A game where you get to be a freaky weirdo to some monsters, yet they still call you out 10/10

AS uch i love this game and how often i jsut bursted into laughter...
the fact its impossible to complete... makes me actually hate it!
within the 7 years! only 0.2% got the "100% archivment" which is kinda weird for a dating sim/party game....
please developers, remove those kinds of archivments... and try to reimplement the modding tool for the later games...
and DO NOT make it needed for archivments

Honestly, I should have listened to the comments about the game-play being repetitive. Sure I understand there will be a repetitive nature in dating games, but the game-play repeating was not enjoyable. The characters are shallow, the choices are limited, and the endings are not rewarding. The best thing about the game is the art and the worst thing is the dating mechanic, which is very unfortunate for a games advertised as a dating sim. I think this might be a game where the fandom might carry it a little, as playing the game on its own did not help me understand the good reviews. Definitely play the demo before you decide to purchase.

First game in the series and is the foundation all the rest build off. Genuinely one of the funniest VNs I have ever played and has an artstyle that continues to make it stand out compared to others.

this game is lots of fun!! my only issue with it is that to get all the achievements you have to do modding stuff (which is... sigh) and that there's no tracking for events and outcomes, but these issues are not in the later installments in the series. i highly recommend trying this out with some friends!

This is the hardest/most involved game of the series. Even though I run into the same events often, it stays entertaining. The kind of game I can just keep coming back to. I think it would be more fun to play with friends but 4 is an odd number because we all have s/os and the romance theme is pretty niche.

I gave it a good run, but it just didn't hold my attention. Everything felt tedious and the endings felt anticlimactic, whether you got your date or not, and eventually I realized I was playing for the sake of 100%ing and not from any actual enjoyment of the game. I can see the appeal for others, however, with the characters and humor, so I still recommend it if you're into visual novel-esque dating games with shorter storylines and no real depth (so like junk food for the soul).

Monster Prom is a very peculiar dating sim based in an American-style prom setting – but as monsters! In the base game there’s 6 main characters to date, and the DLC Second Term adds two new love interests into the mix!

What really attracted me to the game was its art and writing style. The art is very cartoony in the best way possible. It is very bright and in your face – exactly how it should be. The writing is oftentimes very on the nose, based on bad puns and silly references. It suits my humour perfectly. It’s also very explicit so if you aren’t a fan of that, this is not the game for you.

There’s almost an endless amount of possible events and outcomes in this game, which means you will never be bored! No matter how many times you try to woo your favourite love interest, each run you will find something new to interact with. Don’t forget you can buy items at the shop to unlock more events, outcomes, and maybe even some secret endings...

All in all this genre is not something you’ll find me playing very often, but Monster Prom made me want to engage in this expansive world of arson and despair.

8/10 - would get set on fire by Damien again.

I'm glad I gave this game some time because in all honesty, I originally did not care too much for any of the characters and didn't particularly like the lack of actual romance and overall, it was just different from what I had expected.
But now I am hooked! Not necessarily on a dating sim, but moreso on goofy characters and a grind that feels a little like snippet hunting the lore.

The game is quite literally "fuck around and find out" and all about trying different things to get to different outcomes (or depending on your stats, the same things to get to different outcomes) + being a little lucky to get to the rng-based endings.
You can skip through dialogue you've already seen quite quickly, that's a huge plus.

I think what I like most about the game is how cozy and inclusive it feels, a bit like a safe-space in a game where monsters just are the way they are.

I still wish the romance was a bit more... romantic, and the endings a bit more satisfying. Unlike in many other dating sims, you don't necessarily get locked into a character's route or establish a relationship with them, it's really all about that one date at prom. If the devs ever feel like making a follow up game where you get to experience domestic life in an established relationship with the characters, pls hmu.

The great classic Monster Prom experience. It's still a lot of fun, even with the newer games out now. If you get bored with the base game (+ DLC) you should try out the various mods available for this game. They are unhinged, stupid and a lot of fun especially with friends.

Honestly just fantastic. It's certainly not for everyone, but I'm grinding through every picture, concept, dialogue and ending and I'm far from bored! The characters all feel unique and fascinating, the interactions fun and fascinating, and the game lets you click through stuff fast enough that even if I've seen an event a dozen times before, it doesn't really impede my enjoyment. And I've barely started on the DLC yet, all of which adds so much from what I've played. Check some stuff about it out beforehand, make sure it's your type of game, but if it is? GET ITTTT

I thought this would be a funny dating sim / visual novel, and it really isn't. It's more of a board game. The game is divided into 5 "weeks" where you get 3 scenes per week. You have to improve 6 stats (creativity, fun, boldness, charm, intelligence, and money) through brief interactions and buying items. At the end of the 6 weeks, you get to ask your love interest out.

The only problem is.. there really isn't an incentive to talk to your love interest. It's much more beneficial to grind stats (especially money so you can buy items) than try to interact with them during the lunch period. This makes the game extremely repetitive and boring. I returned it because I kept failing to get a date, and the game doesn't explain why.

There is clearly a lot of passion put into the game, but with no tutorial, no explanations for endings, and just generally being a very grind-ey game, I didn't have any fun. The writing is funny and the art is great, but that's about it. Didn't have the usual depth or story of a visual novel (there really ISN'T a story). The endings you grinded for are just 2 sentences.

I haven't tried the newer games, so hopefully they're better. If you want to play the series, skip this one.

Fun quirky game with what seems to be lots of replay. Completely surprised by the unfiltered comedy and i'm all for it.

