Pretty cool art style. The puzzles are not to challenging but fun enough. I wish it could be longer. Finished it in about 4hrs including the bonus level.
This isn't the first time I played this game. It may be simple and easy, but it is calming. It isn't as overwhelming as other games can be, and while a lot of content can be good, it can be nice to take a break to enjoy the scenery. If you are looking for an action-packed, thrilling, and challenging puzzle game, Starman isn't it. If you are looking for a relaxing, calming, and minimalistic game, I would 100% recommend this game.
Going around as a little space dude and completing puzzles while being able to enjoy the scenery is one of my favorite parts. There are still some downfalls in the ability to use WASD and the shortness of the game, but I still would recommend this game.
Starman (unrelated to David Bowie) is a little quasi-ambient puzzle experience. The dev team is a pair of architects, and it really does show in lovely the game looks: it's a slightly surrealistic assembly of environments with a vague vintage visage. While I guess if you really, really wanted to make a wild guess at a "plot" you could given the shared elements across levels, but it's more about setting ambience than anything else.
The puzzles are a mixed bag, with some very simple ones, some which do use a bit of lateral thinking, and a few logical but relatively frustrating ones peppered throughout. The flaws include that timing can be very tight in some of the timed puzzles, the lack of an explicit grid making some of the elements hard to line up (a common problem with isometric perspectives), and in some of the game's last puzzles, a long set-up which can be screwed up. Oh, and I guess there's certain times where you can overcomplicate the solution of a puzzle and think if you handle/time things just right you'll get through.
The other meta-problem is that while all chapters have some cohesive aesthetic, only three (in practice, two) aren't linear sequences of discrete puzzle rooms. While none of these chapters go on for too long, you do wish you could quit at any time rather than having to play in these rigid chunks.
Is it the most memorable puzzle game? No. Is it even the best puzzle game within its niche of laid back puzzlers? Not even that. But it can go for sale for really low prices and it's a perfectly good way to unwind for most of its runtime. Looking forward to what else the studio has on Steam.
This was such a lovely monochrome experience; they nailed the atmosphere just perfectly. Best played in a quiet area either at night or on a cloudy day, each environment is so lovingly crafted that I didn't want to leave. You point, you click, and you solve little puzzles, and for the most part, they're very reasonable; I've got a bone to pick with that ship area, but I was able to figure out the rest of them without too much trouble. Not much else to say, really, but if you like things like this, you'll probably enjoy this a great deal.
I got this on sale for ridiculously cheap. Yes it is worth it, but I also found some downsides to the game. It's a beautiful game with simplistic, but timed puzzles.
The atmosphere, aesthetics, music, and art of the game really come together to create a peaceful experience. You should get this game for this alone.
Unfortunately, my problem is with the game mechanics and comes down to a personal preference.
First, the action mapping is weird. Left click to pick up a box. Spacebar to drop it. What? Why not make the right click the drop button?
Second, your character walks SO SLOW across stupid long rooms. It drove me crazy. Even if the character had a little jog that would help. But the Starman walks because it's part of the game.
Third- TIMED PUZZLES. I hate them. I hate having to rush across the room and push something at the exact right time. And if you fudge it up? Guess what, you have to start ALL OVER AGAIN. But Starman walks so dang slow that this takes FOREVER. I got level 8, tried and failed to get the timing right, and just quit.
Starman walks so slow because it's forcing you to solve the puzzle a certain way. You can't jog to the next button and wait to push it at the right time. Starman meanders over there, fudging up the entire sequence. Time to start over! *headdesk*
Fourth: The puzzles are very simple. It's actually very soothing until you get to level 8, and I was enjoying it. I was playing with my daughter (5 yo) and we were having a great time. Too bad about the timed games and forced walking, otherwise this would be an enjoyable puzzle game a la Monument Valley 1 & 2. Puzzle games don't have to be ridiculously hard to have fun. The fun is in the satisfaction of achieving a small goal and moving onto the next level.
Get if you don't mind restarting a puzzle multiple times, and time puzzles are your thing. But I know that people who like puzzle games also like some time to process and ponder their next move. Starman doesn't give you any wiggle room. You just fail and start over, again and again.

