slightly repetative, but super fun game. It does not stretch it's playtime overly long, so the gameplay is fine for the short duration of the game. 100% it in roughly 17 hours. Would not pay full price, but get it during a sale and you wont regret your time as a badass shark.
"Shark eats.
Shark GROWS!
Shark DEVOURS!!
Shark EVOLVES!!!"
Cough! This is a pretty good game! :D I love that we have a non-humanoid protagonist here. I would definitely recommend this to those who like to
love it, swimming around killing other fish and hunting humans and fighting shark hunters, and all the body types u can evolve... awesome game!
Baby shark doo doo doo doo doo doo. Have you ever wanted to live out your fantasy of being an ugly shark lurking in the background of the ocean? have you ever just thought that you needed to take out your anger as on nemo for touching the butt? or did you mother just not hug you enough as a kid? well this game can help you with all those questions and more
I got this game for free on Epic Games and somehow my save files kept disappearing.
So I bought it on Steam and it doesn't have that problem, WORTH IT.
Finished the game a while ago (including dlc) im still yet to come back a 100% the game i remember when the game first came out watching thegamingbeaver play it and i was like whoa i have to get this game it looks so cool.
10/10 would recommend :D
It was a really fun and interesting game and I loved the experience. The whole game was fun and although the missions got repetitive, the game didn't get boring for me.
Score: 7.7/10
Crashes too many times to count but still enjoyable when it is steady. A simple game that you can enjoy for a weekend.
This game is awesome, it has a decent amount of gameplay with or without the truth quest DLC. The story is awesome with the DLC, without the DLC it isn't as good but still an amazing game. Also the graphics are really good. I am honestly kind of sad i beat the game and there is nothing else to do, will a maneater 2 come out?
7.5//10 game
The dialogue and characters are enjoyable the game play is entertaining but grinding infamy for the 100% was about 5 hours of my life i wont be getting back. Which is why only a 7.5 and not a 9. It cant be a 10 just because of how repetitive the game play is with very little deviation. I would say get it when on sale its a good game but it is NOT 40$ good.
Maneater is a thrilling and over-the-top action game that lets players experience life as a vicious shark, swimming through vibrant open waters, devouring everything in sight, and upgrading abilities to become the ultimate apex predator in a fun, chaotic, and satisfying adventure.
its so freaking fun being a Shork.
i recommended to buy it cus its just grindy and fun at the same time
This is an amazing game. I recommend this to everyone, this game is incredibly enjoyable and a good amount of content, I recommend buying especially when it is on sale, truly a masterpiece.
Not sure what I expected, but I'm having way more fun than I should. Excellent game for turning your brain off and enjoying some good old fashioned carnage
I finally 100% the game, I feel like I need more...more I tell you ! throw some more DLC ! I cant get enough of the narrator ! LOL I enjoy the game a lot even if the story line and controls are all over the place. All I can say was this game was fun and simple !
very fun and easy to beat game to kill time and mess around. full 100% in 14 hours is a good time
Great game Easy 100% sadly no newgame Plus to go back and enjoy it again.
Shit is so sigma I bought it twice and the DLC 😎😎😎 also dogshit lock on system but everything else coolio
Fun, refreshing game, unfortunately without much content. Expect around 8-10 hours of gameplay unless you decide to plow through it. At 75% off I'm happy.
Really fun game. Love this game. Watched it on youtube ages ago, and always wanted to play it. Just a clean play through and just now going to do a little completion-ist work on it
Little bug though. Dont get too far from the hunters if youre just farming human kills. It crashes the game if youre too far away from them when they are looking for you. Has happened twice now, different zones, but doing the same thing.
23 hours with the DLC, I was able to 100% the game.
I did enjoy this time, there are some hours of just fooling around in there for sure, however I feel like I want more.
The combat is fun, the swimming is great, don't be an idiot like me and max out the bounty early on, otherwise it will get difficult to do some of the side quests later on.
HELL YEAH!
Sharks have always been some of my favorite animals, and to have such an awesome game about how awesome they are is perfect. The game can be grindy at times sure, but grinds are always awesome if grinding involved duking it out with gators, sharks and hunters on boats. When it comes to games on Steam this one's easily in my top 5. It scratches the itch left behind by games like Prototype and Carrion, the former is likely to never come back and the latter has a small team of developers who understandably work at a snail's pace. Gamedev isn't easy folks.
I was also not expecting the depth of Scaly Pete's character and his son Kyle Leblanc, very much appreciated! Also Jerry from Rick and Morty did a phenomenal job as the Narrator.
I just bought Truth Quest DLC today as well, I don't care that it has mixed reviewes I NEED THAT EXTRA ABILITY SLOT and more Maneater content.
This game is exactly what you would expect. Ever played Hungry shark Evolution? This is that but 20 times better. 10/10 would commit revenge on mankind again.
