One of the best VN games ever, part 2.
I played the original game before I played Kyoto Winds and Edo Blossoms. And I also watched the anime before playing these two.
Hakuoki has been my favourite otome/shoujo/josei for the longest time, and I'm just really happy to always have more of it!
Ryouma is the best hakuouki boy 🥰 wish it would be more content
While playing Kyoto Winds I fell in love with Hakuoki (and Hijikata, all characters are great but he's the best!) and Edo Blossoms made my love even stronger and bigger. The best otome!
I love this game and the game before it. It has a phenomenal story, gets you all in the feels for every route. My favorite route so far has been, hands down, Okita. Hijikata is second, then the others. I've only done 4 routes so far so that may change lol
One thing I disliked about the story is the heroine, or us, I mean, we find out that we are a demon, but then don't do anything with it. Missed opportunity. I was hoping to save at least one of the guys with my demon powers or something but...nothing. That was kind of unfortunate, and I hope there are games in the future that can play off that and flesh it out a bit more. Also, one thing I think the game is missing is a biography page, like a page that gives you a breakdown of each character, their history, rank, and so forth. That would be awesome. That way I can go to the bio page and see who is captain of what division, how they came to be with the Shingensumi, and a little about them...you can get a bit of it thru gameplay but to have a dedicated page for it would be great
Overall, incredible game, story, VA, visuals...one of my favorite games. I have never cried so much as I have with this game. Great great job

Ohhh booyyo..
So first off, this game is a continuation off of Hakuoki: Kyoto Winds, meant to tie up the entire storyline and give you the happy-ever-after ending with the chosen romantic interest. Without playing Kyoto Winds first you will feel lost as to whom these characters are, who the main character is and what has and is transpiring in the back of all of this..
Again, the art style is fantastic, the soundtrack is great and the overarching story is this game series' main selling point.
The person to person romance routes are meh to okay depending on who you pursue.
Some characters are abusive towards the main character, and while all of the characters carry some kind of trauma with them to make their behaviours psychologically make more sense, still not okay. Gives them all a good sense of depth though, which is appreciated.
The main character remains the weakest, most shallow and least capable character in the entire game. She's truly annoying and forgettable.
This games overarching storyline is captivating and heart-wrenching. The setting of the game is a historically grim era full of war and conflict, so naturally the story is not all sunshine and roses. It certainly hit me in the feels and I found myself getting emotional over the many twists and turns in the game. And while this game does give you the tie-it-all-up endings needed, I found myself wanting more story before the end. Sadly it has to end at some point.
At the current pricing (8,19 as of writing this) I can highly recommend it if you have played the first game so you don't lose out on the main story as it is absolutely fantastic and worst way more than just the individual routes. The soundtrack is great too!
