18+ VN with a Match 3 game element.
What I liked
----
-Music: Despite there being 2-3 songs, they are catchy. The mini-game one sounds oddly familiar.
-Art: It's decent. I really do like the match 3 chibi heads.
-Full voice acting
-(Assuming you get the 18+ patch installed) Seiko is the heroin in the H-scenes cause, well, she's the VA. So it makes sense and the idea is refreshing to see.
What I DON'T like
----
The primary issue with this game has to do with the 18+ patch in some way. I don't understand why'd you make a suggestive game and have it's core part removed. Must be a law I am unaware of of something.
-Translation: If you haven't seen the other reviews, yes, the EN translation is abysmal. Some dialogue criticizes H-games and at times comes of as the game doing 4th wall meta and does serious self deprecating. Ironic, really. Some sentences make no sense and ruins the scenes. Here is an excerpt "And Seiko who stained white to the whites is
-Length: This game is incredibly short. Without the 18+ patch, the game is 2x shorter and the cuts are so abrupt and doesn't fit well with some areas of dialogue. INITIALLY the game had a cut off point with a blatant "To be continued?" WTF is this BS? I thought the game ended there and TBH it might as well. I'm starting to believe they didn't have an ending planned.
I had to do some digging and there was a post patch that added one more section to the game- HOWEVER apparently you need to reach level 35 to unlock the final event/audition, but the level increase is SO SLOW even with the higher match combos to to put salt on the wound the game doesn't even set a goal for it like the previous events and left me in the dark. Really, why level 35? There are reports of people who reach lvl 40 and the event still doesn't trigger.
-H-scene Sound Design: it is not good. Could have been better.
Overall, I guess you get what you payed for and I don't remember how I even acquired this game. Best bet is Humblebundle. Didn't finish, nor do I want to. Can't believe I have to grind a VN.
Bad translation and the game looks like this:
A few lines of text, a mini-game, a scene with recording + a scary sound as if a killer was lurking around the corner, an end of day animation...
Minigame, recording, a few lines of text, end of day animation...
You repeat it xXx times until you run out of points / level...
Minigame x10+ times to score points / level to be able to play the next part of the story...
A few lines of text, end of day animation, mini-game, recording, a few lines of text, and again end of day animation...
This game is a mockery of VN etc...
It's good that there is no way to achieve achievement, because I am a hunter of achievements and I would hang myself in the process...
It is better than ending this game...
Translations are abysmal and make the game almost unplayable entirely. Art is perfectly fine and gameplay is enjoyable otherwise, but the translations are so bad that it hinders every other aspect of the game altogether.
the difficulty gets kind of insane the translations are kind of horrendus tbh but overall aside from that its a fun game and interesting
bish bash bosh.
this game's posh.
nothing else said.
should have read.
I bought this for no reason at all, just thought that I'd buy Something with the rest of my money..?
This is a cute little puzzle game with Japanese voice acting. There also is some type of story, I cant review this since I do not like to read text when playing games.
If you're living with someone else it's adviced to use headphones the sonds are rather lewd. The story of the game is good and with a patch its almost excellent. Downside is that the end turns into a grinder for points.
I'll rate it 8/10 worth the price
At one point, the main character says, “I don’t understand the point of this game…”
Of course, she’s talking about an audition, but still I found myself chuckling away.
So, what is that point of this game? Honestly, I’m not sure, yet I feel compelled to keep going, as there’s something entertaining and bewildering about it.
Now, how did I end up buying this game? Honestly, I have no idea how I ended up pressing the “buy” button. Perhaps it was from a lack of sleep (entirely unrelated to any themes in this game, might I add) or simply because it came under the anime tag? How I got here will remain undecided but perhaps I should have paid a LITTLE more attention to the themes? The main reason I gave this a go was because it said there was full Japanese voice acting and I have been learning Japanese for the last few months. I thought it might be helpful.
In fact, it will be extremely useful…next time I’m in Shinjuku and accidentally walk into the shadier backstreets of the vibrant ward. You know where I mean...My vocabulary of Japanese words will surely improve. This isn’t the stuff they teach you in night classes. Not the ones I’ve been attending, anyway!
So, there is a loose plot. You’re a voice actress and you partake in auditions and records to pass to the next stage, or so it appears. You do this by doing a time-based gem-blasting game. You know the sort, three or more in a row and boom! You start earning points.
So, if anyone in your house understands Japanese, I suggest you turn the voice acting off at this point, as your character is about to get a little fruity—if you do well, that is—and by level 6, I started to wonder if clothes were going to come off…and made similar noises when I was just a little bit off getting the score I needed…
Perverseness aside, I find myself liking this game, despite not having the foggiest idea what the point to it is. In fact, I’d have been pretty much entertained without the plot and just playing increasing levels of the icon-blasting game. I suppose the theme is r-rated to attract a certain type of player. If you’re into that kind of thing, you won’t be disappointed because my goodness can the voice actor squeak and groan. The stuff she says is so filthy, it’s borderline amusing! At least I can look at it that way. Possibly helped by the English translations. Talking about translations, the English isn’t perfect and I don’t think they understand capital I’s but it could be so much worse. For me, it doesn’t matter as I wanted the Japanese.
