Know a bit late to the party but after playing through most of the DLC , Would definitely recommend this to anyone who wants to get the game.
As fun as it is to explore SAO world through Kirito's eyes WISH THEY DID MORE GAMES WITH CUSTOM PROTAG in the SAO universe. If they ever did SAO game post Alicization Arc , Would like a game in this format where we can explore the underworld using own char alongside Kirito's party.
Its not exactly a Looter-Shooter like borderlands/any shooter game in Genre but a solid Shooter game with One of the most fun Custom Protag SAO game story that has depth and material.
if u have no life, play. or just a fan of SAO. or basically the same thing, play it.

A fun SAO game where you can create your custom character and play alongside Kirito & his friends.
In spite it having many things left to be desired and missing polishing, I still very much enjoyed playing it.
Strengths: fun combat mechanics, interesting characters, story, humor.
Weaknesses: assets for monsters and dungeons being reused a lot, repetitiveness, fights can get tedious/frustrating, choices do not matter much.

its my favorite game and if you want to add me as a friend and play im looking for some help with the game it isnt like im not good at it but its a really hard game and i am actually pretty good at it but still would like some friends that can help me please and thank you
I've seen some of the anime but is missing a lot of context for what majority of the characters interactions meant so putting my two cents in is only towards the game and not the source material. the game is a very good solid foundation for a good time with some challenges and a ton of content in the main game. the DLCs however seemed kinda small until the fourth one where it has more story and character interactions rather than just go here do this kinda questing. one note thing about the main game is the frustrating tedium for getting the true ending but not to impossible. overall i give it a 8/10 for its ability to draw the player in..

For a GGO IP it has fucking garbage gunplay.
Lol it's a visual novel pretty much endless dialogue. But I think the ArFA-sys is very very kawaii so I thumb up.

My hours look low but that's because this game is so good I had to buy it on PC (all DLC) after playing it for years on Xbox, the next SAO games need to learn from Fatal Bullet, I absolutely love this game.
wow these controls for kb/m are absolutely abysmal. cannot even use the mouse to navigate menus ffs i won;t even bother finding out how bad the rest is, just making it through character creation feels like an elden ring bossfight with the amount of keyboard inputs needed.
One thing to note, the controls are absolute trash. None of the devs have ever actually played this on the PC, if they've ever played it at all. Japanese menu systems, craptastic menu navigation without a mouse... And aiming is expected to be done on a controller.
Now, that said, the game itself is pretty interesting, and you have a large variety of weapons and abilities to keep you occupied. If they'd made it so you could coop your way through the game, I'd have loved it deeply. They didn't, it uses a lobby system where you can go on various little side quests, and the solo experience is kept separate.
If you are a large fan of SAO, and can get over the stupid control issues, give it a go. And if you're liking for something a little more fantasy, try out sword art vs accel world. Similar issues, super crappy controls, but actually really solid character building and lots of options. The multiplayer is done in the same way, don't expect a ton of coop, but you can actually go into the open world together in multiplayer in that one.

Originally played on ps4 with 500 hours, and 140 on nintendo switch, Its a great game..hell of a grind but its still a fun game, although i do wish the online wasnt so dead but again cant complain with all the content this game has to offer its still worth it.
Bring this back please i love that i could make my own character in this game

Kirito my idol.
Genuinely painful game to play, I suppose if you like the anime you'll like the game.
It's not a perfect game by far, but it has extremely heartwarming moments and you can cuck Kirito.
this game was one of those games I got on a massive sale one day thinking this might be a blast with friends.
Next thing I knew I was fighting ninja brothers that fuse into one and farming them to get one of the best AR in the game.

The game was an absolute blast to play. The game play was fun & kept me hooked right till the end. The story was amazing. !!!SPOILERS!!! (Heart wrenching towards the end). Definitely my favorite game so far
I played this game on Xbox through gamepass back in 2020, but when it was leaving gamepass I bought the PS4 version, but never played that, but when I got my PC last year, this was on sale a while back, and im totaly hooked again! :)
I wish this was the direction they went for with the other SAO games! It is seriously interesting getting a new story to make our OWN as the player, rather than reliving the anime to a T. The character customization is extremely satisfactory as there's various options for your base look along with costumes and gear to look like existing characters of the franchise! Also, you get to give your robot companion a unique look as well!! I personally enjoy the look of the UI and world design, but the character CG's are the real masterpiece and imitate the SAO style perfectly while offering new content! The only downside I have is that the online/multiplayer portion of the game is almost completely dead, BUT this game is 6 years old and not meant for longevity. ╮(￣▽￣"")╭

Ring 0 DRM Denuvo and EAC. Won't be playing again until these are removed. With this game's age and the fact there's already a cracked version out there, no point in keeping Denuvo. I am willing to lose all online functionality if it means not having to launch EAC as well.
its imposible to get past lvl 1 cause the upgrade system is so dam complicated
At first I quite like this game, as it gives off the same vibes as the anime, but there are several problems with it that make it not fun to play:
- enemies that are essentially stats checks, placed in strange places (I was over 10 lvl over recommended, but got one shot either way)
- game cares more about how much time you spend in it (by putting stats/weapon upg.) rather than skillful play
- combat is quite basic, and quickly gets boring
- inflation
This game is not bad per se, but it just isn't really for me.
This is the third time ive bought this game, absolutely love it!
Don't grab it at full price. Worth the price on sale, it's pretty fun. But I wouldn't personally pay full price.

Would recommend if you dont care much abt artstyle or Story.

its a great story, however there is sometimes that the gadgets glitch out of existence in certain dungeons and it gets a little irritating

Decided to purchase this game again, used to play it on Xbox a few years back but lost access to that account/console. Anyway, I really enjoy spending time pew pew and jumping up and down and woo-pow, you know. The only thing I'm noticing, after coming back, is that the co-op modes are reeeeeeeeeaallly dead. Since I've returned, there are either no rooms going or some 2 strangers finishing a game and then closing the room - haven't got a chance to join one :') and I know some levels there are pretty fun, great for grinding too.
(P.S. Hit me up for co-op!) But still, good game to spend some time :D

If you just want a GGO game with the GGO map aesthetics like in the anime.
*This Game's GGO UI looks nothing like the UI in the anime.
Good but snapping to places where you hide from enemy fire on an edge of a wall is wonky and doesn't let you shoot back despite being in clear sight of enemy bullets.
