As a lonely lesbian, this game fills my heart with joy. It's just about dating girls, and there isn't any fan service either! Regardless of the simplistic graphics, it's incredible. I really recommend if you want a fun little wlw game!!

I wasn't expecting much of a ten-dollar open-world life sim, but Shoujo City still didn't clear the bar. With an uncooperative camera, clumsy controls, and inscrutable mechanics, the game even manages to fail to deliver on being a pleasant time-waster.
As others have noted in their reviews, the camera turns like molasses. it also has a tendency to get hung up on walls, shoving your zoom right in to the back of your character's head and leaving it there until you correct it manually. This was more of a problem in mouse lock mode, which seems like an afterthought because of how poorly it works. Not using mouse-lock, however, is a great way to get RSI, since you will need to constantly be clicking and dragging to look around as you make your way around. You'll already be flirting with carpal tunnel, though, because the walk speed is uselessly slow, requiring you to run constantly to get anywhere in a reasonable amount of time.
When you start a new game, you are told you must romance a girl within 7 days while keeping up with your studies and needs, but beyond that you are given no guidance as to how you might accomplish any of it. While there are some obvious interactable points around the world, others, like studying, are hidden until you sit at a desk in the correct room in the school. Even then, I wasn't able to figure out how to get my character to study — trying to use this interact point just gave me "you can't do that" messages.
Before you fail to study, however, you must get to the school. a process complicated by two things: despite the game's English text being advertised as 100% complete, the only text on the map is in Japanese. There are helpful icons, but more clarity would have been useful. Once you've managed to navigate where you need to go, however, you're dropped into a section of city and left to fend for yourself. The area isn't large, so you can find your way around eventually, but there is no map to help you find what you're looking for.
It was also difficult for me to find any of the romanceable girls. There is no indication of where they might be on the map and no guidance on romancing them in the game. You'd think it wouldn't be hard: the game's city areas are eerily devoid of life. However, there are just enough NPCs hanging around — shopkeepers, shop employees, little sisters — and the areas are just large enough that it took me most of the first day to even find one.
I recommend that if you buy it, only buy it on a deep discount and don't expect much.
