Man Eater is a great game don't get me wrong but i cant play it anymore because it keeps crashing. Idk if its just my PC but pls someone help ;-;
This game is a fun one.. if you like games like banjo-kazooi then this is the game for you. just heads up near the end game... the game does periodically crash...
Amazing game, i loved doing every little achivement or side objective. The easter eggs were cool and narrator had a nice voice. DLC was def worth it and was tons of fun to blast lasers around.
A mindlessly fun game that's a good way to de-stress, 7.5/10
The story isn't worth mentioning since it's simply a vehicle for the fun of being a murderous shark that devours everything in its way. The build up from small pup to massive megaladon is satisfying and not too slow. The side quests are easy enough to enjoy though not so much that it feels boring. The collectables are easy to attain, with the interesting site locations being a little funny thanks to the narration of Chris Parnell. The boss battles are okay, ranging between too easy or slugishly "difficult" depending on your level/build at the time, with the final boss battle being a satisfying fight.
The upgrade system is fun though some abilities aren't as great as others and you may end up going with the same rock-scale build towards the end as I did. The open world is nicely done, not too big, though the areas towards the ocean are so big and spread out that it feels less interesting by comparison to the others.
The DLC is fun but feels a tad too long. The soldiers/sailors are more difficult but more annoying to deal with, and the various irradiated boss variations quickly become too easy once you level up the new build type enough. The new customizations are okay, and the time missions aren't at all interesting. More Maneater is nice, but I think the DLC needed more to really justify it - still, not bad, and if you already enjoy Maneater and haven't gotten the DLC, it might be fun to get as well.
big shark attack humans and local wildlife all the while cleaning the ocean floor. peak game.
Great game! Easy to understand. very straight forward!
Its pretty fun. Can get repeteive but i had a lot fun with this game. Also if you want to try achievement hunting this is a good game to start with cause the achievements in this game are easy. But too easy if you get what i mean.
Decent little game. Took 10 hours to complete main game and dlc and 100%. Wouldn't recommend buying at full price at all. I bought on sale for around $12 for apex edition which includes dlc. Very simple game. Very repetitive. After you finish first area you've basically played the whole game but it's rinse and repeat from there. Eat 10 of these, eat 10 of those, etc.
Only worth on sale!
the game is good, the graphics are beautiful but the story is too short. overall it's good especially if you like sharks
The game is aweasome you can have a vilian arc to revenge you mother that was brutally killed bcs she was a shark thats racist
I got this game with the DLC when it was on sale.
If you like to play as a man eating shark or basically a large shark that will eat everything and everyone, mutant to gain more power, chase prey onto land, and more, then you should play this game.
I really enjoyed playing this game.
I 100% this game and the DLC.
Brilliant game reminds me of the old jaws games great graphics fun gameplay would recomend to anyone
Its a good game only when it chooses to run properly.
It seems for me to crash hard when trying to load the game after the initial boot from the developers logos in start up. unable to initially play the game when purchased on sale due to the hard crashes.
Only managed to play roughly 3 hours before the controller support failed and mixed the keyboard and controller together when trying to use any button and of course crashed.
Not much online help for any of the U4 engine error logs or weird crash logs.
tldr: genuinely probably best kept as: Maybe it'll run, maybe it wont port. a game better bought on sale price.
The game is amazing its a open world of you being a shark and you can do wht ever you want its amazingggg
This game is so fun and you get really immersed into being the most dangerous thing in the sea. W game for people who love intense action filled games.
Fun game, quite repetitive so if you want a variety of objectives, you might get bored. It's a good past time and took me abount 17 hrs to finish the game with the DLC and 100% of achievements. The narration is quite amusing too while you consume every living being in your path.
A short, fun game. Collecting everything and completing the story took me around 10 hours, so this isn't a particularly long game. There's some neat scenery and a simple story of the comedic variety, but nothing is particularly HQ if you're looking for that kind of thing.
The DLC is an extra 4 hours of content with a new map (of a smaller size compared to base game) and various changes to scenery. It adds a bit of extra story, some very repetitive missions, and a few new unlocks.