The images are well drawn but I’m a fan of the anime style, so I would enjoy that. The soundtrack is repetitive but I made it quiet, so that I could hear the voice acting. Where there is storyline, the English is a little rough but I’m surprised there is a storyline honestly. I’m not sure exactly what this game is trying to achieve but I’m worried about how addictive it became…
During the icon-blast game, it can sometimes be difficult to see legitimate trails, but that’s my only real c-c-c-complaint. It does actually get quite hard (I’m sorry, I can’t help myself…) after a while, to beat the levels in the amount of time that you’ve got.
Well... I apparently acquired this game during one of my hyper periods. I can only guess that is the cause, since Dieselmine is... not necessarilly the best choice of developer if you want a coherant game. Mostly because I think they use machine translation.
Anyway, this is a kinetic novel with some Match-3 elements. On top of that, there are a few scenes that are only available if you download a patch... And I think most of the scenes are reproductions of voice work in eroge games. And not incidents that happen to the characters themselves. Though for some reason these games tend to have sprites with the same look as the actors themselves... is someone spying on them?
Anyway, it is a mindless game with semi-poor translation and not really of much substance. Only recommending because it is cheap.
Well its a very cool and a bit hard puzzle game i really like it... wtf is this r18 patch doing in my game folder...... IT WASN'T ME I SWEAR SOMEONE IS HACKING MY PC!!!!
I spent more time on this game than reasonable and it was the most mind-numbing experience in my life. After realizing I fully cleared the story and bought every item I was dissapointed. The concept of the storybook anime game without any nudity or real sexual content is a very novel idea, but the game lacks a substance of story. With the plot lying too far in between the grinding necessary to get it, the game felt very repetitive and gimmicky. The game would be much better if there was more story to it, and not just more after the current ending, but a higher density of story between each level.
This could be quite an enjoyable game but the translation killed it for sure. For me at least. I could barely read the santances as they were so poorly translated. Even worse than an online translator engine. But a few good words as well. The BGM and the voice-acting is pretty good and the CGs and character designs looked good too. The match-3 idea isn't that bad but it feels like the focus is more on that than the actual story of the game. If the translation could be fixed then this game would be a lot more enjoyable.
I reccomend this game. First I do like the story (I think many voice actors of eroge can relate to how awkward it could be). I also like the game itself, when trying to actually help the heroine out. However, the one thing that is a little off-putting is the English translation. I would suggest that, that part would be fixed up. Otherwise, I still will reccomend this game, and hope to see more like this in the future.
There's no ending of this game?
Mine already lv 30 and 101 days passed still playing the mini game?!
Also, When i'm playing the mini game, i feel horny at the same time. Can't consentrate at all.
The puzzle part is fun but everything else is trash. Not really in an amusing way either. Also horrid translation.
The only reason I'm not refunding this is so that my negative review won't disappear. Might be redeemable if you could play a puzzle-only mode.
Well this game is simple and fun. It's cheap and the game play is decent. The only problem is the quality of the translation. Most of the time it feels like it's been auto traslated and not even proofread.
All in all, fun game was worth the 99 cents I payed for it.
This is a neutral review as I will neither give a positive nor negative review for this game to be consistent with my group's curator list entry for the following reasons below. I am also writing this as a review to describe more about the game and as a way to reach the developer as a series of suggestions to improve on other games released in future.
This kinetic visual novel as a slice of life drama with Match 3, resource management and roleplaying game(RPG) mechanics features a female student Seiko Yonekura who is also a wannabe voice actress with dreams of auditioning for a voice acting role in various eroge anime productions. With a male classmate Yusuke Takeshima as a veteran voice actor with a larger network of contacts, Seiko hopes to earn fame and a network of fans for herself as well as the opportunity to audition for various roles alongside Yusuke.
The kinetic visual novel will transit towards the arcade Match 3 aspect of the game where various cute chibi heads and diamonds are scattered around the screen. Gameplay involves drawing a line by clicking, holding and releasing left mouse button across 3 or more same chibi heads or diamonds and popping them to earn points, diamonds and experience points(xp) to succeed in various audition roles, buy various items at store and to gain levels, unlock progressively more difficult audition roles and score more points respectively. Scoring longer chain combos will give more points, build up score multiplier, Seiko might say something in Japanese with speech balloons and also spawn bombs which can be used to pop all surrounding chibi heads and diamonds during strategic intervals or at the end of the Match 3 game which has a time limit of 2 minutes. The player is allowed to cause a shakeup of all objects within the Match 3 playable area by clicking on the sprite of Seiko or pressing the Spacebar on keyboard when caught in a dead-end or mismatching puzzle and possible moves will have adjacent matching items clearly highlighted whenever any object is clicked with left mouse button for the first time. At the end of the game, Seiko's accumulated xp, level and earned diamonds will be saved and these can be earned cumulatively.