You wanna have a fun 5-6 hours playing the story? This game has you. If you wanna complete everything and the DLC that'll be about 14. Probably not worth it if it isn't on sale. But if it is I say give it a shot, it's fun.
A fun gimmick when you have absolutely no idea what else to play. It's fun and mind numbing, cool scenery.
This game crashes like Hitman 2, be warned.
It is pretty fun, really scratches that part of my brain that wants to play as an overpowered monstrosity.
That being said, if you have even a modicum of gaming skill, you can pretty easily fight the shark hunters until you reach the maximum infamy level very early in the game, meaning you can become way too strong to really have any challenging fights in the game because those shark hunters set you way too far ahead.
The game becomes very tedious during the late-game content, which consists of Super Man 64 style ring racing and random little missions of killing 10 humans scattered around the map. Super boring in the late game and the only really enjoyable part of the game is how ridiculously large and powerful your shark can become.
All in all, the story sucks ass, the collectibles that the game puts way too much focus on are lame and uninteresting, the boat combat becomes repetitious, and most of the missions are boring.
Pretty fun shark game though. :)
It's a great game! Out being a shark biting everything. I did have this game freeze on me one time which forced me to restart my computer. Other than that it's a great game If you ever wanted the Shark experience!!!
I absolutely cannot possibly overstate how enjoyable and fun this game is. It's a game that lets you PLAY AS A SHARK! Those types of games are so damn rare, only other ones I can think of are the Hungry Shark games, and Jaws Unleashed. The story is a cheesy revenge plot, and the narration can be hilarious; but it's very satisfying watching your Bull Shark grow from a little pup that gets cut out of their mothers womb, to a fully grown terror that can destroy entire fleets of shark-hunting boats and eat pretty much anything in the ocean.
If I must criticize the game, the camera is quite awkward to get used to, there's an annoying bug that affects 10th, 11th, and 12th gen Intel CPU's that causes a majority of crashes (there's a fix for it), the game gave me a weird bit of Thalassophobia, and some of the collectibles are a tad annoying to find. Overall, I really enjoyed the game, and I PRAY that we eventually get more games in the future that let you play as a shark.
(PS: Please protect the ocean, and treat all ocean life with respect. We have ZERO reason to kill and maim sharks as often as we do. The ocean is their home, not ours.)
Fun, brutal and epic battles in a beautiful open world while you play as a blood thirsty shark is what make the game really good.
Great game, but won't stop crashing.
Apparently it's a problem with 12th, 13th, and 14th gen processors.
Avoid if your computer is newer unless you feel like having to work to get the game to run.
If you are tatering around with an older PC then go for it.
You're a shark....what more can be said......shark....rpg....shaRkPG.... worth absolutely...
Kidding aside... Great game if you wanna be a shark, swim around, and eat stuff.... Bad game if you don't want to do just that.... Fun game if you want just that.
I recommend highly...But again I like just swimming around, and eating things. If you don't might seem like a wash rinse repeat game for you NGL.
yes very good game about killing and eating people until they DIE! SO MUCH BLOOD AND SO MUCH DEATH!
I LOVE IT WHEN THEY SCREAM
Maneater is one of the most comical ocean-RPG games I have ever played. You play as a bull shark whose life is being followed for a TV series called Maneater, and aim to grow larger and larger through feeding on the many different predators and prey of the sea, and most especially, the namesake of the game, HUMANS. The narrator (Chris Parnell) who does commentary on your shark is so much of a truther and his lines of various theories as well as his quips about other things are some of the funniest I've seen in my life.
The games graphics and mechanics are both amazing, and the story with Scaly Pete is also really cool and funny. The only gripe I really have with the game is that the story was pretty short, but Truth Quest makes up for it just because of how hysterical the add-on is.
The game is an amazingly good time and I would highly recommend trying it out if you haven't already.
I really like this game. I don't know how I got it for free. It just showed up. Its not in my purchase history and I don't share my steam account. I like these types of games so its hard to not please me
had alot of fun with this game, pretty easy to 100%!
Spent hours grinding a save to get all skins, save got corrupted and lost everything... 100% recommend!
it crashes CONTUİEUSLY İT İS FUCKİNG HİLAROUS. WHY dont they mind fixing it. İ searched for solution but only thing i found is more people facing SAME or SİMİLAR problem
Gives me the same vibes as "Werewolf: The Apocalypse - Earthblood". Blood, endless killing and semi interesting story. All included in this 12 hour adventure.
When I was a kid , I was dreaming of playing the Jaws game. But only afford to watch gameplays in Youtube. Now , I owned Maneater. It was a like even better, the graphics , the gore , the RPG styled adventure. Top Notch game ever. It's so addicting, You see I played like 10 hours and already reached max level 30 and evolve to the highest tier mega shark. I can't bored with this game. Best game ever I addicted to play. 10/10 , would recommended.
about ten hours of play time with DLC, gets repetitive after 3-5 hours, also DLC contents are still a bit buggy(within acceptable range), worth it if you get it on sale, if not on sale, dont buy
Really Fun!
