Even better than the first in a lot of ways, great game, like the first one it made me laugh quite a few times
"guess what number i'm thinking" the game
It's funny and the puzzles are just hard enough.
Just as fun, if not moreso than the first one, but longer. Outstanding.
I love this series, and my two little pixel faceless men :)
The humor is humorous, the lore is generous, the puzzles are fun, and there is no stone left unturned, nor dialogue unread. Everything means something, so it is good to pay close attention and look between the puns.
I cannot wait for the next installment! Or- well, I suppose I CAN wait. The whole point is that I am willing to wait, as I cannot contain my excitement! Or... I guess I CAN contain it, given that I'm willing to wait-
Fun game, not too long, clever humor. Some puzzles are a little annoying, there are a few spots where the clickable item is easy to overlook, but other than that it's worth it.
Also, I enjoy the easter eggs written into the dialogue.
The game had potential relying on old school nostalgia for those original adventure computer games of the 1980s that I absolutely loved. However, this one just fell flat for me. The jokes and dialogue were slow, tedious and childish. The puzzles were ridiculous... not hard, just the objects made no sense to the solution so I found myself early on in chapter 1 already searching for walkthroughs. By almost two hours in, and starting chapter 2, I was fed up, frustrated and not enjoying it enough to continue. Too bad as I had high hopes for it.
A good pixel game with comedic elements
Just as great as the first one
I will be pragmatic. If you enjoyed the first game, this is a must have.
excellent sequel so far! retains the same humor, now with bonus minigame mechanics for puzzle solving!
If you've played the first game I would absolutely recommend this as a sequel. It's larger in scope, has more content, and is overall more of what you loved about the first game. I could argue that some of the puzzles are a little more contrived but the game retains its style of humor as well as its presentation. It lacks a little bit of charm compared to its predecessor but I could argue that's because the game is no longer new to us. Absolutely a sequel worth picking up.
It's loveable, but might be because I'm the right age group to catch the references. Also be able to enjoy an old-timey point-and-clicker with no voice over. If you liked the first one, you'll most likely like this one, too.
Fantastic follow up. Very funny.
Erin go bragh
Amazing game although the first one was more enjoyable, still a good one!
Love the humour, and the characters have really grown on me after the first game. I highly recommend that you play the first one before this one. Some of the solutions are hard to guess (predictably illogical) so if you need specific hints without spoilers, I suggest using "Nice Game Hints" for both games.
非常好笑无厘头的像素风小品探案游戏。安利!
有生之年会有第三部吗?
After enjoying the original Darkside Detective point & click adventure game so much, I was looking forward to this sequel. And it has the same pixel art (crude but nonetheless very expressive), the same funny dialogue interplay between the characters, the same episodic format, and the same mix of achievements for game progression and for odd, easily missed interactions.
But... for me, this game was good but somehow not as special and enjoyable as the first game; I've been trying to work out why. Perhaps I played A Fumble in the Dark too soon after the original - certainly I laughed out loud much less in this game. In both games I needed some help from the various excellent guides for the easily missed side achievements, but whereas I worked out nearly all of the puzzle and plot solutions myself in the original game, in this one I found myself stuck much more often; the solutions, when I found (or read) them, often seemed more contrived or "stretched out". This is reflected in my play time - each game had six core cases and three bonus ones, but the first game took me almost exactly half of the time of the second.
And that, I think, answers my question about why I preferred the first game - it was more tight and lean, with every action in the game understandable, purposeful and oddly logical (even if weird!), and no sense of "padding". I ended the first one happy and satiated, and hoping for more of the same another time; I ended this game with a slight sense of "job done" and relief.
So, in summary, this is a good game, but the first one is extra-special and that is the one I would recommend to anyone trying these kind of point & click games for the first time.
Entertaining
If you liked Sierra / Lucasarts games back in the day, then you'll like this. Zany short stories that will lighten the mood.
10/10
Didn't find it as brilliant as the first one, but still quite recommendable if you enjoyed the first one!
feels like playing dirk gently
Not as good as the first, but still a solid point and click with humour that hits many more times than it misses.
Also often available for less than £10 which is a bargain.
Super entertaining with a good challenging mix of puzzles. Silly retro fun!
