Описание
Warpaint - это настольная игра физики, в которой вы командуете армией гномов и запускаете катапульты. Ударьте страх в своего противника с помощью вашей расписанной армии. Even if you have a powerful PC, it will still be problematic to try and play, it just never loads correctly. It COULD be fun, but it is just horribly formatted to run on any device other than the developers. I wish I could be positive, but I really can't.
Its broke. Just broken. Tutorial button doesnt work. Right hand flys into oblivion (Righty works for beatsaber and boneworks just fine btw). this thing is busted. Looks fun, but can't play due to the game being fucking broken.
If you're thinking of buying this because it reminds you of Crossbows and Catapults... or because it looks like fun... You'd be wrong. On both accounts. I purchased this on a whim because of what I wanted it to be, and ignored the many accurate reviews telling me what it actually was. Don't do the same. If a developer reads this and cares - I'd love to help you "fix" this... because the idea is really cool.
Absolutely blood awful. I thought it would be a fun, physicsbased strategy boardgame. It was so horrendous, in every way. Every smooth VR control you ever experienced, this game has none of it. Want to change camera / zoom in zoom out? Well you cant, or i couldn´t figure it out. You dont grab the screen, you cant use the sticks. Clicking the right stick teleports you somewhere, but it´s usually beneath the map or into models. The graphics are horrendous, the animations are non existent. And the gameplay seemed awfully shallow. DONT BUY. EVER!!
You need this game! Anyone who enjoys strategy, from classic style board games (like chess) to turn based tactical rpgs, you will love this game. My only compaint is that we don't have enough people playing it yet, so online is still slow. So pick this game up, get good, and try to beat me!
Awesome strategy game. Ok so let me break this down so you can see why I love this game and why it can be so fucking hard.
First off, if you get this game, get a copy for a friend, it's way better pvp and you can't just always find a game online.
Now, you start with an army... you see a castle in the distance... siege engines are right there beside the bulk of your army and you also have a flanking force of fast moving knights on the high ground on the right flank. So what you have to do is siege the castle, you have the advantage of numbers, you both have the same bloody catapults, but your's bounce off walls, really only endangering your own troops! Defenders smash you to bits if you're not careful.
Fun right? Yeah it is! But then you break through... let's say you open a gate or find an open approach to the castle... that's when all hell breaks loose!!!
So in combat it's like chess and you take the opponents pieces, but in chess you move 1 troop at a time. Here you can move everyone 1x per turn. So you start thinking, god 3 minutes is way more time than i need for a turn. ... ... And then the 2 armies are about to engage and you realize what a small small man you are. You start thinking... if i move here than he moves there... and ...etc. etc.
So then your strategy suffers cause you don't have the time to think through all the possibilities. And then as this first little skirmish/exchanging stage is going on, these catapults are knocking out troops sometimes 2 or 3 at a time! So all your strategy can go out the window with 1 good or bad catapult!
Your army will be obliterated... you'll fight for control of the catapults and then suddenly you realize you've got this dominated or you're totally fucked.
Fucking awesome game if you like chess. It's pretty simple, would love a campaign as someone else mentioned. If you like simple strategy games with endless permutations try it out.
Good game, needs mods tho
Would be a good game for someone who enjoys chess, checkers, or varied board games. However not me, but good job. Its a decent looking game for someone more low key.
I love the idea of this game, but for me singleplayer is broken (i.e. nothing happens when I press the buttons). Model painting keeps zooming me out and takes forever to zoom back in. Very creative game, but there are a lot of bugs that i've been experiencing, within the first 12 minutes of playing this game.
To call this a 'physics tabletop game' is wildly misleading. There are 4 pieces and a catapult. There are less unique movements in this than chess, which is 1500 years old. In 2017 you can't improve on that at all? The 'physics' piece is even more of a joke considering you get exactly one option which is to shoot a catapult that doesn't even use the same launch mechanics each round - ball goes 2ft then 20ft when pulled back with the same power. Just a goat to try and get money from new VR players that think sub-par content should be acceptable since there isn't a huge library of great games yet.
Making an homage to old games like GW's "Battle Masters" or "Crossbows and Catapults", this game is a little gem for old boardgamers and wargamers like myself.
And you can even paint your miniatures yourself!
I've played the non-VR version and had a blast!