I picked it up after discovering Jesse Cox had involvement.

very fun, so cute, adorable "high school" creatures to date raging in age for 19 to 4000+ great with friend or alone, i loved all the art you get with different ending, i love the personalty of both the player characters and date-able characters. some how i manged to grind the dating sim to get as many endings as possible, so worth it, will do again

Overall, high recommends. Fun as fuck game where you can pretend to know how to flirt. There's a character for anyone to enjoy (and background npc's you can date too!)

There is not much that I can say about this game that has not already been said. It's wonderful. its funny, the characters are all unique and lovable. The art in the game is magnificent, it has a cute and lovable style. I could talk about how wonderful this game and series is for hours, and believe me I have. my friends are more than likely sick and tired of me talking about it all the time.

monster prom, probably the only game you will ever play that will let you commence a blood ritual with a used tampon. have fun! get game!

A fun game to play with friends! Would definitely recommend!

This game reminds me very much of a boardgame, a lot of it comes down to stats and when you are multiple people playing it makes it a lot more difficult to get the ending you want.

The game is very much text based and a lot of the humor is in the writing, so do beware of that if that´s not your type of game! The game can also get kind of raunchy at times, so a heads up for that as well.

If you enjoy this game, I would definitely check out the DLC "Second Term". It adds a lot more to the game, and makes the whole thing feel more complete.

Really fun to play w friends. Playing it alone was still good but wow was this better when I was on a discord call and watching two people fight to win Vera's affection only to both fail at it.

I honestly don't know how I have 12 hours in this game. The premise is interesting and the characters are fun, but the memorising stat options for events gameplay is tedious and the ending always feels like an anticlimax whether or not you successfully woo your chosen romance option, since either simply results in a few lines of text. From what I understand, they may have fixed some of these problems in the later games, so maybe try those first if you do want to give this a go? Also, I don't really get a lot of the humour myself -- I don't know if that's because I'm asexual or just not terminally online enough, but your mileage may vary.

Extremely unintuitive dialogue options, but the writing is funny enough that it doesn't really matter.

Bit sad, that I misunderstood a piece of the guide. But now I am happy cause, because I understand the game.

But it's a really good game. Let my mistake be a guide. Enjoy the game if you decided to purchase it.

Such a fun game! You have to balance your stats, make choices in side quests, and buy powerups to earn a prom win, making it a lot harder than other dating games. The art is fantastic! The dialogue is so funny! The developers clearly have no end to their creativity and put a lot of heart into this game :))

Honestly one of my favorite games to play with a group of friends. We each pick a character and voice act their lines. Tons of fun! Highly recommend for a casual game night!

BEST FOR HAVING FUN WITH FRIENDS

This game is huge! After my first playthrough with my friends I can say that this was fun. There was four of us and only half got a partner for prom night. Who failed miserably got it brutally rubbed in their face. Battling for the same chick was very funny and stressful at the same time. 10/10 would recommend.

Very fun and silly, great for playing with friends! I love all the character designs and the random events and secret endings. Highly recommend for anyone who's down for monster kissing and interpersonal drama <3

The game is good, that's all there is to it. I actually bought this game because I had a crashout in Ship of Fools and bought something impulsively and this was the best impulsive purchase I've ever made. The art is amazing, the voice acting is amazinger, and the writing is the amazingest. I never really found visual novels fun unless it was like DDLC or something but this one is a total game changer, playing it solo or with my friends is extremely fun because I'm simple minded. The game is a comedy most of the time and yet the characters are seriously compelling and feel like they have legitimate depth. I could not recommend this enough.

I love this franchise, the characters are so fun and the whole idea is wonderful. I love that the monsters are still very lovable while still not shying away from the fact that they are in fact monsters. Play it you won't regret it.

There is no other Videogame series i support and love as much as the Monster Prom series.

I would Highly recommend this game to anyone who likes monsters and relationships; it's very fun and can be played over and over, it is especially fun to play with friends (If they're chill with profanity and stuff that's NSFW). It is definitely the most unique dating simulator I've ever seen!

This game is absolutely fantastic. So many incredible characters, hilarious dialogue, not to mention the incredible sequels it spawned. Looking back, this is probably my least favorite of the Monster Prom games, but that does not mean it isn't amazing. That is merely a testament to the quality of the sequels.

Really funny and unique, definitely play this game with a group of close friends. The jokes are witty and weird and the game is nonsensical, but that's what makes it fun and stand out. Damien is superior btw

It's my comfort game <3 I love the characters, the humor, the language an the graphics, and every time I feel like I need a hug, I play Monster Prom and it always makes me feel better :)

I love this game, perchance too much

I've played the game before on a different profile and it's been a couple of years since I last played it (back in 2021, I think?), and coming back to it now, it's still just as fun for me! It's very unserious and is sort of a "Dead Dove: Do Not Eat" game in the sense that there are things like gun violence in-game that are part of the comedy. However, the game is very much a comedy so you're not meant to take those bits as a serious take on those issues. The Monster Prom franchise in general is campy and silly, so it's a lot of fun if you enjoy games that don't take themselves too seriously.

For a simple game, this is really fun and I like finding out how to accomplish the different endings. Though I did find it a bit difficult since many of them are more chance based than plot based.

10/10 game. I love all the characters and their stories. Eveyone should play this game with a friend. or alone!! It's a fun game!!

Goes hard. Lots of replayability as well. I really like playing with my friends, and we all voice the characters without the voice acting on.
