In “Hanse: Empire of Merchants”, you are an aspiring merchant during the age of the Hanseatic League. When the Hanse finally put an end to your notoriously successful smuggling racket, they offered you the choice to serve this league of traders as merchant yourself or spend the rest of your life behind bars. Henceforth, you travel to over 30 cities all across 15th century Europe in the name of the illustrious Hanse. You will even get the opportunity to explore and settle in North America! Trade with over 100 different goods and help the Hanse achieve untold power and riches. Secure the support of political allies through strategic marriages and thus establish a successful merchant dynasty of your own. 1) A complex medieval trading simulation:
As a merchant of the Hanseatic League, your goal is to make as much profit as possible by establishing a world spanning network of ship routes. Buy and sell your goods just-in-time before your competition makes a better deal.

• Trade more than 100 goods between 38 cities on two continents (Europe and North-America)

• Choose between 6 different historically appropriate ship types to transport your goods


• Make your own automatic trading routes to make your trade network even more efficient

• Gain influence for the Hanseatic League by trading the goods cities need for their growth or their production


2) Dynamic city development:
Cities grow or loose population depending on the quality of goods you deliver. Unlock new production buildings and make cities discover new raw materials to diversify their markets.

• Your behavior as a merchant influences the development of cities

• Fully simulated production chains and population consumption


• Fulfil quests given by cities to help them with special situations and requirements and become rewarded

• Cities can be hit by the plague. Help them out by providing medicine. Support rebuilding the city after fire catastrophes by delivering raw materials and lacking goods.


3) Turn-based tactical ship battles:
The high seas can be a dangerous place. Without protection your goods are easy prey for pirates or competing guilds.

• Battle other ship convoys in turn-based, table-top style ship battles

• Customize your ship convoys with 3 ship classes: transporters, warships and protectors


• Play a peaceful trader or aggressively loot the opponent’s ships

• Evade the pirates and protect your ships and goods


4) Strategic political gameplay:
Six powerful merchant guilds compete for political influence over the most important cities of Europe and America. Your task is to achieve political influence over as many cities as possible and make the Hanse as powerful as possible.

• Lead the Hanseatic League to power while at the same time increase your family's reputation in the Hanseatic Council.

• Become mayor of cities in an immersive election game by winning against your opponents; bribe your way to the top or use fair diplomatic measures


• Extend the Hanse beyond its historical borders into the New World

• Deal with trading bans and customs on goods, imposed by one of the other guilds or impose them yourself after having reached the needed position



5) Social Simulation:
Marry, have children and grandchildren. Watch your family span multiple generations and establish a trading dynasty.

• Each character in the game is born with unique traits – positive and negative. Some are suited for a life of a diplomat, others fare better as captains at sea.

• Strategically marry and assign jobs to your relatives to secure your economic and political influence.

• Pass your wealth to your children if you pass away and build up your dynasty.
