I'd say this game is definitely good, wouldn't say as great as the first as they caught lightning in a bottle that time but it's still very good if you're looking for a dystopian game.
Awesome game that tests your morals. It is like George Orwell's 1984 book.
Having not played the first game I had no idea what to expect but I must say I was thoroughly impressed! Oddly enough, the closest game to this I would say is Kindergarten, where you have a certain number of actions in a day before you have to go to bed. It makes every day feel tense as the consequences of your poor actions keep piling up. Nevertheless, with enough trial and error, it was truly satisfying to get to the top of the corporate ladder! Just don't play this game if you want to have a corporate job in the future - it will put you off.
im not a big fan of the government
The vibe is awesome.
one of my favorite games ever. i enjoyed beholder 1 and 3 but this game felt so much better and more interesting. I did multiple play throughs and was able to get 100% completion. enjoyed every minute and would recommend
While the game is engaging, specifically from a story perspective, the gameplay loop of sorting complaints into different departments get tedious quickly and is far less addictive than the spying of the first game. An ambitious game that is less Beholder-sequel and more Beholder-coat-of-paint.
5 / 10
좋은 의미에서 악몽을 꾸는 느낌이었다.
(In a good sense) I felt like I was having a nightmare.
More personalistic than first one, but not boring.
"Five Minutes of Hatred" nice one, mate
♥
Good game
Literally 1984
I prefer the 1st one over this any day. You would have to pay me per hour to play this again.
I like the feel of this game, maybe even better than the first one
I loved the first game. Your family and home life are curiously missing in this sequel. It is painfully obvious that the formula that made the first one pure gold was not applied to this game. I lost interest in like 30 minutes.
Welcome to the Ministry, where your dream job involves snitching, scheming, and deciding whether to climb the corporate ladder or burn it down. Beholder 2 takes the Orwellian nightmare of its predecessor and cranks it up, throwing you into a morally twisted bureaucratic circus. Will you be a loyal bootlicker or a secret revolutionary? Either way, expect dark humor, brutal choices, and a lot of paperwork.
With its grim yet oddly hilarious storytelling, creepy art style, and endless ethical dilemmas, Beholder 2 makes bureaucracy feel terrifyingly fun. Just remember: in this job, “wrong choices” often mean “mysterious disappearances.”
Beholder 2
Has a total of 6 trading cards.
Genuinely one of the greatest games I have ever played. I love the puzzles and the work mini games. The attention to details and story is phenomenal. I can't believe this game is so cheap. This game is an absolute must play.
Has potential, but ultimately was frustrating. You work for the government and one of the main things you have to do is direct visitors to the correct ministry of the government, in order to handle their request/problem. You have to figure out the right ministry based on what the visitors tell you. I had a really hard time guessing the right ministry. It feels ambiguous, like you either aren't given enough information or the ministry descriptions the game gives you just aren't clear enough. Either way, it's the part of the game that you have to grind and it feels frustrating and not fun.
The story and the characters are interesting, but having to grind through the guessing game of your job is what made me nope out of this game. I don't recommend it.
Finished in 10 hours too easy
Chinese simulator
So it became quickly apparent that the minigames which are a big part of the core gameplay, just aren't fun when it's a necessity to grind them to pay bills.
I ended up following a walkthrough to find out how to complete the game without having to replay the minigames after realising it how onerous they were.
This game is generally okay if you play, screw up a few times and end up going "aww that was my fault" - and never try to complete it. But the problem is that core parts of the game which use up your time just aren't engaging and don't really have a payoff - aside from avoiding getting evicted (ending the game), or earning achievements. The story is not worth it, it's a nonsensical combination of I, Robot (the movie) and Orwell (another undercooked game).
It's a pity too because the OG beholder was such a novel idea and actually quite engaging, but running back and forth from the security gate to home, and then having to grind random maths combination puzzles (for several hours) to get enough authority points to finish the game, taints its legacy. Only ever buy this on sale and if you don't enjoy it for the aesthetics, don't bother with the grind.
Esta bien, lamentablemente nos muestra un final canon de la primera entrega.... eso me deprimio.
The game is not for me. I think beholder 1 is much fun as you play as a landlord. In beholder 2 u gotta process all those complaints and reports every day which is very boring. I m tired of doing all that to progress the story
Great Game!
I really like the new time management that feels more Persona (your actions take up time) and less headless chicken running around trying to complete tasks. It allows me to focus more on my moral actions and less on stressing out doing things the correct way. The gameplay of going out from your apartment at night to explore and ending up with one of those CYOA type games was loads of fun too, spicing up the gameplay of the first Beholder.
