too bad we need a 2025 version.

Love this game. One can focus on "big picture" management. Lay rails switching not a worry. Graphics were not the best on day one, time hasn't been kind to it that way. While not as pretty, I still find it more enjoyable. Stock market can be your end if not wary of it. Lost a few games via hostile takeover.

The game crashes on the opening menu. I've read through a number of posts on how to install patches and fixes to get to the game to work, but all of this is from unofficial sources and so I haven't gone through the bother to make the changes.

The game has a lot of bugs with integrating the sound system with current computer setups. Running on max min proton 3 and cannot run game at full screen unless years ears chalkboard. We need older proton verions for this game to work.

Me and a friend enjoy the multiplayer but its a bit buggy yet this classic gem is fun to play and we enjoy the Tycoon building. Devs if you see this what is happening is random tracks spawn on our maps. I know this is 2003 and back then there wasnt dev teams to fix glitches but you'll be amazed who's still playing your game. Thank you

This is a fun game. It is old. I used to play it when it first came out on CD. You will have to download and install the fix that is mentioned in some of the comments to get it to work.

Still the GOAT train management game. It doesn't have the intricate details of other games, you can't place signals or even quadruple track or anything, and there's invisible passing sidings everywhere, but this just streamlines the core gameplay of finding profitable industries, finding the best way to build track between them, financing, and then running trains. It's not a perfect smooth experience for this purpose; I think the ideal train game would make it easier to group trains and change cargo consists in bulk, but nothing I am aware of even comes close to being as smooth of a focused experience on this aspect of railroad management. Also, it's old as shit, and is a pain in the ass to get running on windows. It's plug and play on Linux though.

If you have Windows 11 don't bother getting this game it doesn't work. Steam has no fix for making it work. Save your money. Only Railroad Tycoon 2 works with no problems from Steam.

Very poor experience with this game. It crashed when it started on a Windows 11 computer. When I uninstalled it, it ran well on a Microsoft Surface Pro. Go figure! It seems to be a reasonable update from the original Railroads! But it obviously has bugs!

A classic that is fun and challenging to play.

It's the best train game ever. The one and only downside is I wish there was a sequel or a proper game to replace it. Since it's over 20 years old now lol