Its a great game minus the fact it crashes none stop, but when you can play it, its great.
Okay, to be completely honest, I bought this game thinking it was gonna be ass
but hey its on sale might as well, right? Maybe I'll have stupid fun.
This game is now one of my top favorite games ever.
It's not perfect. It can get really repetitive and grindy, so I'd only recommend this game if you don't mind that
But for what it's worth, it is a really damn fun time. Might buy the DLC too!
also jaws unleashed enjoyers are winning with this game
Shark Power Fantasy
Feels very much like prototype but you're a shark... The game controls just as badly as Alex Mercer does too. Very imprecise movements. Avoid if you need a hyper-responsive game.
Good
Being a shark. Eat fish. Eat human. Get points. Feel good.
Visual upgrades on the shark.
Combat is satisfying. Whip shotting, jumping out of the water.
Decent loadout builder (what would go best with the current mission).
Jerry from Rick and Morty/Cyril Figgis from Archer is the narrator.
Humor is really good, the bounty hunter screens are funny as hell, same with narrator.
There is a lot of world building if you look for it.
Really bad for certain folk.
RSI the game. Constant clicking/wiggling mouse around.
Controls can be extremely annoying. I got used to it but some might not.
Story is just a revenge fantasy. I enjoy that though.
OST is extremely Meh.
I haven't finished the game, but I can already tell I'll enjoy the rest of my time playing it. Its just a power fantasy, and I am so excited to see just how large and powerful my shark will become.
This game does one thing and it does it extremely well, your a shark and you feel like a beast. There's some fun combos and game mechanics that the devs absolutely could have not added.
Ps : Pc port is actual dogshit, you'll get fps drops in specific areas & crashes. You can prob fix it tho.
Did all the achievements, first time in forever. In under 20 hours. Great game, especially if you catch it on sale. Crashes here and there, outside of that, no complaints at all.
Shit game and wont run properly, lost hours of progress cuz they kept respawning because i crash to much, played it on the lowest graphics and it still crashed so fucking much. terrible, not recommended
good game very graphic intensive kills my pc but worth the 40 dollar price lags and crashes occasionally but other than that great game
Literally loved this game when i played it. Its enviroment is top notch, the controls feel amazing. And overall is just a amazing game. Got it on discount tho.
Looks and plays good for its age and is a good game all around in my opinion. The tongue in cheek comedy of the narrator as you play and especially in the dlc is funny and the different mutations allow for different playstyles though i do wish there were more. I hope Tripwire will consider making more games like this where you play as a different creature which would be interesting.
Plays great on steam deck. A fun and action packed game that doesn't take itself too seriously without sacrificing on solid gameplay.
Taking inspiration from older games like "fish" or "feeding frezy" but with its own unique spin and in 3d, the goal here is to grow your shark by eating smaller fish only this time there's an emphasis on combat which makes for a much more exciting gameplay style than it's spiritual predecessors.
Not quite a silly as Goat Simulator and definitely not as low effort, the game keeps progression interesting with a colourful narator and a unique framing device as well as diverse and interesting level choices with unique landmarks scattered about to help the player navigate as well as provide some insight into the surface world and its inhabitants who you'll otherwise mostly see when they're riding in boats or are foolish enough to venture near the water's edge close enough for the shark to jump out and drag them into the water.
In case you missed it in tbe trailers, yes you can eat them too but causing too much havock to the humans will cause them to send out teams to hunt down the shark and put and end to your mayhem.
Combat is fairly simple but not too easy since you're having to move in all 3d directions and stay moving if you want to avoid taking damage from enemies who can deal a lot of damage like alligators.
Overall I was surprised by the high level of polish and how a few fairly simple mechanics come together to make a very unique game that's easy for anyone to pick up and play. This game has loads of character and the voice over performance is a lot of fun.
Not quite a AAA title that will entertain you all year long but a great addition to any collection and well worth a look if you want to try something new!