The biggest selling point for me is that you can be a far more chaotic evil, psychopathic scumbag here than the first game. It's like what Randy Meeks said about sequels. Number one: the body count is always bigger. Number two: the death scenes are always much more elaborate. Carnage candy. You get a lot more elaborate gore scenes here to the point where one of the achievements literally referenced DOKA 2. Deep cut.
Of course, there is one big gripe, however: the minigames. They're just awful, even with a guide. I'm only in the 2nd minigame, and half the times, I almost fell asleep. I like that you can basically breeze through the 2nd minigame though without the help of a guide, but it's still kinda tedious.
It's not a dealbreaker though... at least not yet. I heard minigame 3 is worse, so that might be the straw that break me. But for now, I feel like the deliciously evil choices make up for it. I kinda wish more games would be ambitious enough to throw in these evil decisions in the game that makes you question your sanity and morality. Like, this game makes Baldur's Gate 3's Durge/murderhobo run look tame.
Recommended for those who love games where your decisions have great meaning and interactions like myself.
Edit: Yeah, minigame 3 sucks. But to be honest, you could just speedrun through it by hitting "Apply" when at least three bulbs light up. You'll get the minimum amount of profit, but by that point of the game, money shouldn't be a problem anyway. I think they've also changed it from minimum five bulbs to increase the quota, so that's great.
cool
yes
Beholder 2 is not just a simulator of the USSR, but a game with a deep plot that shows how badly this world is corrupted. Let’s take for example the “Good Samaritan” achievement, which only 37.7% of players have, although it can be obtained at the very beginning if you help Morris collect papers, so not only are people in this game rotten, but 62.3% of players are like that
Beholder 2 greatly expands upon the entirey of the series' worldbuilding and excels at pushing a rather hm ordinary dystopian story at first glance toward something hardly describable with words.
this game is worth replaying, too, since i picked the debatably bloodiest way to play it first and foremost, but i'll def go through this again at some point.
having not so much to do with the first game's gameplay, i probably liked that even more in this game, especially as it varies as you progress higher and higher up the Ministry.
if the first game was hugely Orwellian, this one here gets more original. it also elaborates on some of the prequel's obscurities, e.g. you get to know why the state outlawed damn APPLES. peak!
1985/10 orwellall. overall. yeah.
All Hail the Supreme Leader!
Beholder 2 presents a polished adventure experience steeped in a dark, oppressive atmosphere. Players assume the role of Evan Redgrave, a new employee at a totalitarian Ministry, where the narrative unfolds amidst bureaucratic intrigue and personal mystery.
The game excels in storytelling, offering a multitude of choices that enhance replayability and keep the plot engaging. However, the gameplay is marred by frustrating and repetitive mini-games, which can detract from the overall enjoyment.
For those who appreciate rich narratives and the freedom to forge their own path within a game, Beholder 2 is a compelling choice.
the game is a big upgrade over the original in my opinion, but there is a constant need to save as frequently as possible in order to not get screwed. i do love the mocking tone of the game and how it makes fun of every selection in the aisle in terms of ideology. the creators are clearly well-versed in literature regarding political theory such as communism, marxism, & totalitarianism. the constant need to save for worst possible outcomes and severe over-reliance on loading screens in between gameplay segments are my biggest complaints but this basically does everything you could ask for in terms of a sequel to the original beholder.
One of the best games I've ever played.
I played the game for 7 hours and got to a part where i was not able to keep going........ i made one wrong choice and then there is no way out of being punished if you dont have the right stuff..... now i would have to start the game all over and play 7 hours again to get back where i was to keep going.
I liked this sequel game even more than the original since my favourite genre is story focused RPGs - the original had a stronger focus on resource and time management. Great depiction of the hellish bureaucratic nightmare the Soviet Union was, the creators did a good job balancing the dark historical references with humorous moments. You play as a newly transferred public servant and gradually uncover why your father disappeared.
Одна из лучших игр которых я проходил. Миллион исходов сюжета, 10 отросших крыльев из 10.
Beholder 2 is a total subversion of Beholder 1, presenting an absurdly radical change on an aesthetic and mechanical level, and what a change! We went from a small 2D environment, where we had to control an apartment complex and its tenants, to moving through a huge 3D environment, full of activities, and a long and interesting car of characters, with an honest variety of possibilities to interact with them. It would be difficult for me to find fault with this game in any area, since I genuinely have no words to describe the absolutely flawless execution from start to finish, especially the twists and turns the plot throws at you throughout the story.
