very fun and addicting.
I think there might be a good game in here, but if there is, it's buried under suuuuuuper tedious and time consuming make-work you have to do every single goddamn day over and over and over again. By the time I got a few days into the game, I was surprised I didn't have to cut down trees and manufacture toilet paper so I could manually wipe my ass every morning.
Get Project Zomboid instead,

its good
One of a kind sort of crafting/survival game. Would definitely recommend if you're looking for something fresh.
If your a gamer who hoards everything in any game, this is the game for you. One 's hoard of stuff some might call junk now will become useful later. Start from scratch scavenge materials from everyday items, build up your base, make contacts, trade for things you can't make yourself.
I'm really enjoying the game so far. However, a major problem for me is that the text size is very small and there's no way to increase it in the settings. Most of the time I can't really read what's on the screen so it's taken a lot longer to figure things out, and the interface is very small too so trying to move things from containers or click to pause the game is takes a few attempts and fiddly mouse movements. I'm a huge fan of this type of game so I'm gonna keep playing. But, It'd hugely improve my playing experience if there was an option to increase these in the settings.
good game
I gave myself plenty of time to try and get into this game but it was very slow and I found it boring. You basically are doing the same thing over and over again and it feels like a bad dream where you are sinking in quick sand or running in sand on the beach from a monster but you can't escape. I have to say I don't recommend this game unless you want something super chill. I bought it on sale and I don't even think it was worth that price. It should be free.
Fun game. Started to drag in the last few hours of beating it grinding for electrical parts, but otherwise good. 7/10
I love this game, it really satisfies the doomsday prepper itch! I would definitely recommend getting the animal dlc if you go to play this game as it just adds so much to the game. I would also recommend waiting until this game goes on sale, which is what I did since the regular price seemed a little too high for my liking.
Marvelous game. Did not encounter single bug or troubleshooting moment. Very rare novadays. Learning curve reasonable. I needed two tryouts before I was able to manage it for third time till the end.
Played for an hour and just could not get into it. The concept is nice, but it's incredibly slow and just doesn't grab you like it should. Cannot recommend. Maybe I'll give it a go some other time, but in a genre where there are so many amazing gems already out there, that seems doubtful.
Really really enjoyed this game
i find mr.prepper relaxing and interesting change from my multiplayer games i play im enjoying!
game is great
I absolutely love this game! If you like a good time management sim and the idea of taking on an overbearing government entity, I urge you to buy this game.
Симулятор КНДР
I have lost SO much progress SO many times because of the regular crashing...
Good fun. Not sure if it's for everyone, but I'm having a good time.
I want to enjoy this game because the background story is interesting, but too bad I just can't...
The control feels not good, not intuitive and just clunky... In the end I just give up after playing just 1+ hour time.
I know this is more of in subjective side... But that's just how I felt.
Pros:
- The story
Cons:
- The gameplay (the grinds feels non-essential)
- The Controls
Final Score:
2.5/5
Nice Game
Mr. Prepper, a doomsday prepping simulator from PlayWay S.A., the Polish publisher behind other horror games like The Beast Inside and Lust for Darkness.
This time the target is American doomsday prepping…sort of. While engaging at times, it doesn’t quite seem to nail either the simulation or the parody.
The setting is a key aspect here, and instead of a desert commune or cabin-turned-compound in the Montana mountains, the titular Mr. Prepper lives in a sort of Stepford Wives parody of the suburbs in the very near future.
Beneath the glossy veneer, however, lies the terrible truth: the United States have been taken over by authoritarians and monitored by secret police, so on top of building a bunker, stockpiling food and doing other “prepper” activities, you’ve also got to hide your activities.
Conceptually, this could be brilliant fuel for either satire or chilling speculative fiction. Alas, the presentation is toothless here, stripped bare of anything remotely controversial. And as for satire, our picture-perfect, overly surveilled town is called “Murricaville,” and that’s about as subtle as things get.
Mechanically speaking, Mr. Prepper is a crafting game with excursions for more crafting materials, and a solid if mostly unexceptional one.
On the positive side, there are some beautifully rendered areas outside to explore, especially the forests, where you can come across NPCs like an herbalist and huntress. There are also loads of crafting recipes and plenty of options as far as breaking down, rebuilding and redesigning the interior of your house and the subterranean bunker beneath it.
Unfortunately, it lacks a certain compulsive quality to balance out the constant grind. And on a more concrete and specific level, Mr. Prepper can be extremely finicky with item placement and interaction; I got stuck during the tutorial because a ceiling light I’d placed high up on the wall in my bunker was apparently blocking me from putting a workbench on the floor underneath it.
