The keyboard controls are awful and you can't adjust them.
casual rpg no grinding needed
Finally!!!
It has been a while since I played an Idea Factory / Compile Heart game that I could actually recommend. They got really, really, REALLY grindy there for a while and there were fewer and fewer positive aspects of the game.
Granted, this game isn’t perfect. There are a couple of technical issues, like the audio cracking. It takes a long time to load and sometimes the game gets stuck in the loading screen. Once I had to reboot my computer to fix the issue. Adding the long load times to the unskippable logos, it takes a full minute to start the game. Secondly, the AIs had issues. They would sometimes get stuck on ledges or doorways and they would never avoid massive attacks. This was a particular issue with the final Cheetah fight. There are some fights that you can’t deal damage until you break the enemy’s armour; however, the AIs would never concentrate on doing that, so it was up to you. They would sometimes use skills that dropped the boss’s armour by nearly half in one shot, but that would happen very rarely. It’s frustrating, not challenging.
Speaking of frustrating, the bosses had way too much hit points and armour. This didn’t make the fights challenging, it just made them boring, especially since the AIs would almost never help breaking the armour. Another issue is the equipment upgrade system. Fully upgraded equipment will actually be stronger than the new equipment’s starting level. However, you will get new equipment a few levels before you can upgrade it, so it is initially weaker. There’s only 13 levels in the entire game, so you won’t even upgrade your final equipment until after you’ve beaten the main story. And even if you go after all of the post-game content, you will still not get the material you need for the best gear until after you get 100% of the achievements. Very strange.
That said, it was still a very fun game with the usual Neptunia humour and fun gameplay without the major glaring issues. No frustrating crafting issue, now multi-day grind for a single achievement, no impenetrable mechanics that require guides to deal with, etc.
This game is a wild ride, like if Sword Art Online got hit with a skibidi, then rizzed up some anime girls and tossed in a bunch of gyatt-level nonsense. You’re gonna laugh your ass off at how much they make fun of themselves, and half the time you’ll wonder if anyone at the studio was even sober when they wrote this shit.
An interesting but somewhat short JRPG where characters entered into a gaming world. The world is actually rendered really well, and the character models are beautifully done. The story does not overstay its welcome, though it will be confusing to those that have never played a Neptunia game before.
Game balance is a little bit out of whack. Range characters clearly makes the game a lot easier. But there is a lot of character variety, every character plays uniquely from one another and are viable in their own way. A nice addition for existing fans. Though as a standalone game, you might want to start somewhere else.
a little buggy, but is cute, simple, and fun overall.
slightly reminds me of phantasy star online for sega dreamcast <3
[Cons]
- Buggy AIs: that means your teammates are bashing into walls and bosses are just standing still
- Also, it means your healer might be bugged as well, so make sure you buy potions
- Main story ends at around Guild Rank 6, but you still have Rank 7 & 8 to get 100% achievement, and you're expected to grind the same levels over and over again
[Pros]
- Story is ok
- It's better than most spin-offs if not all of them
- There's still grinding, but it doesn't feel as tedious as other games in the franchise
- If you buy this game during sale, I think it's a good bang for your buck, coz you probably need 50+ hours to 100% this, if not longer
- Taking a step back, exploiting dumb AI could be a fun thing? :/
Lack of characters is part of what killed this game to me, there are "12" characters however it's the 4 main CPUs, their sisters, then the HDD form of the main CPUs as different characters, somehow has less characters than U Action which at least have Dengekiko and Famitsu (despite not even liking them) and the sisters have HDD forms. We didn't even get more characters as at least DLC, do you wanna play as any of the makers? or even at least Plutia, Peashy or Uzume? though luck.
Of these action spinoffs I still think U Action is the best one, albeit being repetitive is the one that feels the fastest and more rewarding as it's actually a musou game so you'll be beating literal thousands of enemies for some objectives.
Story is meh, better than MegaTagdimension but nothing to write home about, localization is hit or miss. It is accurate to what they are saying but sometimes the text box will have another whole sentence the character didn't say and that changes completely the demeanor of the character, this seems to be a recurrent problem with the franchise and its mostly present with Neptune, making her sound far more asshole than the original audio. But at least it's not as bad as the first 2 mainline games which outright require a fan translation patch to be enjoyable.
There is an option for english dub but in my opinion there shouldn't and that's how far I'll acknowledge its existence.
Fan service is tame, anyone complaining about it in this title is a tourist puritan trying to gaslight you, the series was far more spicier in the past titles and it should return to that standard, again U Action is far superior with its costume break mechanic.
I don't think I'll bother finishing it specially because it takes a WHILE to boot, and I'm not wasting SSD space with this.
Got all achievements, grindy but more of a chill grind. Some parts are very repetitive, but again it’s more of a chill grind. Not a long at all game either so I’d definitely recommend it if you’re a fan of the series. Surprisingly I didn’t experience any glitches or bugs that most people talk about. Overall, this spinoff is definitely one of the better ones.
GOOD GAME but it's still kinda have lot of bugs
If sisters vs sisters would be played like this one it would be a decent game at least.