I love how this game is set up. I don't like documentaries but hearing sea animal facts while eating humans is funny
A campy action story that didn't skimp on gore.
The controls take a little practice but feel smooth and intuitive from the start.
Better under-water scenery than most games involving water.
Can feel a little grindy at times but overall Satisfying.
Can be fun.
Sometimes, for several short sessions. It gets pretty repetetive pretty quick since everything you do is "Hunt 10 Fishies X", "Collect some collectibles", "Hunt 10 Fishies Y", "Make some stunts above water","Hunt 10 humans", "Hunt the other shark" and after some of these quests you "Look for your rival", where you can sneek a peek into the life of the biggest shark hunter of the region.
This is the story, although I have to say, that I quite like the idea of that. The story is like a documentary film, where you see some interviews with the regional shark hunter which tells about his personal life and goals. After that you switch back to yourself (the shark, obviously) and proceed to kill stuff.
Seriously, I like that. Buuuut, yeah. Everytime after half an hour I just wanna end the session and play other games.
i saw this game on the game pass that xbox had to put on there pc's i didnt mind that it was free i down loaded it and was like idc if this isnt free on steam it will look 1000000 timwa better from there so i bought it havent looked back
The game runs like absolute garbage on PC, constant frame rate drops and non-stop crashes. Do not give them your money.
This is basically just a way more fun and entertaining Jaws Unleashed type of game, a completely absurd and cracked shark sim. There is a very nice sense of progression that is the main thing that keeps you playing. You eat fucking everything and grow from a freshly born shark all the way to an apex abomination throughout your play through. It's objectively a fun time.
Can't really say anything bad about it as it does what it wants to do well. A more in-depth version of literally everything in the game for a sequel would put this genre over big time.
Bottom line is that this game overall is just dumb chaotic fun.
A few positives
- Presentation is great. The swapping back and forth between a nature documentary (for most of the game) and a reality TV show (when doing the human-centric cutscenes) is fun.
- There are a LOT of references and fun bits of humor thrown in. The commentator's voice lines are spaced out and never reaches that overexposed point.
- Game is very generous with early game upgrades that do help expedite eventual grind (Tiger Shark Body and Sonar do help, especially early).
Negatives
- Trying to control your shark near surfaces are finnicky. You constantly breach when you don't want to and you are sitting duck for things below you.
- Lock-on feature/ targeting is..... not good. The camera does not like to stay locked on threats and you will go off against random non-threats.
- Possible performance issues? Game has freezing issues for me and a few crashes. Not sure if this is the game or computer.
Other things:
- Difficulty is not there for the most part. There is a major hump that you will need to get over, so a lot of the hardness of the game is front-weighted. Once you figure out the game and start buffing your shark, you can truck over most things.
- For you completionists out there, be forewarned that you can not 100% the game in its base form. There is an extra paid DLC (Truth Quest) that you need in order to get all achievements. As for base game achievments: they're not bad. Most of these are going to be story-related and the rest are going to be natural 100% stuff (nothing skippable).
But yeah: just a fun game that you can just turn off brain for a while.
It does get a little repetitive, but the game is short not to long. Easy 100% completion. Would recommend it on sale.
Pros:
Had an incredible time with this game. I was not so much into the whole revenge story, however, it was a great edition to have within the quests and battles. The game ran smoothly, and only took me 22 hours to 100% complete it with little help from Steam guides. The game-play took a minute to get used to, but man, it was satisfying once you got the hang of it.
DLC:
When I reached the end I immediately bought the $15 DLC to see what else was in store and complete the rest of the achievements. This gave me a few extra hours of gameplay and although I was not the biggest fan of the timed trials, the extra map, story, and 10 extra levels were worth the buy.
Cons:
Although not many, I ran into a few bugs within my play-through. (Crashed at final boss)
The parts of the map where the water is not so deep are tedious to get into battles in as you accidentally surface a lot.
I wish there were more shark progression levels, as I progressed and grew pretty quickly without feeding much on regular fish.
