Описание

The Great War has ended, but Europe is still being shaken by the political turmoil. Empires fall, socialist movements rise, new national states emerge on the ruins of the old world.

In the very end of the year 1918 the army of Soviet Russia attempts an offensive towards west. Their goal is to spark a communist uprising, that will start from eastern Germany and eventually consume entire Europe.

Relive events of the year 1919 and fight through enemy cards in six historical scenarios spanning from December 1918 to January 1920.

Well, this one is different, for sure.
Rather grim subject matter- war is always grim
Play the cards and don't read the texts beyond the tutorial pop-ups, I guess?

It's not a "pretty, fluffy, colorful" game, but the art is appropriate and feels right. So far it's not bad- the mechanics are fairly basic and easy to understand.
Replay hands until you win them to get the "Clear all tables" achievements for each location- if you skip to the next hand (table) without winning (clearing) the table- you will have to replay the entire set of 10 tables again to get that achievement- there is no way to select tables to replay.

Once you've beaten the entire first scenario, the first location is basically a tutorial set of only 3 hands- short, and over quickly, and you can generally win them all without spending any points to buy helper cards. Complete that entire scenario of 4 locations, and later on you can go back and replay the first location over and over and over to rack up points to be able to have lots to spend on the tougher scenarios ahead, where the helper cards cost more, and you'll need to buy multiple helper cards to get through all 10 tables.

Only real drawbacks are-
No save system. You have to play all 10 tables and complete each location- if you exit before finishing a location (or lose power), you will have to restart at table 1 for that location the next time you play.
No screenshots. [F12] does not function- you need to use an outside snipping tool or screenshot app, then upload the shot as Artwork if you want to share images from the game- but if you have a major win or extremely good or bad hand and want to document it- that's what you have to do.

I'm fine with the price I paid ($4.99 USD while the game was 50% off). Grab it on sale- finishing 10 tables on Scenario 2 is taking me around 30 minutes or so... good for killing time while eating a meal or such. Not sure I'd pay full price, though. Nothing overly special about the game- it's another Solitaire variation without lots of pretty artwork or cute "Win hands to build your fantasy castle." type of thing, but if you are into modern European history (post WW1 era), it's interesting enough- and you might learn something while you play.

Loved this one. I almost want to call it a "casual wargame". The twists on solitaire made it fun and interesting to chain combos, but the randomness could be a little frustrating. Plenty of content, easy pick up and play.

This card game makes me sweat. Is very hard and fun, I enjoy it very much. The mechanics are innovative, and you end up learning some history :p
There are several levels to pass, and you depend more on strategy than luck. Is very challenging and that is what makes it beautiful.
Just bought it and passed the first scenario, will continue it the rest of the week. It is completely worth it, my gratitude to the developer.

I like history and I like solitaire with unique mechanics, this fits the bill very well. It's fairly straightforward, the overall theme is what makes this shine.

Fun Solitaire game with a couple of offbeat game mechanics relating to the story of the gloriously messy situation in the Baltics in the aftermath of the Bolshevik Revolution and the end of the Great War. Unique setting provides for some fun story elements that are integrated into the gaming levels. If you like Solitaire, give it a try. If you like Solitaire with a unique theme, try it as well. If you like to learn more about the Baltic Wars of Independence and the personalities and insane heel-face-heel turns involved, play as well.

I was entertained by it.

A good game for what it is. One person created it as a debut title and wisely chose a tried and true rule system with Solitaire. The core mechanic works fine and was extended by allowing the player to choose bonus cards at the beginning of each game. The historical setting is presented very well through the texts, card images, visual design of the interface, and music. The game feels very polished and I did not spot a single typo or other error (playing in German). The music is adequate, though after just short of an hour of playing started to become repetitive.

I stopped playing at around 40 minutes, which was what I wanted to get out of the game. I'm not usually a Solitaire player, so this was just a short break from my usual gaming habits. I'd say you need 8-10 hours to play through the whole game, which is more than decent for the asking price.

I'd recommend the game to anyone with an interest in the time period and Solitaire games, or who just wants a short break from the usual big titles.

Maybe it's me. I bought this game yesterday. I am having problems getting it to work. I use a keyboard & mouse.

There are some comments I would like to make about my comment. At first I got only a Red Arrow curser that was of no use. That was when I wrote my review. I have taken the game to full screen and it works. The day following my review the developer cared enough to respond. He asked if I have DirectX 9 installed. I'm not sure and think I have a later version of DirectX. But my problem was solved by going to "Full Screen". If nothing else I am always in favor of a developer who cares enough to respond to a customer. So Thanks for Caring.