This is a hard one to review: the concept is great, and I'm excited to see some tabletop strategy come to VR. The game is fun, though it definitely lacks polish. The music is good, but the voices are repetitive and don't add much to the 'feel' of the game. The game design is solid enough, like a limited version of chess set on a dynamic battlefield. However, there are only 3 regular units types (and the catapaults), and most battlefields are too large, which results in a largely lackluster match. While I haven't played against human opponents (and I will in the future, I hope, since the AI is dreadfully bad), I never felt much intensity or 'epicness' while playing that I would normally feel in a boardgame, particularly for one thats been ported to VR and allows me to physically get right into the action. I recommend the game so that others might try it out and encourage the devs to expand on their game: polish the map and controls, add extra unit types, and hopefully rework map design to lead to more strategically tense matches.
From what I could play it was really cool, but for some reason it crashed and now says CONTENT LOCKED
This game is cute, fun, lighthearted and has awesome customization via the army painter. It's fun to play with friends, games tend to be rather short, with chess like movement of the various pieces and physics based guesswork as you steer and fire the catapaults.
All in all I love this game, it's a cute little title that deserves a lot more attention. This game has a lot of potential and I'd love to see the community in it thrive. Keep an eye on this developer, I have the feeling we're going to see a lot more good titles from them.
Surprisingly fun little game that I got on sale for $5. I've got 4 hours into it already which is more than I've gotten out of a lot of VR games on Steam. It works well both in VR and on PC, and can even run it on my Surface Pro 3 on the go in non-VR. It's a rather simple game, but the physics of the catapult really make the difference. From mising a shot to a triple kill, it's a lot of fun. There's also a good variety of maps already. The AI is mediocre, I've yet to lose a game to it, even when I was just learning, but it's still fun to play against. In VR everything works as you would expect, and the sense of scale can be very immersive. Making shots with your Catapults seems to be a tad more accurate when you're actually peering over the top/edges to calculate your angle perfectly. A big feature of the game, painting the figurines, isn't something I care much about. However I found enough fun in the core gameplay to recommend it. For $10, it's a bit pricey for what it is, but $5 is the perfect price and recommend it if you catch it on sale.
A game with simple rules which create an elegant strategic game. Plus the sound effects are hilarious
Please note:
I only have a mouse and keyboard, so no VR for me.
The game itself is spectacular. Reminds me a great deal of board games and toys I played with as a kid; it really brought back some nostalgia. Protip: Keep your catapults handy at all times, they're super useful.
Now, there are three different types of units:
Pawns. They move 2 spaces at a time in any direction.
Knights. They move 4 spaces in a straight line.
Wizards. They move... strangely. The best way I can describe it is they move to a triangular cluster of hexes one square away.
Catapults I guess are also a unit, but they need to be escorted to be used and moved. Their physics are just dandy, and the sound the boulder makes is reminiscent of a hollow plastic ball.
On to the thing a lot of people will be asking: How is the miniature painting?
The answer: Amazing!
In a few hours (even with mouse and keyboard) I'd painted the three different units in my favourite colours. I'm still getting to grips with the highlight and lowlight painting, but the basic colours are there!
In short, this game is well worth your money, and needs more players!
An amazing and underrated turn based strategy game for the Vive! If you love VR and tabletop strategy games then this game is for you! Not only is the strategy gameplay excellent, but you can even scale yourself down to gamepiece size which is amazing and this is exactly how VR makes strategy games amazing.
Also I love the catapult mechanic in VR. It's the cherry on top of an amazing game. Be sure to pick this hidden gem up.
Seems like a very polished and fun game. I would consider this a strategic board game with a really smart and detailed paint program! It's pretty cool so far! Great camera control with really nice playing fields! This looks to be a very nice and thought out game.
I'll review it later, but for now I wanted to let the Mac user's know how silky smooth the game runs for me at 1400x900 res, with max graphics settings. Very nice! KUDOS to the dev's!
Hardware Overview:
Model Name: MacBookPro 11,5 (Mid 2015)
Processor Name: Intel Core i7
Processor Speed: 2.8 GHz
Number of Processors: 1
Total Number of Cores: 4
L2 Cache (per Core): 256 KB

Video Card: AMD Radeon R9 M370X, VRAM 2048 MB
Operating System: OS X El Capitan version 10.11.6 (64 bit OS)
I liked this, it's simple, very easy to pick up and there is a lot of strategy under the surface. Only major disappointment is the absence of a singleplayer campaign, that would have been awesome!
Pros
- Intuitive gameplay mechanics, lots of strategy, plenty of variety in unit tactics
- Deep (if time consuming) unit painting feature
- Physics based catapults let you play a 3D game of pool trying to knock over you opponent's units (great fun)
Cons
- No Campaign
- Could be more unit types