I can't recommend this game in the slightest. As fun as it is with the gameplay, the performance is a complete other story like a complete 180 from how this game is. It's a fun game don't get me wrong, I really want to enjoy it, but about every 5 minutes to 1 hour the game just decides to crash. I'm running a 13900K with a 4060 Ti well way beyond what this game needs in the recommendation scale but the game itself is so unstable. I stay stuttering with FPS dropping to 0 and lagging complete making it unplayable, having to press escape so it my processor can fix itself for this game and then be able to play it again until it happens once again not even 2 minutes after.
There has been numerous reports about these issues, multiple "fixes," none of that works completely. The developers seem unaware or just don't want to deal with it so they excuse it with an "I don't know."
Everytime I go check my task manager, I see my processor spiking up to 100% when these stutters and lag moments happens.
On the case of crashes, I have no clue anymore I have tried multiple different fixes, advanced solutions, none actually work. Even updating my drivers and Windows, NOTHING.
I'd recommend this game only if the developers fix the performance situation along with the crashes, other than that I'll keep this as a no. I'm still going to try finishing this game regardless.
I had a lot of fun with this game.
However there are 2 things that bothered me:
- it's quite short (It took only 11 hours to 100%)
- it's not difficult at all. Every challenge in this game was very easy.
Besides that I had a great time.
If you want to swim around as an apex predator and eat all the things, then this is the perfect game for you. This games lets you live out your creature feature dreams whilst listening to the hilarious commentary from Cyril from tv's Archer. This game is a lot of fun if you don't take yourself seriously.
I really liked this game. This very under appreciated and I think it needs to be recognized more. I like the gameplay, the story is decent, and it looks pretty good and since I love sharks, this is one of my favorites. My only con would be the price since I wish it had a longer story for the price but it is still really fun.
a fun quick game, completable in 1 day and has a lot of funny jokes and cool shark facts
great game even on my pc it takes a toll on the cpu, anyways for the game its great nice graphics for a game released quite a long time ago, gameplay alot of things u can do, u can take it slowly or actually speed through it doesnt matter u will enjoy it either way, many ways to make ur shark into a beast either u wanna mix up the special abilities or u want to have a single set
This is a 10/10 - the controls take a bit of getting used to, but it's unbelievably fun. Full of quirky jokes, shark movie references, in-jokes and a great VO leading the whole 'Reality TV-Show' framing device. Highly recommend this to anyone looking for casual, not-too-hard, but very entertaining til the end!
i played this game when i was 11 in 2021, it was really fun. Although i decided to buy it again and play it cause it was on sale, and i rembered why i thought this game was fun. It is pretty reptitive tho but it is really fun, getting new unlocks and new sharks while fighting bosses is just fun man. This game is just fun lol.
It's a riot of a game and very fun and funny and gloriously reminiscent of a B movie horror but it's an extremely short game. Get it on sale.
good game. very different gameplay. great on steam deck.
nice story and gameplay
Buy on sale, but extremely fun. Only 15 hours or so of gameplay. If the person you're buying it for is a younger person - e.g. 7-11, they'll get a LOT more hours out of it most likely. Just recommend you to use enhanced sonar while you're exploring each region and spam the fk, out of it off cooldown to make sure you don't miss any Points of Interest.
the game was preatty fun but i didnt enjoy the dlc. the base game is preaty easy and fun but the dlc forces you to whip objects and i struggled with the auto lock allot. the dlc felt very repetative and the final dlc boss was anoyng and was only made worse by him tanking my fps to 2 when i get near him. (its not joke it really fell that low). if you get the game skip the dlc it doesent realy add much anyway.
Personally don't like it - game kept crashing after install. Found a fix in the discussions. Not a fan of having to fix a game right after buying it. Also, game isn't registering my mouse movements consistently, which means shark is staring at the wall or sky and I can't do a thing about it. Makes game play impossible. The little bit of time I was able to play made me motion sick - those of you sensitive to this may want to steer clear. I'm sure some people enjoy this game - but it's sure not for me.
