Hao-Chen Jiang did not understand what it was when he opened his eyes. Before him was a dim and dreary room that he had not seen before. Trying to get up to turn on the lights, he finds that his arms are tied behind him and that is when he realizes that he's been kidnapped. It is then that a mysterious girl appears before him and with a look of disdain tells him that he's been kidnapped and unless his family agrees to pay a ransom he has no chance to escape. But perhaps there is more to this than just money...

A Light in the Dark is an original visual novel game from the creative minds of CreSpirit (Developers of Rabi-Ribi), Storia (Developers of Dong-jin Rice-hime) and Narrator (Developers of Companion).
The game features a story part and an interactive part where Hao-Chen can examine the items around him as he tries to formulate a plan to escape his kidnappers but beware of your stamina! A Light in the Dark also features multiple endings and language options in English, Traditional Chinese and Simplified Chinese.

Beautifully sad

There is sadly no way to make them kiss. But otherwise the story was quite interesting and made me feel emotions in my cold dead heart. Even if that was mostly pity.
Most of the spelling errors and bugs exist in the secret ending, it's philosophical underpinnings in this story is also a lot weaker than the other endings since it seems to run counter to the conversation that the MC has with Big Sis.
I'm gonna get the pros out of the way first:
- Great art, this game is beautiful
- Great mechanics (some variations which is nice to see in a visual novel)
- The voice acting they recently added is good
The big con:
- The writing
It's way too repetitive for a game this short. I understand wanting a powerful message, but if every scene is just the same thing over and over again, it just weakens the message and makes your characters seem bland. Since it's supposed to be the strong point of a visual novel, I really can't recommend it.
This game made me develop Stockholm Syndrome.

pretty cool experience, i'm not sure if the game is worth the price tag, but it enjoyed this game