Ultimately, Mr. Prepper feels like a game that can’t commit; thematically, it throws bones to conservative antipathy of government interference and liberal distrust of nationalism and religiosity, but given both the recent developments of things like the QAnon movement and the storied history of anti-government doomsday preppers going back to David Koresh and before, this feels like a missed chance to do something really interesting with the themes and ideas.
Not to mention that generally speaking, actual preppers’ goals are typically to hunker down and survive the apocalypse, whereas the end-game here is to actually escape (by building a rocket, no less, though occasional bits of absurdity like this don’t quite add up to a consistent comedic through-line).
If all you’re after is some casual crafting, Mr. Prepper probably fits the bill, but games like This War of Mine or the bleak and brilliant Sheltered scratch the same itch for scavenging and building while also providing some bonus narrative gravitas.
Verdict: 6/10
there's no way this game is worth $20. the controls are bad, the graphics generic, the dialogue boring and I can't imagine playing this for more than a few hours.
you can probably find a better phone game for free.
1/10 due to price. I won't refund the game though because technically it has a unique gameplay and seems to be complete with no bugs or glaring errors; it's my fault for not investigating before purchasing.
great game. but it's missing out some details like sleeping in the car in case something happens
Boring reptetive quests like "Find bob's jacket" "Find 8 mushrooms" and the game progression and character movement is painfully slow. You are better off with another bunker game such as sheltered.
This needs to get urgently at the status of "Overwhelmingly Positive".
I want to like this game but I just don't. Super grindy, super slow, I have no motivation to progress. After 25 hours in game nothing significant has changed. I've lost interest, it just isn't fun.
1. The base-building elements have bugs when stacking items and trying to place object. Things should be able to be placed atop rugs and spacing should work properly.
2. OMG the grammar! Who translated this game??? They CLEARLY need a native editor/reviewer; or just an AI or Grammarly, for crying out loud!
3. Game freezes when trying to exit the fishing mini-game despite the bug report saying it's fixed.
4. Lag/Stutter causes loss when playing. I lost plenty of fish I needed for a quest because the game stuttered as the circles approached the center mini-game target.
5. Some achievements are extremely hard to obtain. (e.g. Gentleman. You need not run for 7 in-game days, but when the game lags and stutters, the game speedily processes the things you clicked on or buttons you pressed, causing them to be double-tapped. Double-tapping or holding down the left mouse button causes the character to run.)
6. The fishing mini-game and its accompanying quest (Fishing Time) are broken, too.
6.a. I went through 179 Great Baits with an expert fishing pole and did not find a single Yellow Perch!
6.b. I tried another 62 Great Baits with a good pole and that didn't do the trick, either.
6.c. I also tried to catch the Red Salmon using 87 Good Baits with the expert pole and 42 Good Baits with the good pole as well.
6.d. A full week later IRL (on and off for a couple hours a day, of course) and about a month in-game time, with not a one of those fish caught.
6.e. It takes forever to get enough bait, too, since you can only buy 10 per day from the trader.
That's all I'm saying for now. I'm done and the game and its devs need serious help.
fun game, but the grind gets annoying after a while. I just hit a bug where I will buy food/ingredients from the supermarket but it's not showing up in my inventory. Very frustrating. going to un-install the game. I'm glad I only spent a few bucks on it.
Very addictive game. Think Sims, but with conspiracies and underground bunkers.
If you enjoy simulation games, this is a good one.
There are minor things that bug me, like how the building/cooking menu is structured. Having the ability to queue tasks would've also been great.
This aside, I am fully enjoying it.
Not sure if it is replayable. I got it on a sale for 5$, so even if not, it's still money well spent for the hours i have played so far.
It's okay. I was hoping for a more base management game, but its basically a standard resource collecting survival game.
I don't really understand why this game has such a high positive review. I liked the look of the game, and really wanted to enjoy it, but I don't. It feels as though it was made for mobile, like tablets or something. When I play it, it feels like I am playing an old flash game.
It is extremely grindy, and highly linear. You work to reach a certain milestone, get to it, and then continue onwards. While there is a heavy grind for resources, there was no sense of fear of the government, because I didn't need to use any of the resources in my house to do anything. Because nothing from the house was missing, and it is super easy to hide everything you are doing underground, there was no tension.
I don't see what the appeal of this game is, how people can find it fun, or play it for long periods of time. It was boring, lacklustre, bland, and clunky; and I honestly don't even know what more I could possibly say about it, there really just feels like there is nothing here.