If I really wanted to complain about something, it's that there are no reasons to support the Inner Circle at any point in the game, and if there are they are minimal and not really worth considering, but beyond this, I can only define Beholder 2 as a masterpiece and one of the best sequels in the entire video game industry.
I've not played the first one and i bought this game on sale, but I don't regret it at all. this game is definitely more out of my comfort zone of normal games but I enjoy playing this game a lot. the storyline is pretty easy to follow and the art style is so good
My wife said if this review gets 50 likes and 5 awards, she will buy a case of beer, guys help me out.
Good
This game is preparing me for life in America if Trump wins a second term! Thank you for getting me ready for our possible dystopian dictatorship. 8/10 would dystopia again.
i got the nerd to commit suicide.
This is quite an interesting game and is very different to what I usually play. The atmosphere and setting of the game is really disturbing and depressing, which is by design. The story just makes you sad when going through it. I don't usually like engaging with media like this that is designed to make you uncomfortable, and although I feel that this game is very well-made, I can't say I really enjoyed my time with it or will be playing it again.
This game is full to the brim of different choices to make to affect the story and the characters in the world. Some choices are trivial and some can affect the story and the fates of different characters. When going through the different floors, all of the coworkers need to be eliminated from the competition, by either by convincing them to drop out or by removing them yourself. I usually tried to convince them to drop out, but I couldn't figure out how to do that for some of them. At that point, I would need to resort to getting them removed by force, which I didn't really enjoy doing. Also, the deskwork that needs to be done on each floor is super boring (likely by design) and only serves to award money and suck up time from the actually interesting parts of the game.
Games that have different endings and game-affecting choices like this game always end up bothering me in some way because I know there is more content to see, but the only way to see all of it is to play through the game at least once more, if not many more times (or watch it on YouTube, which feels lame). Most of the time, I don't want to play again, so I am just left to deal with the fact that I will not see everything in the game.
The game is clearly designed well and definitely has a story and message to tell, but it just isn't what I usually like to play.
This game, while very different from the first, met my expectations in most ways. The storyline was compelling, and ethical decision making took front and center, which is what I love so much about the Beholder games.
Pros:
- Compelling story with difficult choices
- Very nicely linked to the first game
- Shows a different part of life in the Greatest Union
- Shocking plot twists
- Interesting characters
- Allows for many different stories to play out
- Daily timer
- Mysteries to unravel
- You can’t save everyone
Cons:
- Art style is inferior to 1 and 3 (IMO)
- Character stories don't really matter for the ending
- Surveillance aspect is mostly eliminated
- No family to look after
- Knowledge of the series needed to understand the story
- Many achievements require excessive grinding
Overall, Beholder 2 was a great game, and, while definitely the darkest of the series, it brings up ideas of life in a totalitarian state, the balance between good and evil, and who is trustworthy and who is not.
it doesn't seem anything like the first one and i'm too bored to go on
Here's your review with grammar corrections:
**Best part of the trilogy.** Awesome atmosphere, way more relatable characters, variety in terms of quests - overall, just a good dystopian game. The character can work on different floors with different tasks, which is nice and immersive. I really liked the co-workers' conversations that make the world really feel alive. Not only that, but there are also different ways to achieve goals; you can once more be more cruel or be that one good guy.
However, some tasks are a bit dull, like the one with clones. I did the bare minimum and stopped doing those. I felt like the higher I go, the less I care for coworkers, so it would be cool to have more dramatic stories towards the end (like the mom who sees her son in you, that was my favorite).
Overall, a solid game in a dystopian setting. I hope **Beholder 4** will be similar to this one. <3
Forsy game is a survailance-landlord simulator where you have to tiptoe between doping whats best for your family, and whats best for your conscience.
The second one fails in that aspekt in my opinion. The gameplay is a bit streamlined, but nothing to the point that would make game drastically different. The story is however completelly lackluster. There is no family to care for (they exist in the background), fate of you colleagues does not matter in the ending. And ending goes into weird scifi areas in my opinion, which does not fit for communism/brutalism setting.
And do not have me start what the game did to the protagonist of first game - basically making any choices you made in there pointless in the end.
Yes
I see what the game is trying to do, but it is failing at coming to the same standards as the last game. This game can get really repetitive and boring. At the time I'm writing this, I've played for 8 hours but it feels like I've played for way longer. I just can't bring myself to finish this game. I had big hopes for it, I went in blind and with a defensive mindset, trying to see some of the positive things and to have a reason to give a good review for this game, but this to me seems like a failed project turned into a desperate cashgrab.