This game has excellent, crisp graphics with nice illustrations. The twists on the rules of Solitare and 'units' that enable special card moves is well done.

The idea to tie the card games to campaigns across the historical era is likewise well done. Pleasantly surprised by this fun, replayable game. Excellent all round.

5.5/10

I initially snagged Comrades and Barons because 1) I dig playing Solitaire games while I'm listening to music and 2) I dig the Russian Revolution-era aesthetic of the game. The game tells the story of a communist uprising. There are 6 different locations, and each location typically consists of 3-4 battles. Each battle consists of 10 levels, with the exception of perhaps the first introductory battle. Each battle has its own set of objectives you must complete in order to "win," which might include something like attaining a certain card combo (perhaps removing 7 cards from the board in a row) or flawlessly completing a number of levels (perhaps removing all cards while playing 5 different levels). Unfortunately, there isn't really a way to seamlessly mesh Solitaire gameplay with fighting a war. Although the cards themselves were thematic and the in-level obstacles were things like barbed wire, the "story" is told through simple in-game text boxes. I read the first few, but it was difficult to maintain interest when I was given no protagonist to follow and was unable to connect my in-game actions to anything war-related.

Comrades and Barons is a fairly standard Solitaire game, if you've played any of these titles on Steam. Each level presents you with a interesting layout of overlapping cards, and you'll try and remove them all (or as many as possible) from the board before you run out of cards in your deck. You can only remove a card that is either one number higher than lower than your current card. Therefore, if you have a 6 on the deck, you can only remove a 5 or a 7. If you click a 7 and an 8 exists on the board, then you can create a 6-7-8 string, removing a number of cards without having a flip another card over from your deck.

Like most of the Solitaire games on Steam, you'll earn an in-game currency from completing levels, which you can then use to purchase sets of powers. A neat touch in Comrades and Barons is that each location has six different sets of powers that can be purchased. Each set of powers is represented by a card featuring a certain soldier, and these don't seem to be repeated from location to location. Each card has two powers, and some of the options included are giving the player undos, adding wild cards to the board, adding additional cards to the deck, or even giving the player the ability to target three cards to be removed from the board. Unless you purchase one of these sets, you'll have no powers when playing a level. This system works well enough, although I can imagine a time when a player might be forced to grind currency to buy cards to complete especially difficult levels.

My biggest issue with the game is that I couldn't find a way for the game to save mid-battle. Since each battle is ten levels, this means that you'll need to set aside a decent little chunk of time if you want to make any progress. This conflicts markedly with the pick-up-and-play mentality I typically have when playing Solitaire games, knocking a level out here and there. This could be especially taxing if you're attempting to snag the "decisive victory" achievements, which require you to clear all cards from every level during the battle in question.

I certainly can't say that Comrades and Barons is bad, but I can't say it's good either. I loved the aesthetic and artwork in the game, but the inability to save mid-battle and lack of engagement with the story kind of turned me off.

Pretty good solitaire game. Similiar in concept to Tripeaks in that you can discard any card that is one number away from your card regardless of suit. There are some cards you can buy for each hand with points earned in the game that make it easier I didn't really use too many.
The biggest problem is that I'd like to be able to select individual games in each level. If you want to complete a level perfectly you have to finish each game perfect in order no skipping otherwise you have to play through the whole level if you accidentally select continue instead of replay after a game where you didn't clear the board. You don't have to clear every board to win but that's my aim so that would be a nice feature.
If you enjoy solitaire this is definitely worth a look.

That is a nice solitaire game with an interesting theme and some good solitaire mechanics, which are matching with the theme. After playing the first scenario, i can recommend that game. 5 or 6 times, there was only 1 card left. sometimes i had luck, sometimes not. So i had the feeling: "oh come on, that one card, lets beat it..." ^^ and thats good!

If you like solitaire games, i can really recommend that one!!!

This is a solitaire game set during the Russian Civil War and Soviet-Polish War that took place after the end of the First World War. During this period, the Soviets tried to expand Marxism into the western countries (such as the defeated Germany), while opposed not only by the powers they invaded, but also by several former Allied nations who feared the spread of Communism and also wanted to restore the Tsars (or at least the democratic republic formed after the February Revolution).

The gameplay itself is like many of its type, and is engaging enough. Would recommend.

It feels like there is a potential for a good game but dull colours combined with absolutely terrible coma-inducing music make it difficult to focus on what's going on. I suppose that it very well may be original music from the period, prolly some classic composer too, but for me it feels like a poor choice for a background music in a military game. Shadowhand (being also a solitaire) has also a classical-theme music background but it's so much better.
