I'm a fan of all the Nancy Drew games, but this is one of my favorites. It's classic point and click and adventure with some mystery and puzzles.
I hate to thumbs down a Nancy Drew game, but this one frustrated me to no end. From the beginning I was unsure of what to do next and there weren't even that many actual "puzzles" to solve. I also had to look up anybody's number that Nancy had to call because for some reason thy weren't showing up on my call list. Overall I do suggest playing it for the completion feeling if you want to have played them all, but be prepared for it to feel like the game drags on despite it only being about 3 hours.
beat it quickly! just make sure to check EVERYTHING as you play , talk to everyone ,etc.
Not so many puzzles but I enjoyed the story.
very few puzzles. Mostly conversation.
One of my favorite classic Nancy games. It has a cool old theater, great music. There is a lot of detective work that makes you think, but it's not too difficult. This game is full of nostalgia for me, but it still hold up as great game maybe years later.
Easy to follow, fun puzzles, relatively quick game. Good for casual playing, but can be addictive!
short but sweet. very tense atmosphere, especially towards the end. highly recommend.
Wow, of almost all of the Nancy Drew games I've played, this one has the most foreboding atmosphere!
The first thing that I really liked about this game was the environment; it had me gripped from the start! The Royal Palladium Theater is an eerily beautiful location; a historic theater from the 1920s. The theater is filled with elaborate and ornate decorations and details... but sadly, the theater's very dilapidated now. Between the wear and dilapidation of the theater and the discordant music as you explore, the whole environment gave a really unsettling feeling, let alone with the main focus of the plot: Nancy Drew's friend has been kidnapped!
With only 3 days until the theater is going to be demolished, Nancy has to find her friend before it's too late! You're under constant unease with threats from the culprit and the constant tension, and the atmosphere is INTENSE.
This is a spoiler-free review, so I will not disclose who the culprit is (but the first bit I mentioned about the plot is explained at the beginning of the game), but this game's culprit was one of the last culprits I would've suspected. The culprit seemed sweet and trustworthy. I don't usually find myself surprised by the culprits in these games, but this one surprised me.
Overall, this game was impactful. The eerie atmosphere, the intense race against time, and the feeling of danger and dread were pretty intense; maybe almost a bit too much for me at times. However, I'm sure that fans of the more thrilling/suspenseful Nancy Drew titles would love this!
This game wasn't completely without problems, but I still think it's quite a solid game. I found that the puzzles in this game were comparatively tame compared to some Nancy Drew games I've played in the past. This was one of the shorter games in duration.
On the note of the emotions I felt during this game:
Exploring the theater made my heart sink a little. It was an amazing environment to explore, but it did make me feel... really sad and uneasy, I confess. It gave me the same feeling I feel when I see real dilapidated buildings, especially ones that used to be so grand. It feels horrible to see such a place in such disrepair; places that used to be so bustling. In my opinion, the game gives this feeling so well. It gives this heartsick feeling that I've felt, myself.
On this note, this was the intended effect, I'm sure! And it worked, that's for certain.
I love historical places and things. I enjoyed seeing the 1920's architecture and design styles in the theater (despite the wear and grime), and it really lent a feeling that it used to be a fabulous place. It almost makes me want to see concept art or fan art of the theater at its prime.
Anyway, this was quite an experience, and I'd definitely recommend this Nancy Drew game!
I couldn't wait for it to be over. Super boring, anti-climatic. Very small set-up for game play and very small amount of inventory that you pick up. Not exactly aesthetically pleasing either and didn't love any of the characters.
Classic ND game
Good Game. Case solved. And one of the more triggered games. Sometimes you cathed in some things searcher, like gummy. But telling the rest is interesting combination of stress factor & quick quest solution.
It may not be the best Nancy Drew game, but I think it has a solid plot and the villain was surprising (not in a where did that come from, kind of way though) the first time I played it.
Very enjoyable. Great story line & atmospheric.
