I don't often write reviews for anything, but I wanted to write a review for this game because I love it so much. Why do I love Hush Hush, and more importantly, why should you buy it?
In a sentence: This game is like the visual novel equivalent of comfort food.
In more detail (and no particular order):
- the "summer vibes" radiate from the screen, making it a great game to play in the middle of winter, or any time of year
- a decently-sized cast of fun and colorful characters, who are all fully voiced. Both the VAs and the writers did an absolutely incredible job in breathing life into these characters.
- the story is fantastic. The twists and turns kept getting me more invested and more interested in seeing what would happen next. (I am trying to keep this review spoiler-free, so that's all I will say)
- On that note, this game is challenging at points. Expect to get a Game Over screen several times in your first playthrough, especially if you play on the hard difficulty. Save semi-often. There are plenty of save slots. Though sometimes, choosing a sub-optimal path or a path that leads to a game over with reveal additional lore, making the choice feel a bit more worthwhile.
- the soundtrack: There are 40-something tracks that you will hear throughout the game. They are quite varied in style, but each one fits the mood/vibe of the scene, the location, and/or the character. Some are fun and upbeat, some are ominous and moody, and some are enchantingly beautiful.
- I really like the art style. The background art is great, and I love the character designs. Yes, I know most of these characters originated from Crush Crush/Blush Blush, but I do love the slightly different aesthetic the designs for this game have.
The add-ons:
Peanut DLC: Very much recommend. Adds more content than you would probably expect, and you don't need to worry about these scenes conflicting with the ones in the base game.
18+ DLC: Oh yeah, I thought I was forgetting about something. ;) I haven't played the game without this DLC, so can't really speak to the differences. It's good, and you also get a side quest to unlock a number of nice pin-up style images, so I'd recommend it, but I would say that any of the things I listed above are much better reasons for playing this game. Actually, my favorite part of this DLC is probably the additional character who gives you the side quest. I really hope he appears in future games.
Artbook: Really good. If you're into artbooks and love the art of this game, it's worth it. It shows sketches, character designs, has a few sentences about each character, shows the backgrounds at the different times of day, etc. The only thing I would dock points for is that the artbook includes non-18+ versions of most of the pin-ups from the 18+ DLC, but not all of them, and I don't think there is a way to view the non-18+ versions of the remaining ones.
Soundtrack: I have already mentioned my love for the soundtrack, so I won't repeat it here. You can actually find these tracks on Youtube, but if you want to support the developers, or if you already plan on buying the 18+ DLC and the artbook, go for the bundle.
If you’re still reading this, thank you, and thank you Sad Panda Studios for such an incredible game.
I love this game and the peanut DLC was worth the money
I can't remember the last time I had a game like this where I was sad to see it end. The connections you build with the girls are incredible. The writing and voice acting are better than I expected, and I expected a fair bit from Sad Panda after playing Crush Crush. This is the first dating sim I've played, and I feel like it may have set the bar too high.
I definitely recommend the Peanut DLC, particularly if you've played Crush Crush before; best girl is best girl for a reason, and she makes an already full game more complete (with a better ending). Incredible game, can't rave about this enough. Kudos to the creators, thanks for making this. Now make more (please).
i love the EXTREMELY noticeable references to crush crush! (if you have played it) (notice a ton of crush references in the end of the Peanut DLC. love it when theres references to other games within the same universe!
Absolute Cinema.
A really great visual novel with outstanding sound design.
Seriously. Play this with headphones.
I just finished my first play-through on Hard Difficulty. It was a challenge at the start, but now I think I'm going to go for all achievements. Maybe go for the Easy and Normal mode ones next to have an easier time.
Enjoyable as a game, but be prepared for the darkness. The voice acting is amazing. The character/scene art is good, but the s3x is words over nekkid pictures.
Great game. ending left me pissed as hell wont replay
i haven't even finished this game yet and i can already tell its the best game I've ever played in my life
10/10 would recommend!!
Great Game! I had a blast playing through the base game and then one more time to get to Peanut. Now If you want to know if this is worth your time. It is. The story is wonderful, funny and sad when it has to be. The music works so well in the game as well that I have caught myself listening to the songs in the background on spotify. I will say that if you came to here to goon, the art is great but don't expect anything special. The NSFW content doesn't really add anything, beside gender neutral dialogue during sex scene. The art for the NSFW is great tho! Beside that this game is a hidden gem and I really hope another game or more DLC with more girls from the Crush Crush series get added. Great Job Sad Panda Studios!
