interesting art style and concept but game play/genre was not my cup of tea but still recommend.
Very fun game in general , feels like 4x without the same commitment required per match
The story campaign is actually pretty good , but the it can overwhelm you quickly if you aren't at least decently min maxing, especially some of the mid missions are hard but very enjoyable
The game can be a little buggy but overall it doesn't hamper the experience too much
The only fault I find is that it can get tedious in the later rounds , especially on story mode
FIX YOUR F ING GAME!!!! im going back to songs of conquest
I have good time playing this game,
Good
All in all, brilliant game! It immerses you in the role of a barony/county level lord leading your villages' construction, fortification, planning wars, managing the unruly peasants and their economy and taxation, and balancing all this in a package that takes its aesthetic look and feel straight from the medieval manuscripts.
Also as an avid wargamer both on the pc and in boardgames, I appreaciate how the battles work as hex based, very flowing and tactical setup. Have enjoyed playing it alone, have enjoyed it playing in multiplayer with a friend.
For returning players since the early access, there is now a campaign that clearly has seen a lot of effort put into it.
For me however the most dear thing has been the editor, as with it I can construct maps that work just as any ready made maps in the game, but with my own look and feel!
And even though the studio is small, the designers are very responsive and if I've noticed any small issues they have gotten around to correcting them very quickly.
The games multiplayer is LAN or WAN. on top of that you can only have 4 players (Human or AI) Might not be so bad if we could have 6-8. I got the game thinking id get to play decent multiplayer but the demo doesn't let you experience anything involving it. The game was fun for what it was. Hopefully someone can mod in higher player count lobbies.
As a game alone it has charming and fun mechanics to it, I enjoyed playing some of the single player but for me as a gamer I crave the multiplayer aspect of 90% of the games I play and that is where the game fell short for me. Grab it if you enjoy just killing some time and single player games. I wasn't able to find a multiplayer lobby and no one joined mine at the time I attempted to host a WAN lobby.
A few annoying bugs aside, this game takes most of what made the old
I really like the change from real time combat to turn based. Also the combat card system adds a lot to the combat keeping it fresh and fun for longer. Discarding the cumbersome seiges was another wise move and incorporating fortifications into the regular battles was a good decision.
All in all, if you liked games like Lords of the realms you will like Rising lords. Like the old series, but better.
Try the demo first, I should have. I'm sure some people like it, it's different. Personally, I found the interface really non-intuitive and the camera action during battles to be really annoying. Zooming in and jumping around (second battle of the tutorial) ... maybe too much emphasis on trying to make things seem interesting, not sure. I was looking for just a turn-based strategy with a mix of management and battle elements, which this seems to have, and on the simpler side so it can be somewhat casual, but I didn't make it past the tutorial because it's just not for me. Maybe it gets better, but I had one of those "I'm not enjoying myself and life is too short" moments. Again, that's just my opinion. Give the developers credit that it's different, the style just doesn't work for me. Try the demo, maybe you'll like it more than I did.
I've been waiting for a good Lords game on the closer zoom than Crusader Kings... . Finally, this game has arrived!
It's a fun game, would suggest you pick it up in a sale.
Title: A Medieval Masterpiece!
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
I've been eagerly awaiting the release of "Rising Lords" and it has exceeded all my expectations! This turn-based strategy game beautifully blends medieval history with engaging gameplay. The card and board game elements add a unique twist, making each playthrough exciting and fresh.
The visuals are stunning, with a charming hand-drawn aesthetic that feels like a medieval tapestry come to life. The soundtrack perfectly complements the atmosphere, immersing you in the world of lords and peasants.
The game's focus on economy and resource management is both challenging and rewarding. Watching your serfs prosper and using them to your advantage adds a layer of depth that keeps you coming back for more. The turn and hex-driven battles are tactically satisfying, and the multiplayer mode offers endless replay value.
"Rising Lords" is a must-have for any fan of turn-based strategy games. It's simple yet deep, colorful yet historically rich. I can't wait to see what the future holds for this fantastic game!
Another Battle Brothers, I enjoy both games.
Terrible pacing both with the map and battles. The game forces you to play with a time crunch but then wastes your time with silly mechanics. There's a lot of polish missing from this game, basic things like adjusting the battle map speed doesnt work.
It had potential but I can't recommend it. It really needed decent multiplayer since the A.I is pretty boring to play vs even on hardest settings. All it has is crappy LAN/WAN however. It needed more polish more stuff and probably some of their population/economy systems needed tweaks or reworks. It had bugs and problems left unfixed. Since it's been years and hardly anything changed I wondered what they were doing. It turns out they were making a DLC for the game which is very odd to me since the game is frankly unfinished in the first place.
Not a bad game ,
Definitely influenced by Lords of the realms , and there's definitely room for improvement
My main points to improve would be ,
1) frame rate (the last campaign battle was hideous , everything was taking ages to happen , frame rate was atrocious , also on the campaign MAP it would lag sometimes , and I would have to restart.
2) enemies after a battle (they retreat) seem to teleport to other regions , and skip the movement phase. meaning my army cannot catch up.and they attack a different region , so they get a free movement
3) the battle system heavily favors first strike , I think It would be best if the damage was more equal between the two opposing formations , especially as the numbers increase , you can sometimes take out the other stack in one hit , no damage to you at all.
4)battle deployment : it is silly to build a castle on a hill , to get the extra defense , and then during battle that tile belongs to your enemy for deployment , whats the point of having a castle then?
P.S I only played campaign , kinda lost my interest by the time it was finished.
like it
The game is pretty fun but if you're trying to play multiplayer in the US the game will crash every couple turns, making it practically unplayable.
Rather boring and lacks polish. The best thing about this title are the animated figures, sadly.
Jest całkiem spoko, szkoda że opcja rozbudowy miast nie jest lepiej rozwinięta. Fajna średniej wielkości gra. Zdecydowanie zyskuje po multi.
The longer you go in a game meaning turns the more bugs, merchant when you try to buy he says he doesnt have enough gold and when you try to sell he says player doesnt have enough gold. Auto run a town and I lost 47000 gold without anything being built or anything. Auto run towns get tons of beggars and dont function at all, they need to get rid of the auto run button because its garbage. So many glitches later in the game its unplayable. From not being able to trade to gold disappearing on turns. Farms also stop working late game, both wheat and animal. I have no idea why.
Took a minute to figure out the mechanics - then I realize Im fighting two opponents.... even though one is an ally .... weird. Whatever. Ill bring in reinforcements (in 4 turns?) - nope, getting smashed in the back door ... ookkk, I guess ill reload the game because theres no way I would of know that would happen because that was random
And here we are; save / load game at its finest. Forget immersion - this is a puzzle game. There is only one correct sequence, it is just a matter of finding that sequence - then its boring.
Solid game with simple yet pleasant economy and combat mechanics. After playing through the story (until mission 5 where I hit a gamebreaking bug and got stuck), and then playing through a custom scenario, I'd say it was worth the $20 to me. I do wish there was a bit more depth (ie. more overworld mechanics, more unit types for combat), which would probably keep me playing longer, but it was still fun overall.
This is one of the best medievil games i have ever played, but you need to remember to save constantly especaly in campain mode.
