Soft inrodution to DOTA2
fun
I think it's pretty good. The controls are suppose to be a little bit hard on purpose so ignore that. It's casual but that's wanting it too casual.
Super fun. The spells feel unique, and different schools of magic feel like they have their own play-style. Extremely fun with friends
Plus if you write a review you get the quill cosmetic
Love these types of party fight games
Absolutely loving it... way better than slayertheplayer! He can't even get a penta kill.......shame
If you're looking for a simple party game to play with some friends at a LAN or Online this game is 100% worth getting. The ability draft mechanic between rounds keeps the game interesting and fair. The controls being intuitive but slightly more difficult to aim adds to the chaotic fun of the game. Definitely worth picking up on sale for sure.
One of the best party games I've ever played
IT'S WEEZARD TIME! FIREBALL!
also for those complaining about bad controls, the controls themselves aren't terrible, it is just tricky to aim on the fly - but it is equally hard for everyone else to aim, so that's part of the charm. Just the right amount of jank.
Saw the recent reviews were mixed so thought I'd add mine in. Combat is clunky and some of the spells are more powerful than others, but these 'flaws' add to the overall enjoyment. Brilliant game to play with friends.
3 hour review: almost refunded over an hour in but figured out i could change controls (please add aim sensitivity controls) and is really really fun if you try some combos in training (kncokback is the funniest part) and finally manage to hit bots in couch (offline bot matches) :D
Sluggish combat… very boring.
Absolutely abysmal controls. I started on kbm. First it has me in mouse movement mode which was insane that they even conceived a version of controls like that. I hit F1 to swap to WASD. I play a bit like that. The mouse doesn't have a cursor, it only reads your recent direction of mouse movement to move an arrow. Holy crap that's awful. They suggest you do controller, okay fair enough. I pull on the controller and low and behold it still feels awful. It's not like a twin stick shooter the direction you cast is just the last direction you were inputting on left stick. You can start casting a spell and your arrow disappears then it just fires out at a direction no where near where you were aiming.
Requested refund. 10 minutes in and I can tell this ain't it.
A fairly fun party game, that can truly be played more casually or competitively. They even host their own tournaments quite often! The gameplay is simple on the surface, but with all the possible combinations of spells make it such a fun and learning experience! Oh, and curving spells? i can't curve my head around it but it sure is nifty once you know it!
My only complaint, would be the struggle of levelling up and getting gems. I think there would be a much greater incentive to play more often if gems did not feel like such a slog to earn, and the items so expensive. If new players could feel like they have some more options, im sure it would be much more enticing to all!!!
this game is REALLY REALLY fun, but i feel as if it is extremely difficult to know where youre shooting, especially as a mouse/keyboard user and a cursor on screen would be very helpful. I recommend this game to those who wish to play something with their friends, or enjoy to play something in online matchmaking.
PS - thank you dev for telling me that there IS INDEED online matchmaking, sorry lol.
just put the quill cosmetic in the bag bro
Possibly my favorite arena combat game to play with my friends. Drafting different spells and creating insane situations with the use of my spells and my enemies is a treat, especially when unintentional.
The controls are crazy if you use keyboard but this game is a lot of fun!
If you liked Warlocks from Warcraft III, you'll like this. It is a bit different, but a lot more fair/"competitive" style.
Fun Game for awhile.
vedi ggooooooood game
Great game to play with friends (even against bots)!
But there are very few players online.
Genuinely amazing fun. The endless spell combos and great gameplay loop make this a blast with some friends.
MageQuit is a wonderful game for locking you and your friends in an arena so that you can blast them with magic. Great game. Would and did buy.
Fantastic for playing couch co-op with your girlfriend so you can strategically pick the last of every spell she wants, but then she gets pissed, puts you in a tree and sacrifices you to Jeff the shark (the world's biggest op). Be warned, if you like a game with zippy movement this isn't for you - but the slower movement/ aiming is all part of the balance.
Only downside is the online player base is pretty small, so while you often queue against familiar faces, those faces may be sweaty and absolutely smash yours in.
Incredibly underrated game, highly recommend.
Extraordinarily fun with friends. Short gameplay loops, no progression system that adds an edge (it's just cosmetic) so it's overall a great time
This game is so much fun I'm so mad at my friends it's great.
Very Good Party Game Much Fun
Great party game to play with some friends. It can get quite competitive and as soon as learn how to combo some spells you can be an absolute monster!
An arena brawler of a very different pace than most. It's purposefully anticipatory and predictive rather than reactive and "twitchy". Planning, fake-outs, and reading opponent's moves are great paths to victory.
Spell drafting: Fun and feels well-balanced.
Netcode: Very good.
Graphics: Nostalgic and distinct in their own right.
Music: Catchy and charming.
Progression: Unlocking outfits is on the slow side but it's not really the focus and it gives you something to slowly work towards if you want it.
Sports: The best.
Developers: Responsive.
I'm a huge couch game enthusiast and this is my favorite of the bunch. It's usually a huge hit at parties, especially with it supporting up to ten players and tutorialization being built right into the normal flow of the game (spell descriptions during drafting and with newbies I start with just a single spell in the first round).
nice
very fun supports local co-op which is nice good variant of abbilitys and great for freinds
It's aight.
Fix your bots.
The controls are possibly the worst I've ever seen in any game I've ever played.
I don't want to be forced to use a controller to play a game.
Some games are definitely better played with one, like platformers, or Binding of Isaac, but this one should have been playable with mouse & keyboard just fine.
The mouse control scheme is horrible, unusable.
The WSAD control scheme is slightly better, but then you have spells bound to 1 2 3 4, which is very hard to use properly because you can't fire your spells and move correctly at the same time.
Uninstalled and will never play it again.
Good luck.
Very fun party game. tons of fun with friends 10/10 recommend
Me start fire fire good
Slow and Calclulating Wizard PVP online with friends. Hilarious spell combinations. Hilarious physics.
You'll need both luck and skill to win.
Good.
New favourite party game with friends - easy to learn but hard to master. Shame that most of the online play is just playing against bots but the player count is so low, it's probably the only way to avoid completely empty lobbies atm.
Played a game with a few friends. It pretty fun to play
great local game, needs to be more poular. great balancing and fun gameplay.
P good
Goated party game if you have friends you can convince to play. Online matchmaking sucks due to small player base but the game itself is so incredibly fun. The spell combos are so fun (Vine pull + geyser my beloved)
nice
game is no fun there is no shop graphics are mid draft system sucks i want to have a shop and come up with a strategy and i want bigger maps that shrink and iceskate like in good old warlock
SH*TTY game and even worse controls
Forced tutorial? Trash
Game Mechanics? Trash
Concept? Trash
Incredible game, 100/10, Nerf everything
