AWSOME GAME
So now this crap has got no interaction with shitty interface.
Shouldn't have even made this.
And a solar system with no system view? WOW.
expected more to see .. :(
This game is bare boned. All you get are the planets and a few moons as well as information on the planets and moons. The rest of the Solar System is missing. No asteroid belts, no comets, etc.. And not all the moons for the planets are in this game. I'm giving it a thumbs up cause of the beauty of it all.
I do not recommend this game, do not buy it. it's basically showing you all of the main planets in our solar system, yeah thats fine and dandy, BUT the quality is horrible. and its not fun or entertaining. so don't get it.
this is a kind of short wiki with a 3D image instead of a 2D one. there's no global map. refund here
This is more of a learning tool about the Solar System. This is not a game. Looks cool and good for youngsters who wants to learn about our amazing Solar System. 8/10
Bought this as a teaching aide. It kinda sucks. it has nice computer animation of the 9 planets as well as like 5 moons total. SO it was a bit of a let down not having all our moons in the solar system as well as no asteroid belt. and all the info is written on the side and isnt kid friendly at all. Sadly this game is INCOMPLETE as it is. Its not user friendly and will hold the classes attention for 15 minutes tops.
If i had to do over again i would have saved 50 cents. not worth. So incomplete and and minimal content that would actually be useful to a student. MEH

Solar System is an embarrassing quick-reference work about the star and the planets of our solar system. The app doesn't deliver what it promises and -even worse- what it does deliver is incorrect and incomplete. The information is way too concise and is blatantly copypasted from Wikipedia, there are some painfully stupid mistakes in the arrangement of the information, quite a few essential celestial bodies are omitted, and there are some more problems.
Clearly, Solar System is nothing but a shameless, lazy cash-grab and I can only advise you to stay away. Although I paid a mere 49 cents for Solar System, I'll be getting a refund out of principle to not support shovelware like this.
Gameplay
There is no gameplay. At all. This isn't necessarily a bad thing per se, and if you read the short introduction to this review you probably don't expect much gameplay anyway, but I need to make this clear because the developer/publisher describes his app on the Steam Store page as follows:

Using the word 'game' implies there's gameplay but there is none at all.
So what is the nature of the 'interactivity' mentioned in the second part of the description? Well, you see a number of buttons on the left-hand side of the screen. They're labeled with the names of celestial bodies: the sun, the planets and a couple of moons. When you click a button, an animated image of the selected celestial body appears. You can use the scroll wheel to zoom in or out a bit, and you can drag the mouse to change the viewing angle. Lastly, there's a slider to increase the rotation speed of the celestial body. That's all.
On the right-hand side of your screen is a text window containing some data and basic information about the celestial body you selected. The information is very concise – way too basic to charge money for, especially since the app's description promises you'll be able to "deepen your knowledge of the Solar System". This implies the app contains more than the most basic facts, which it doesn't, so again I find the description misleading.
Besides, the texts are blatantly copypasted from Wikipedia without altering even one single character. One example as proof but you'll find all of the source material if you enter a few sentences from one of the app's texts in a search engine: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Portal:Space/Selected_article/26
Errors and omissions
As you can see in the screenshots, the planets are in the wrong order. And it's not like they're in any other order that makes sense e.g. alphabetically. This makes the whole app look like the work of someone who's either stupid or lazy beyond compare. And this person wants you to pay him to be allowed to learn from his vast knowledge of our solar system!
Another thing you can see in the screenshots is that there's no button for the Moon next to Earth's but there is a button labeled 'Moon' next to Venus'. Indeed, the Moon is placed next to the wrong planet. Again: either extreme stupidity or -more likely- extreme laziness.
Both Mars' moons and two of Jupiter's main moons (Io and Europa) are portrayed, but no other satellites at all. It's very understandable that the app doesn't show or even mention all of the named satellites (Jupiter and Saturn each have over 60!) but it mentions that Jupiter's largest moon is Ganymede and then this moon isn't even portrayed. Completely unforgivable is that prominent moons like Saturn's Titan or Pluto's Charon aren't portrayed and aren't even mentioned in the text.
Speaking of Pluto, the app mentions that Pluto is actually not a planet but a dwarf planet among many similar objects, but still Pluto is the only distant object that's portrayed, so neither Eris nor the Kuiper Belt is portrayed.
The asteroid belt between Mars and Jupiter is neither portrayed nor mentioned.
Graphics and sound
The graphics are standard Unity quality. Not bad, not great. I didn't really notice a difference between the worst or the best graphics quality available. When I selected the best graphics quality, the image of Earth did sometimes bug out and started twitching.
When you select the Moon its shape looks normal but when you select Earth, the Moon is potato-shaped. It looks ridiculously off.
The text in the text window isn't dynamically outlined, meaning line breaks vary with the resolution you run the app in. I'm not sure which is the ideal resolution for this app but I ran it in 1920 x 1080, which is a pretty common native resolution for monitors these days I think, and the illogically placed line breaks made the text look unappealing and somewhat hard to read.
The music is a relaxing zen-like tune. It sounds ok but it's also very repetitive. The actual tune is only about two seconds long, set to loop perpetually.
On Steam's extra features
Although the product page claims otherwise, Solar System has no Steam Trading Cards. Maybe that's because of Valve's new rules regarding the trading cards and the cards may become available at a later date, but then the app shouldn't be advertised on Steam as having cards right now.
Well... I'm not sure if I should be disappointed or not about this. First, while the information presented in the "game" is decent enough, it is lacking several important things, namely most of Jupiter's moons, as well as all of Saturn's, Uranus's, and Neptunes. The Asteroid Belt is also not mentioned, and some of the graphics are jarring.
Being rather cheap, one would not expect much, I guess. As for the Trading Cards, they have yet to be implimented. Which is also a bit disappointing, since one would expect eight to eleven at least (each of the planets, the Sun, the Moon, and maybe Europa or other Satellites of Jupiter).
Seriously? Not much to learn.

- only 5 moons listed (I'm sure there are dozens)
- asteroid belt has disappeared.
- apparently The Sun is quite hot