I'm about 7 hours in and I already completed some of the map sections to 100%. So I can tell it's not gonna be a super long game and I think that's a good thing. Let me explain why.
The game is really fun, it's a bad-ass shark RPG, what's not to like? But the overall premise of the game remains the same for each section of the map.
There are shallow swamps to super vast oceans! The map is great and really compliments the game and the way you play it.
So each map has a few collectables, some side missions, a main mission and a boss battle. It works and its fun! You're welcome to free roam between all of the connected maps, but in RPG fashion, the enemies are level based so you can't just diddy daddle where you want. You need to be prepared. If the game had more content than it currently has I feel it would have started to become repetitive but it's just enough content per section to keep it fresh for the next section,
The main story is actually really neat. The game tells its story through the eye's of a shark hunter in a shark week documentary fashion and it really works. You start as a cub and work your way to become THE MAN EATER!
The game has n skill tree which allows you to upgrade your teeth, fins, tail, DNA ect. And it really delivers that satisfying sense of accomplishment you know and love form an RPG.
So overall, the is really fun. And as Shark Game, I really can't think of anything they could have done to make it better? They pretty much nailed it.
Its not a full priced game, even if its not on sale so I really recommend that you give it a try if you are interested.
I'm currently playing this as a side game to take breaks from my main game and it works perfectly for that.
8.5/10
Baby shark to big shark, nom nom. Eat all the humans.
actually, game constantly crashes with no fixes. I mean if you want to gamble and maybe you might be in the 10% where the game doesnt crash constantly give it a shot. Game is fun if it isnt crashing constantly at boot or half way through a quest, there is alot of crashing complaints across all the platforms and no known fixes. Do you research.
I would only recommend the gamble on a steep sale, never full price.
Buggy, crashes a lot, takes forever to level up and the fights are too wonky to understand. Felt very frustrating to play. Would not recommend!
This game keeps you happy through out the whole story. it might be the best game in my library
Fun Game to play it once. Got it on Sale and because I don't see any replayability Value, you should too.
My 21 hours are probably on the longer side for one playthrough, but I did do a 100% of all areas and upgraded all "equipment" (for lack of a better word).
I guess if you are reading this, you're already interested in the idea of being a badass shark and you wonder if this is any fun?! I'd say heck yeah!
I recommend.
Hella good game would recommend to literally anyone its very entertaining
It's a very silly and shallow game that doesn't overstay its welcome. The reality TV show format is an interesting narrative device and Chris Parnell is always a treat. Experienced some bugs while playing but nothing gamebreaking. If you think you'd enjoy it, you likely will. Would recommend on sale.
Crash on startup cant find a way to fix. Tried all the fixes.
This review is based on 100% completion and 11.1 hours of gameplay.
Recommendation:
Would I recommend this game? Yes, but only if you lower your expectations and appreciate the goofiness of the game. Maneater is an okay little game that’s extremely repetitive, with only a few mission types and activities. Once you’ve experienced the first area, it’s essentially the same until the end of the game, which might not appeal to everyone. Keep that in mind when deciding whether to purchase it.
If you take a “it is what it is” attitude, you’ll likely enjoy the game more. The story is simple and easy to follow, with the gameplay largely focused on eating, growing, and evolving your shark. Everything is straightforward, with a few Easter eggs thrown in for fun.
When it comes to controls and mechanics, they can really frustrate you at times. The gameplay can feel clunky and unintuitive, especially when trying to jump out of the water. Often, the shark will do everything except what you want—it might jump backwards, sideways, or do a 180 back into the water. This can be really annoying. Additionally, the camera movement can be choppy, particularly when fighting near the water’s surface, which might make some players feel dizzy or nauseous.
As for the DLC Truth Quest, it’s more of the same from the base game. It adds a bit more content and a much stronger evolution for your shark. However, by the time you get to the DLC, you’ve likely already finished the base game, so you’ll only use the new evolution for a portion of the DLC.
Overall, if you’re looking for a game where you play as a shark and eat everything in your path, and you lower your expectations, this isn’t a bad experience. It can keep you busy for a few hours. I recommend picking up the Maneater Apex Edition (which includes the DLC) but only when it’s on sale, as I don’t find the base price for both worth the content you receive.
Achievements:
DLC is required for 100%. Some players have reported that certain achievements are bugged or glitchy, but I didn’t experience any issues, and all the achievements popped when they should have for me.
The achievements are all really easy to unlock, as most of them are earned simply by completing everything in the game. You won’t really need a guide, except for possibly finding the Questers in the DLC. Other than that, just complete everything, and you should unlock all the achievements without a problem.