I'm really sad that the game had to end. The connections you build with the girls were really nice and I felt sad to let go once the game ended, even though I don't feel like ever letting go. I'm really sad. But yeah, great game. Did I mention I'm sad?
Not that fun. I really don't like the voice overs, personally. The game leads you down an LGBTQ path for achievements, weird there was no tag for that.. not my thing.
I love crush crush it was one of my first steam games on this account and I LOVE HUSH HUSH so much different routes so much save files so much amazingness DLC was good too!
The characters deaths make no sense, and the story even less sense. Even if I feel like I play perfectly, someone still dies. It's so annoying.
I love Cassie and Iro <3
Get the Peanut DLC, 10/10, best girl.
Finally completed the game. Is it worth it? Yes. Is this an adult game? Not without the DLC and even with it, it's extremely tame.
In this game you are on a mission from horny goddesses to bump uglies and get girls to fall in love with you to save their lives. Your biggest enemy will be double bookings for dates (the game has a schedule but recents are at the bottom and not the top), and navigating the dialogue for love and for secrets.
Game Play: Visual novel, choosing your own adventure, building up stats to get success and money to find success.
Writing and complexity of story: This game excels here. There are many different paths although some clear "win/lose" endings and it's easy to lose. Whether you play over and over again to win or save scum to win (even then you can still lose if you select incorrect dialogue choices or don't discover their secrets), the game ends up being a good time. One of the deaths really shocked me, particularly because it was unexpected and tragic. (yay saves) Sometimes, getting the highest love score can actually cost you the game.
Graphics: Cute with minimal movement, but some short 1 second looped animations.
Sound: This thing talks. not my flavor for games as I'm a reader, but others seem to like it.
Fun Flavors: Not really unless you do the DLC and they're mostly vanilla, even when not vanilla the lack of graphics leaves it pretty vanilla. This is a PG game although I'm not sure how hard death scenes hit in PG mode as the 18 DLC is supposed to make things a bit more "real)" too.
DLCs: 18 DLC would not be on my recommended list unless you really want it. Minimal visual impact although it's supposed to be more real/tragic too. The peanut DLC is essentially a side girl you can chase that doesn't impact your scheduling like other girls. I think the price isn't worth it, but some people really loved peanut so it might be worth it to them. Personally I think the $3 is more a reasonable price for each DLC based on the content they provide (peanut you can see how many scene's she has as she's not absent from the game, but you get blocked from pursuing her too much.
Dating sim: eh... I don't know that I find a super deep connection with the girls, nor are you really pursuing a deep connection because you're catching them all and cheating which none of the girls seem happy about. They are surface-level cute and fun, and you care a little. It's just more superficial than deep. I don't think you'll be better off dating real women due to playing this, but it's a fun time.
So, yeah, I can recommend it. It's a good time; well done, well written, with cute graphics, and it engaged me. Value-wise, it's all right, but the DLCs are overpriced.
The peanut DLC advert broke the main game - you can't access end of the game because of the unklikable pink dlc event advert that stays unreachable and unklikable in the 25th day. You can't just skip it because there is no golden event for this, you can't ignore it, you can't choose to turn it off in full-price game or even stay away from the freaking advert. I loved the story, but devs blocked it in the worsk possible way!(
This game is honestly something i have never played before, so i went into the game without any knowledge of what dating sims really are, but by all means did this game blow me away. 2 things made this game stand out the most.
1. The first is the story, you start the game off as any dating sim does you find the main girls and go out on dates with them. It's funny and relaxing but as the game go's on you realise the story is more then just dating girl's. The story starts giving you twist and turns that leave you second guessing and interested in the truths behind all the girl's. It is written so well that as a grown man i almost cried multiply times during the story. But it wasn't only the story that made this game so good, this brings me to my second point.
2. The voice acting. The cast that voice acted the story really blow my heart out of my chest. Every line that was said felt real and fool of emotion, at the peak climax of the girls story really felt real, like you were really there listening to there troubles and being there for them.
