bugged, boring, unbalanced
A poor addition to an outdated game.

This poorly written slop is so short it should be part of the base game and not a stand alone title. Just a cash grab.

-Play this first before Demons of the past for the story to make sense
-Bonus points to the scenarios for effectively going to war to win a glorified Exodia tile and for experienceing the sheer awesome and lovable scum that is Flink McWinter and his semi self-awareness of player choices
-Minus points for the last scenario. Have to stay there for three hours before the scenario ends. Though to be fair the constant attacks and Tremors does help it go faster
i liked the older version better but the new ones are good too.
I'd declare... Average good. This is an RTS with RPG elements. The graphics are still decent. The music is OK. The story is generic fantasy stuff but not the bad kind.
No bugs, but some crashes.
Overall, an entertaining franchise. The mix of RTS with elements of RPG was a winning combination back in the day and still is. This DLC, the first for Spellforce 2, is kinda of a bridge story-wise and it's not such a brilliant tale, just adequate to keep your interest going. The game is long enough and you can add several more hours playing the scenarios (sold separately). I think this is rated low with the nostalgic and purist' feedback weighing a bit too much, so here's a blue recommendation if I may.
finished both campaign and scenario without bug. i can use the highest graphic setting ingame.
SpellForce 2: Faith in Destiny Review
Review is after completing the main quest, about 50% of side quests and forging about 75% of unique items. Tried and gave up on the DLC campaigns.
Pros:
- I must have FAITH!
- In my DESTINY! X 12 times
- Familiar SpellForce 2 combat and skill tree and mechanics.
- New enemy faction.
- Familiar Shaikan skill tree.
- Familiar gameplay mechanics, loot and gear systems.
- Familiar camera controls and map navigation.
- Familiar companions from SpellForce 2.
- Weapon crafting system created some powerful items.
Cons:
- Short campaign, the story ends in a cliffhanger.
- Uninteresting DLC mini-campaigns. I tried playing the DLC mini-stories but they started off very boring.
- It's been a while since SpellForce 2 and Dragon Storm. So I had to read wikis to remember certain character names mentioned in dialogues.
- New enemy faction is pure horde mode. Build, rush, build, rush.
- Enemy bases are jam packed with incredibly strong defense towers. They were so tedious to deal with in every single map.
- No customization options for the Shaikan.
- On larger maps I was forced to clear out all the roaming wildlife so that later I could peacefully mine resources during the army battle sections.
- Story ends in a cliffhanger setting up the next game. It's obvious that the devs padded out this game to its maximum length.
- Weapon crafting system required travelling all the way to one specific map and was dependent on if you explored maps enough to find the unique crafting materials.
- Riding dragons did not feel impactful, in fact they were just another unit to use in battle.
Advice:
- Always buy this on sale and only if you are an ardent SpellForce fan.
[*]The story is a bridge to Demons of the Past, therefore just rush through the main story on an easier difficulty.
I must have FAITH in my DESTINY!!!
Overall Score: 5/10
