Manage your city poorly and you shall watch it burn, be pillaged or collapse in economic ruin. Manage it well and ultimately the greatest Egyptian structures will be built in your honor. Your rule will span generations, until your dynasty, your royal bloodline produces a Pharaoh!
Pharaoh includes many features never before seen in a city building game, such as a farming model based on the flooding of the Nile, naval warfare, giant monuments that are assembled over time, unique dynastic progression, and variable difficulty levels. This a massively addictive, huge, but most importantly fun game that is a great choice for anyone looking for a solid city builder title, or an intellectual challenge.
- Pharaoh + Cleopatra bundle includes Pharaoh and Cleopatra: Queen of the Nile expansion.
- A city-builder gem, made by the creators of the award-winning Caesar III.
- Extensive help section not only does an excellent job at explaining the game mechanics, but also contains many interesting facts and trivia about life in Ancient Egypt.
- Destroy enemies on land and sea, or simply build the perfect Egyptian city of your liking with the City Construction Kit.

Absolute classic. I had the CD copy of this game ever since its release and I'll always go back to it.
Great Game Highly Recomended
I enjoy the city building guidance and the historic background.
Nothing much to it but perfect for that nostalgia feel of original city building games. This is one of the first computer games I got hooked to and I'm so glad I can replay this as part of my childhood.
Just a fantastic game--city-building, strategy, relaxing cozy game. Loved it as a kid, love it as an adult. Still my go-to when I need a nice, nostalgic relaxing time.
This is the first game I was obsessed with. I spent hours of my summer playing it. The OG city building game as far as I'm concerned.
Addictive calm fun
good game
Game is a bit of a relic so know what you are getting into. It's fun and I like the look and theme but my goodness if it isn't finicky. Unemployment at 6%? people will complain they can't find jobs. Place of work is too far from people's houses? They will refuse to work. Places of work too close to where people live? Now the houses are undesirable and people are moving away and your unemployment is going up because you tried to fix the unemployment problem.
Still fun but don't expect a smooth experience if you aren't used to 90s/ early 2000s city builders.
While this is an excellent throwback, there are missions that can't be completed at the hardest level. Schools and mortuaries stop working (yes I have them stocked and staffed). Played about 554 hours so it absolutely has value. At some points you will have to tear down/rebuild schools and mortuaries to get them running again (but that seems to eventually fail regardless). One mission only fix was to drop difficulty just below the hardest. No updates in a looooooong time. From what I've read, someone created a more expensive version with worse bugs. For $5, worth it but it seems like such an easy fix.
This is citybuilding perfection. Absolutely do not try it if you have serious commitments in your life
I really wish they made simple, enjoyable and story driven strategy game like these two!
Great game to just zone out and city build
It is simple to learn but complex to play
Best city building game ever..
Buggy and crashes often, the game speed is so fast it's unplayable
I have always paid for my games. I wish this was given for free. I have played this game in various formats through the years and the steam version is one of my favorites. I highly recommend the game as it is challenging.
It's the same fun game that I enjoyed in the 90's/
Great classic city building game
its fun
yes
I used to play this game all the time in my childhood, it was so so hard, but I loved every second of it. The furthest I ever got was the second Sinai Expedition. Warts and all, I still love this game.
It's a classic that brings back childhood memories, still looks solid after 20+ years.
I have been playing this game since 2010. While it can be very overwhelming, it is an easy slide into old 4x games
excellent visuals and easy gameplay
Probably the most difficult game of the old city-building genre.
This game will test your city-management skills to the limit. In the later missions, you'll be asked to build a giant pyramid while fending off enemy armies while having to manage an economy that requires you to import most of the raw materials in a land that is 3/4 desert, therefore barely any space to get water from.
I hate the fact that when cities make food requests, they want a specific type of food. Even if in middle of a famine, they'd rather starve to death than eat something that is not Chickpeas.
I played this back in the day, without the Cleopatra expansion. The larger pyramids are super time-consuming to build, so be thankful that the expansions adds an option to speed up monument construction using blessings. Make sure to turn that on if you don't want to be like me who stopped twice after Itjtawy because I couldn't be bothered anymore.
Oh well, at least I became Pharaoh.
I absolutely adore this game, i've owned the CD's since the early 90's but as electronics progress my poor CD's could not. You start with early Egypt and build you way up through time, from Shanty's to luxury apartments, hunters to farming, and so much more.
I played this game originally as a child and am so happy that I found it again as an adult. The play is exactly how I remember it and now that I'm older, I can appreciate the complexities, strategy, and game play even more. There are many levels of difficulty through numerous missions/locations and the standard mission timeline is very helpful and fun.
Campy and raw, and yet sooooo fun! reminds me of when I was about 10 in late 80's - early 90's playing sim building in its nascent stage!
Nice, I wish they would make more if these kind of games.
good
Good Ol' nostalgic fun
always a great original to pass time. teaches the basics of strategy based gaming and can become highly addictive.
I have been playing this game since it came out along with Caesar and Pharaoh. I have gone years and years between bouts of playing obviously. I still have my saved games and my goal is to finish the whole game one day. Im in my 40s now and started when I was 20. LOL. So it is taking me a while between uni and career and kits and grandkids. Ill get there one day. Awesome game though.
This was the game that introduced me to city builders. it's always fun to come back to reminisce and relax.
Dancing hippos
It's a game I come back to time and time again. I place it in my classic game category and get a lot of enjoyment and satisfaction from playing. Could be a good game for a budding civic engineer as the layout and planning of a city is a primary concern. Couple that with managing resources and its a recipe for a good time for any "planners" out there.
love the nostalgia
I used to sit and watch my dad play this game for hours, watching the pyramids build up layer by layer. Zeus is my favorite of these games, but I still have a soft-spot for this one.