I have nothing bad to say about this. It keeps you busy for a decent time, but is not too hard. The humor is delightful, even on a second playthrough. I like the graphics and the music is fine too.
Pretty good
Just like the first game, but with a bit more. This was fun.
Pretty much the same as the first game, if you liked that than definitely play this.
Funny, charming, and lots of fun! I loved returning to Twin Lakes and getting to participate in more of McQueen and Dooley's antics.
I love this game and all its series. This is one of the best puzzle games I have come across. Sleuthing with bits of humor here and there. I love the banter and jokes the main characters have with others. An amazing work and worth the purchase! You will surely love this game as well. And as always the moon is not to be trusted, as it is an obstruction of justice!
P.S. the moon doesn't really do anything but that is exactly why it is what it is!
Smart, funny, aesthetically pleasing. A real treat of a game. Hope more seasons are to come!
It's very seldom I laugh out loud, all by myself, in my sad, sad misery. But this game sure did it with all the puns, weirdness and just, general jokes. First case was the most difficult. Really enjoyed the cases too, got me to feel like an idiot, and a genius. They were just the right amount of idiotgenius.
They call themself detective game ? No logic , the puzzle is ridiculous, the game is so glitchy, no progress and the plot is stuck until you click specific characters or items, totally non sense. The jokes just not funny at all and the plot is stupid. They call them modern polish click pixel game. I didn't see any polish modern touch on it. Didn't enjoy it at. Bought both 1 and 2 , and it's too late for me to refund them. Won't bother event play them after waste my 2 hours on it, totally waste my time.
Just like the first the game is bite-sized casual fun and charming in its own pixelated way.
Very fun, even better than the first but you should play the first because the story continues into this one.
I feel like by the end you get to intimately know and feel the friendship between these two main characters (Detective + Dooley) Funny, clever puzzles, easy to medium challenge. Definitely playing the bonus content they have 3 additional cases. Happy I played it.
Superb!
Perfect little game for some laughs and entertainment. Had the most lovely time and came to love the universe and characters.
The puzzles are fun and easy to understand, however a couple of times i did get stuck for a while, but nothing that would ruin the experience.
This is more of a story driven game, rather than a classic puzzle game. I would recommend going through every small detail, before running to solve the next puzzle.
I encountered no bugs or crashes, everything ran smoothly.
10/10 indie game (from an indie game fanatic, trust - in 10 years i've seen it all)
I LOVE this game so much, it was on my wish list for a long time and I'm happy I finally took the time to play it. If you love monkey island and the likes you’re gonna love this as well. Oldschool point n click, weird ass stories, a boatload of dad puns, silly meta-jokes and pop/game culture references <3
Great sequel to the first Darkside Detective game. Love all the characters and hope to see more of these games in the future!
As fun as the first one or dare I say... funnier??? The writing is fantastic, the programming is programming, the art is pixel-perfect!
I love the new ways the game finds to make jokes and have gimmicks within the restraint of a pixel-art point and click. Bravo! Brava!!
I love these games. They have so much heart. A continuing cast and past referential humor. i need 9 more of these
I always expected The Darkside Detective to be funny, but this sequel still surprised me with its spooky antics and laugh-out-loud moments.
Playtime: 18.2 hrs
The first one in the series was a nice and funny game so of course I decided to buy the second one and get some laugh from the story and characters. To make it short, it did not disappoint. The puzzles seemed a bit more complex, so I had to refer to a guide more often, but the funniness followed through from the last one. This one, like the last one, was a game that gave me a few laughs here and there, which was satisfying and enough for me. Hopefully they will make a sequel soon in the future.
I really enjoyed both the first Darkside Detective and A Fumble in the Dark I found them quite funny and could tell that the creators put a lot of love into this game. I definitely recommend both this and the first one! I even spent the extra time to get all of the achievements in both games.
If you liked the first one (which I did), then you will probably like this one as well (which I also did). The humor might rub off on you, for better or for worse.
I like the retro pixel looking graphics. This reminds me of games from the 80-90, the gold age of video games. The puzzles are good and full of humour, the quality of the game relies on the second degree jokes ! Thanks for proposing such game. Please add new cases to the game.
I freaking love this game. If you love OG PnC Adventure games, this is one of the best of the modern era. 5/5
Silly. Clues not too dumb