When Seiko reaches the minimum level required to unlock the next audition, the game will transit back to the kinetic visual novel where Seiko will land an audition to provide the voice actress role for a different eroge production(Up to 10 altogether in this game). The game will transit back to the Match 3 aspect where Seiko may choose to audition for the eroge production. The audition will have a progressively higher score requirement to succeed and Seiko may attempt each audition test as many times until success with all earned xp, diamonds and later fans being retained. Upon succeeding at an audition, the censored Steam version will just show a black screen with the words Recording and skip over to the slice of life drama aspect of the game. If the uncensor patch is installed, a series of H-scenes with voiced dialogue will be played as an addition to the kinetic visual novel before transiting back to the game story progression in Seiko's role as a student. After Day 20 in the game, the store will be unlocked where the player may buy additional sound equipment to improve the points scored in subsequent Match 3 games, a different outfit for each different character sprite or recordings of all successful audition roles(with H-patch installed only).
Reading through the kinetic visual novel and playing through the Match 3 games to level up, unlock and succeed in all 10 auditions will require less than 10 hours. I decided to give this game a neutral review based on the following factors:
The Match 3 gameplay is casual and forgiving for most players and is not excessively grindy although it may become tedious after the first few hours as there are no other additional unlockable content and there are also no other bonus items that can help boost the score multiplier or alter the puzzle in the Match 3 playable area significantly to keep things interesting which is always a round circular area with no other obstacles.
The kinetic visual novel suffers from many translation errors in the English version, some of which do not even make sense and I had to change the language settings to Chinese to understand the text or dialogue more clearly. (Eg: "I have a familiar look in the current picture" while in Chinese it is read as “我在别的地方看過那些畫” which actually means I have seen these pictures somewhere else before)
In the censored Steam version, there are less than 5 CGs in game while there are at least 10 additional CGs with accompanying BGM and voiced dialogue in uncensor patch.
Game ends on a cliffhanger ending with an unsatisfying "To be continued?" (Even in Chinese language settings) in text window.
After thinking through all the above factors and taking Dieselmine's record of releasing relatively inexpensive visual novels or role playing games with attractive cover artwork, I decided to write this review to express my sincere wish to take some of these suggestions into consideration for a sequel to the game and in future game releases.
Do consider expanding more on the non-adult segment of the game and give more nice CGs(ie. the slice of life drama with Seiko as a student interacting with Yusuke). The part about Seiko being a student and then finding out later that her classmate Yusuke is a veteran voice actor whom she idolizes and the encounter with a mystery person Masashi Tokiwa could potentially be more interesting with improved translation quality for the game in English to make up for the game having no Steam achievements and for those who prefer to play the game censored.
The part about Seiko and Yusuke appearing in the eroge productions are confusing as I was under the impression that they are only recording and submitting their voice acting recordings to the producers of the eroge games. Are they voice actors, actual porn actors who star in the eroge productions or both? Do consider using different anime characters with different fictitious names or Voice of Seiko or Yusuke instead to make that more clear.
Only giving a thumbs up because of the price as it can be a nice little time kill.
Otherwise, it has a very poor translation and the dialogue is not worth reading. (Go into options and enable skip unread text). You still get the idea without reading any of it. The main character is auditioning to be a voice actress for lewd scenarios (which ends up getting used for eroge or H-anime, I guess). If you beat the score, you get the part and it shows the voice actress herself being visually depicted as more than just a voice actor of these scenes (at-least if you download the uncensor patch, not sure what happens without it). It seems that some of the scenes are just there to break the 4th wall and give you a visual while others might actually be happening. All of the visuals from these scenes are just static slide shows and not animated.
The actual gameplay is a pretty simple and typical of a tile-matching type of game. Match at-least three of the same icon and you clear them from the screen. Get a big combo and get a bigger score, and each round is timed.
Overall, pretty forgettable. Nothing really happens when you unlock the last scene and you can keep playing if you want, but why would you? The extra costumes are really expensive and don't seem to do anything other than give your 2D avatar a slightly different outfit. The game ultimately doesn't feel like much of a skill test and is just more of a grind.
Again, I still give it a thumbs up only because of the price and it can be fun for maybe a couple of hours.
One other thing, don't make the same mistake I did and assume the game auto-saves because it doesn't. I played for about 2 hours and got about half way though unlocking everything, forgot to manually save and had to start over next time I loaded up the game.
$1, still feel cheated
terrible machine translate.
If you cannot read japanese, do not buy no matter what.
After watching Coco a new Disney movie, I realize my future career is to become a Voice Acting
I do really hope this game can become a nice research material.
Ps : I don't know when and why my steam friends list became 18/370 after I bought this game