In conclusion, if you are thinking about trying this game or any dating sim i would advise you to give this game a go because, it isn't your normal dating sim, it's a game full of love and passion from both the voice actors and sad panda studio. I thank them for bringing us a game that was truly awe inspiring. I am sad this is experience is over but, really thankful that i got to try this amazing ,passionate game. If you sat through and read this thank you for reading and thank you sad panda for a great heart felt game.
PS: Just finished the Peanut dlc, and i would highly recommended getting it as it makes the ending of the game all the more better, plus its just the canon ending 10/10 dlc and game.
it's too trial-and-error
I don't really post Reviews that often, But i got to say Sad Panda Studios, I am really impressed, like i really am. Cause most indie developers would have quit this type of game after a few months, but with you, constantly updating your games with new content like this, I have high hopes for you guys, Keep doing what your doing, I cant wait whats in store next, Btw 10/10 Game :)
extremely good game with a great story cant wait for the DLC
Can you please add a DLC where you add sigmund freud to the game. i think it would pair nicely with iro's psychodynamic elements/approach to her childhood trauma, where she represses her true memories of her mother's death and transfers her true anger onto her father. and eli can be about something gay (freud was gay). you should make freud one of iro's brothers you can ALSO date.
genuinely the best game i've ever played. i need to reset my memory somehow so i can experience it for the first time again. God
lotta fun voice acting helps casue i cnat read 10/10 recommened
Second best visual novel I've ever played but I'll never be able to 100% the game caz Eli exists.
LOL anime titties
Cant believe how good this was
Literally the best game i have played. its not because of the porn, i actually liked the story.
Very good writing. Hilarious in many places, but also very sad at times.
Definite recommend for fans of the clicker game.
I have only played it for 6 hours and i don't know but i got like 5 times arrested but so far i like it
Please kill me 2.0
Holy crap man what a game, never been one for dating sims but absolutely love this game. it has so much good character development and the DLC is worth the purchase just like the whole game. Iro, Mio, and Elle have to be my top three they have such a diverse background and major character development it is insane, don"t want to spoil any of it. HIghly recommended 10/10
Playing this with a friend. Worth every single penny. I love the story, the dark, yet humour filled game overs and the characters. (Mio no.1)
Chat I had to
First of all I have been playing Crush Crush since it came out on both steam and on android. Seeing as they made like an actual visual novel made me want to get the game for so long. Actually playing the game and I found it to be amazing. I wish I got it sooner honestly one of the best visual novels I ever played. Got to say this after beating the game I had to go back and replay crush crush again to make myself feel a bit better. Only Beat the game one time so far haven't gotten all the secrets or the best ending yet. Although Iro is my favorite with a certain singer being my hard second.
I have spent an ungodly amount of time on this game
Anyway, this game's alright, but most of it is written like your character is a women, I'm not sure if it would be that hard to change some voice lines and dialogue, but still, alright game and an alright visual novel, leaves a bit to be wanted, but most of the characters are sweet and endearing
best visual novel i played, almost got an emotional breakdown from finishing it
mio best girl
I demand to see Sir Vicks in future titles!
fr
im less lonely
play this then go play crush crush you,ll get the girls a whole lot more cough cough elle and quill. its a game you,ll have to play many times
I LOVE HUSH HUSH
the character u play as doesn't have a gender. i bought the uncensored patch and regret it now. that's so dumb. hard pass
WOMEN
I spent half of my time playing this game trying to be a good Christian girl but... BADONKADONKS
10/10 would recommend <3
I don’t want to hear about your penis, Eli.
A fun idea, but a nightmare to play through without cheating. It's a visual novel-style game that's a little more open-world than most. Like most VNs, each event has an optimal path through it that can be found with a reasonable amount of trial and error. There is also a light RPG element where you level up certain skills and earn money by choosing activities twice a day, plus other bonuses provided by various events. The frustrating thing is that beating the game requires that you choose specific event sequences and leveling options that are impossible to figure out without infinite trial and error or just throwing up your hands and going to a cheat site. There's no in-game feedback, and in many cases you almost have to restart to fix a problem.
I really wanted to like this game, but at the end of the day the best description of it is pointlessly annoying.
Crush Crush is ok
Hush Hush IS GREAT
It's definitely worth playing and learning about these characters personalities and flaws. I love that you can cry and feel for these 5 girls, and I hope for more content in the future. SPS did a good job with this one.
Score: 10/10
