Good strategic game 3 types of Hex Pieces seems that the game is based on Height , a fairly simple yet a rather complex thing. If you like games that require some thought then this one might be for you , (i love games that need some thought to them :3 )
Bought for peanuts.
Should have eaten the peanuts.
The tutorial was designed by a stoner, then edited by the 1997 version of Google Translate. It explains about 11% of what you will have to deal with, in randomly ordered words.
The warehouse/store menu is still a mystery to me. Its only obvious characteristic is its lack of undo button.
As for the battles, the first ones are very short, they seem impossible to lose, and yet they manage to be as boring as the visual design.
I bought this game because it's made by the same developer as Microcosmum: Survival of Cells. I expected a long, varied campaign. I was severely disappointed. There are like 15 levels and a very basic random level generator. It's a brilliant concept, but it's just so empty.
And as others have said, the tutorial is VERY lacking. There's no interactive tutorial level or anything. Just a few confusing slides and you're off. Even the UI for the tutorial is confusing as hell.
I just bought HexLab. I was reluctant to make the purchase because of complaints that the game being difficult and the tutorial being insufficient.
Well I only played it for a few minutes as you can see in the Steam indication of time played.
And here is my humble opinion. The tutorial consist of 11 - short easy to grasp - steps that you have to read through. Apart from one error I noticed in the sentences it looks fine to me (English isn’t my home language tough). It’s just a matter of reading. If you’re to lazy to read … well that’s your problem.
The graphics are cool. Gameplay is easy. Play boards are randomly generated. And HexLab has the potential to be very addictive.
It really isn’t rocket science. You just have to be patient and think a bit about your strategy, Give that grey matter a bit exercise and you’re good to go.
Very unclear and complicated rules explanation. You won't know how to play.
The first impression is nice, kI ist not the best but enough to get practise, tactic is enourmous and difficult in the beginning, in the end you have to see in multiplaying.
It´s a game worth to have a look for, to have a regard to all details will bring in the end the results, so it´s in your patience how far you will reach I thing, but nevertheless a goog game for always starting.
The english translation is definetly very poor, the tutorial offers very little information. The interface is confusing. I feel I have wasted my money. The atmostphere and graphics are very good and exciting.
The communication of basic rules and tactics is very poor. I stopped playing after failing.. level 1 campaign, 4 times (I am a mathematician and engineer).
It seems there is only one path to victory- fine, this isn't a puzzle game, it is supposed to be strategy.
The courser movements were not very precise or proportional to the actually physical mouse movements. The game was intriguing though there seemed to be a few glitches within the campaign mode. When ever the opponent hex was cut off in a loseing position or when the game area was going to be reduced, the opponent hex would glitch into a cycle being selected and placed in the same spot, thus not allowing the player to continue the gameplay. At this point It needs some work before I could fully reccomend it. Great concept though.
HexLab is similar to chess or checkers in the Sci-Fi setting, where the difference in the heights of the playing field is used.
An unusual project with its deep atmosphere. The game has some kind of its own attractive magic. Music and graphics are chosen perfectly, ideally emphasizing unhurried meditative gameplay.
Game mechanics is unusual, I have not yet met such games. I like that the developer is trying to come up with something new, unique and original.
The game is difficult, requiring thinking over each turn. On the playing field are hexes of the opponent and the player, which he buys before the match.
To destroy the hex of the enemy, you need to cover it with your hex. Hexes can be put in a stack. Do you cane in one turn place them over a long distance. You can jump over your hexes, etc. All these game mechanics allow you to perform various tactical maneuvers.
In HexLab there are several different types of hexes that open as the game progresses. Some have blocking properties (block enemy hexes), others jump further than others, and so on.
In the game world, the gameplay is controlled by drones that fly around the playing field. Each drone has a unique ability that can be used once per match. Different drones can be bought before the match.
I advise you to carefully review the tutorial in order to quickly learn all the game mechanics and come up with your tactics. In the game there is multiplayer, where you can compete with other players.
Despite the early access, the game runs without bugs or other flaws. The only downside is that not much maps are available in multiplayer. I think that the developer will add new ones.
In general, an excellent relaxing logic game for a small price with good graphics and unusual gameplay.
HexLab is constantly updated, it is clear that the developer is working on it non-stop. The game has a potential!
It is very interesting to see how game will evolve.
