Want some local multiplayer mayhem where you bomb friends? Then check out this Cheapness affordable gaming review of BOMBFEST and Nova Nukers [Episode 83]
https://youtu.be/xhHvv38ZzV0
Quick text review of BOMBFEST only:
-Samescreen multiplayer is really the point of the game (No campaign, you can play against bots, there is no online multiplayer or story)
-The only distractions are the unlocks but pleasantly you get something after every match until the well is dry (Exciting but the most exciting unlock, new arenas, are the least prevalent)
-Maybe the game could have done with arenas (Maybe derived from the rooms wherein the arenas are placed - you play as blocky dolls who throw bombs so there's a kind of army men battlefield going on with wood blocks and kitchen sinks)
-Thus, the arenas are compact, and this leads to some fun, fast paced, physics-based combat where you fling each other until ring out (Pleasantly the blocks scatter too and can even bury you)
-Has cute, kind of polygonal visuals displaying the toyroom and household places but some of the colour combos can be mildly grating and some of the arenas are less exciting than the rest of the room you find yourself in
-Good playful music that belongs in the toyroom yet is triumphant and competitive in its sound (For instance horns with triangle chime accents)
-Good sound design too (Booms and clicking wood)
-Maybe could have done with more arenas or something (Only takes 2 hours to unlock everything)
Practical concerns:
-Bad value for money (R7.90 / $1.00 / £0.72 per hour for me)
-Small download size as it takes up 329.12 Mb on the hard drive
-4p Local versus multiplayer
Me and you, and you and me
No matter how they toss the dice, it had to be
The only one for me is you, and you for me
So happy togetherrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
I wouldn't say its worth 10 dollars but its fun with all kinds of people even with just yourself. There are MANY things you can unlock as in a bunch of bombs and a LOT of characters and head pieces, and this is a fun party game. There are 34 achievements that are hard to unlock, I haven't gotten any! Playing on the key board is hard and playing with the mouse is annoying to other players because there is a big white thing on the game screen but, controllers work really well. (I got this game for $2 during a sale)
Bombfest: the game whose awfully generic title I couldn't remember anymore the second I put down the controller. Anyway, I got a Steam copy to review and recommend it: I played this a lot with friends & family, this is really good. Very polished, neat gameplay, easy to pick up, not really any winning strategy, just foolish frenzy. The perfect warmup for Gang Beasts!
Fun game where you can spend a few minutes on once in a while. The goal is to blast your opponents out of the playfield with bombs you can throw.
A good amount of creativity, great graphics and simple controls makes a fun time for anyone. I did not try local multiplayer yet but I can imagine all the fun to be had.
Super neat, super fresh, super cute, and super fun to play in bursts with friends. Definitely a fun time!
200 character summary
Bombfest is an amazing little brawler where you have to throw bombs at your friends in order to knock them off the level. It is local only but a whole lot of fun You can even customize your character.
Gamemodes 7/10
You can only play the game locally with up to 4 players, There is no online, You can add bots, but the real fun is in playing ths game with your friends, It has very simple controls it is just dive/roll and pickup/throw so even non gamers can easily jump in without getting too confused. It only has 1 gamemode but it is fun for the whole family.
Gameplay 9/10
The gameplay is very chaotic, Throwing bombs, diving away from the danger, Props that fly everywhere due to the explosions, Near misses, Insane explosions that blow you out of the map, or just amazing trickshots that you somehow survive. It really creates a lot of "wow did you see that?!?" moments. It is also very well suited for kids.
You will unlock new things after every game, Things like New levels, Outfits, Accessories, New Bombs, But also game modifiers which can drastically change the game, Like higher jumps, force rolling, big head mode, and a few more to spice things up, I personally prefer the stock game without the timer, But it is nice to be able to change the rules, You can even make it rain nukes right from the start. You can set the number of rounds, Set which bombs fall into the arena and how often, You can adjust the timer, bots, which levels are added to the pool, Almost everything can be adjusted.
There are dozens of outfits and accesories you can mix and match to create your own unique character, There are also a whopping 14 different bombs, Some are sticky, Bouncy, Slidy, Some go up in the air or implode instead of explode. Some explode directly, there are mines and many many more, It is a blast to play this game, It creates some very tense and funny moments. The game can get a little stale after an hour or so. But it is just as fun next time you play it.
Aesthetics 9/10
You play as little wooden dolls and the arenas are all set in and around the house, On a table, on a carpet, in the sink or on a playmat. It looks very playful inviting, is easy to play and encourages rivalries.
Performance 8/10
The performance is great, It is locked to your framerate but tt runs at a stable 120fps all the time. I had absolutely no issues, crashes or any other bad behavior.
Replayability 9/10
It is just so much fun if you have multiple controllers, You will unlock everything pretty early on, and there is not much more to do than throwing bombs at eachother, but it surely is a lot of fun.
Improvements
I would love to see more gamemodes, games with a prop that must be forced out of the arena, Maybe protect your own and destroy enemy castles or something like that. Maybe even team modes. I would also love to see more different arenas, I think there is a good mix, but more levels would be very cool.
Conclusion 9/10
Overall Bombfest is an amazing little brawler It is perfect fun for short bursts of gameplay, I really enjoy it and I believe it is among the best local brawlers on Steam. If you have multiple controllers, Not having Bombfest is just a waste, If you like local brawlers you should definitely own this game.

Awesome old school couch coop game to play with friends and fam quick fun party game
It's a local multiplayer game where you get to chuck bombs at your friends and family. I mean honestly, who isn't up for bombing some friendships? Metaphorically, probably. Unless you end up winning most of the rounds and annoying them. Maybe let your friends win a few matches, eh?
Seriously though BOMBFEST is a blast. Lots of them, actually. I mean it is a game about bombs so yeah. Have a blast while you blast people.