I wasn’t a big fan of the controls and there were a few puzzles either too difficult for me or that didn’t make sense. Overall, a great little puzzle game though! I love love love the float mode. My favorite part of the game. Definitely recommended.
Great puzzle game requiring not only logical thinking but also a bit of reflex sometimes. I generally don't like this kind of elements in logic games but here they are made really well. Unique atmosphere and style, highly recommended.
This game is a miserable slog. The atmosphere and ambiance is all there but the level design is nothing but bland repeating layouts housing puzzles that range from boring to frustrating. The puzzles could potentially be a lot more satisfying and interesting if you weren't forced to sit through excruciatingly long animations as the protagonist crawls back and forth across the screen, taking many times longer than they should to perform basic tasks. The fact that there's literally no need for the puzzle elements to be so spaced out and far apart in the first place demonstrates blatant padding as the game would be less than half as long without the waiting periods. If you knew your game was a ripoff just make more levels or decrease the price, don't swindle people with this lazy and unintuitive design.
A wholesome, chill puzzle game. If you liked Monument Valley you'll enjoy this.
A very cute short puzzle game with weird unintuitive control. Why mouse/touchscreen to make our character move any way when we are more familiar with buttons??? Arrow keys or WASD (or left analog stick on a controller) are unquestionable choice! WHY FUUKING MOUSE???
AND IF YOU REALLY WANNA GO WITH MOUSE, WHY DON'T DROP SOMETHING WITH RIGHT CLICK? WHY SPACEBAR???????
The very latter stage pose much more serious problems in control design that render puzzles NOT solvable. For example:
1. You already familiar with using mouse to move your character, and the weather is snowing the river became ice. The (untold) mission is to have you ice-skating on the iced river and jump over logs. WELL NOW YOU ALREADY FAMILIAR WITH MOUSE CONTROL YOU'VE GOT NO IDEA THAT YOU CAN NOW LEFT-ANALOG AND X BUTTON TO JUMP AND SCORE!!!
2. TOUCHSCREEN CAN'T MOVE ROCKS AT ALL, BUT LEFT-ANALOG CAN. R U FREAKING SERIOUSLY KIDDING ME????????????

A fantastic puzzler with simple and gorgeous graphics, and a satisfying style. I would highly recommend this game, despite its short length.

I bought it for 1€ and for this prise its okay, but you should not by this game for 5€.
The puzzels are easy and the story isnt very good.

Limbo makes the dark atmosphere much better and its also show you a good Story.
Starman is just something else. A real breath of fresh air in an oversaturated market full of action packed games that all try to be the most flashy. Nada studios did a great job on making something flashy and extremely interesting... by using something very special: grayscale. The world doesn't feel sad though: it feels alive and upbeat; like it's a lost world full of dreams and adventures. The puzzles aren't too challenging, but the later ones require at least some thinking. They won't ever leave you feeling bored: that's for sure. Definitely check this game out, it's well worth the money. I's extremely relaxing, and (dare I say), a piece of art :)
Wonderful and beautiful game. I loved the graphics and thinking in Limbo and Monument Valley, this game has that same vibe. The puzzles are just right for me and not hard, not too easy. Nada Studios should be proud.
Nice ambience, but Starman fails as a game. The puzzles are not interesting or difficult. There's nothing there other than an empty but nice-looking shell. If you want to burn 1-2 hours and this is on sale, then sure. Otherwise I don't think it's worth it.
This is a relaxing little title originally released on iOS. The game is very slow-paced and limited in scope, but what it does it does well. Don't play this if you're looking for some real head-scratching puzzle action, it's much more enjoyable when approached as a wind-down game at the end of your day or on a quiet afternoon when you need some head space.

Starman is one of the better puzzle games I've played in a little while - it's chill, it's minimalistic, and ultimately, it's not trying to do too much. All you have to do is sit back, relax, and rack your brain a little bit as you solve some neat and cleverly designed puzzles.
Graphically speaking, I'll admit some bias in favor of this game: I'm a sucker for minimalistic game design, ESPECIALLY when it comes to puzzle games. However, my bias aside, the game is beautiful. The animations are clean, crisp, and satisfying, and the graphics as a whole achieve the 'chill' vibe the game is going for.
As for the puzzles themselves, they're ones that'll leave you thinking for a little while (at least in my opinion - I'm not smart or great at problem solving by any stretch of the imagination, so maybe my opinion on this should be taken with a grain of salt). You're left to figure out most things on your own, which is not something I usually like in puzzle games, but it fits in Starman. As I said before, the game really isn't trying to do too much, and the atmosphere it creates allows for a lack of direction to work. And, on top of that, it's not all that difficult to figure out how things work in the game.

This is an enjoyable puzzle game and quite beautiful in it's graphical simplicity. The mechanics are very basic, push the button or flip the switch, so no instructions are required. However, understanding the outcome of your actions takes a bit of trial and error.
I was disappointed to find that I completed the game in under 2 hours, and I was not trying to rush through it. I went back through some of the levels thinking I'd missed something, but alas, it is only one menu page of levels to complete.
Since the game was on sale and I used some money I had banked on steam, it was only a few dollars, so I'm satisfied with the purchase.
I look forward to what the game develeopers do next!