I really want to like this game, but I just don't. I've tried a few times to get into it. I've got an itch for this type of game, that the developer just doesn't scratch. It's just a little too janky and cartoony.
Bless the prressadont even think so.
6/10
Scrapes a recommendation, good, if more than a little formulaic.
Fun to play and work your way through!
Sort of boring. Would be great for mobile phones, but not for PC.
Wonderful game. I'm a huge fan of dystopian/'survival' games and this just perfectly encapsulates (so far) everything I like in a game. Nice work :)
f you're into survival and simulation games, Mr. Prepper is a fantastic choice! The gameplay is easy to pick up, and although it takes a bit of figuring out in the beginning, once you get the hang of it, everything flows smoothly. One of the standout features is the creativity you're allowed when building and customizing your bunker—it's really fun to design it to your liking. While there's no dedicated Steam support, the game's creators and their support team are very responsive. I initially experienced some delays on Steam, but once I reached out on Discord, they resolved my issue within minutes. Overall, it's a fun and engaging game with lots of potential for creativity!
Good game
Very amusing game, I have really enjoyed playing with it. It provides an different gameplay perspective, not the n+1th FPS or TPS or strategy game. I recomment you to buy it, you won't regret it. I can't wait for the sequel.
The game is fun and the premise is its best part but there is some jank to it and some of the mechanics and systems aren't explained as well as I would like. If you catch it on a sale it's prob worth your time if you like the genre.
Very simple game. I must say that the story (introducing new characters along the way) is very interesting. Well done to the developers!
I played the prologue for quite a bit and kept getting stuck. I liked how the game was made and thought I'd buy the full product and see how it played compared to the prologue. What a difference.
The game Mr. Prepper is a good game to play. The handling is a bit cumbersome at first, because it's a lot of point-and-click, but once you get the knack of it, it plays really well.
The idea of preparing for the worst isn't quite new, but having a government that is always poking its nose in your business gives the plot a twist.
Once you have your first bunker section, move your plan from the bedroom to the bunker. One less thing to think about.
Some days you are just holed up in your house fine-tuning things. Other days you are out in the mine and totally forget time. Careful, you must sleep and eat regularly and also build things to have your preparedness at a peak level. Otherwise you will faint.
There a possibly a lot more things to find in this game, as I only have nine hours on the clock, but I'll keep it going. It's worth it.....
Prepper out.
The game has its moments, but overall it is sloppy and not very good. It captures a sense of every conspiracy theory out there being literally true, but not comprehensively so, and having finished the game I am left wanting for something greater. It has many moments where you laugh out loud, but then you cry because you have to grind through minigames that are somewhat obscure at first and grindy after you figure them out. I got stuck because I couldn't find the fourth computer in the AI core room and there were other similar frustrating little experiences all over the game. There are graphical glitches and the animations are often pretty bad, but at the same time it has a certain charm - it feels like you're playing a youtube ad. The enemies you encounter are repetetive and basically all the same, you just keep spamming the attack button until you win. Another disappointment was that there is no endgame, I stockpiled a bunch of food and ammo for absolutely no reason, when after seeing a nuke go off I thought I would have had to survive in a postapocalyptic hellscape. The game is grindy and it rewards that grind by ending too soon for it to have mattered. The pacing of the game is terrible and it should morph into a base management game later on.
Deceptively large game, with equally deceptive depth.
This game is very well made. It has nice graphics, good mechanics, fun things to explore, cool theme.
But it also has a major problem, tasks are very repetitive, and the game cycle is too short which means that tasks have to be repeated more often. It often feels like artificially wasting time, instead of actually progressing in the game.
I think the concept is cool, and I do not regret buying it, but it does not quite feel like a full game.
Its a yes but I wish the promise shown in the early satire and general humour was continued. Good mechanics, inconsistent narrative or purpose, value for money, replayable to a degree, at times very funny 'this is standard practice'
Mr. Prepper was a fun game. I definitely recommend a purchase when on sale. It is fairly simple and easy to get into. There's much to do and a bit of a grind but it's not anything that's too much. Stay paranoid and prepared. You can take your time or hurry through the game. It's really up to you.
The main problem I found while playing is that sometimes you are not told exactly what to do or where to go. This happened to me late in the game several times. An extra word or two would have made the difference. The good thing is most of the problems can be solved with a visit to Google.
One area would not release me back into the game world so I was stuck for over 30 minutes. That wasn't something I found on Google. My character went through a doorway into an area which was out of my field of vision. I had to blindly click areas of the screen until the game registered that I was trying to leave the area. It was very frustrating.
