Ancient Rus is an uninspired trivia/quiz game.

The only reason you would enjoy this game is if you are insanely deep into 'Ancient Rus' history, otherwise there are almost no chance you would like it. It is just back to back questions and answers, you can finish the game whether you're wrong or right and there's only a few lines of explanations after you choose your answer to explain what the right answer is, that's it.

With barebone graphics, one royalty-free track and 15-20 minutes of content, this game has absolutely zero replayability. The facts aren't engaging to entertaining, they're just about what names were 'X' people called or what 'Y' person did for 'Ancient Rus', etc.

Overall, exceptionally boring, short and uninteresting. Not recommended from me unless you're big into 'Ancient Rus'.

A Simple Quiz Game (this review is for the English version of the game)

What this game is:

This is a simple quiz type game about Russia's ancient history.

How does it perform?

You must answer questions regrouped in five chapters. A short introductory text may, or may not appear before each question. After answering, you will know if your answer was right or wrong. If you have enough good answers, you'll graduate to the next chapter. It works well enough, and has no bug that I could identify.

The good points:

the gameplay is simple and relaxed, you play at your own pace. It is cheap and has both Achievements and Steam Tradiing Cards. It takes less than 300 MB of space on your HD and can be played by a 10 years old PC. All achievements are working and can be obtained through playing normally.

The bad points:

The game is simply a succession of texts and questions, structured as if it were a powerpoint slide show. As such, it is unimaginative and very simple. The questions may at times be very unclear, which may be caused by the translation from Russian to English. This means that answering may often be merely a question of luck. The game is very short.

Conclusion:

This game is basically cheap, and can be had at lower price from time to time. For what the game will provide you with, I can recommend buying it at a discount when it happens. It has many shortcomings, but you will learn some surprising facts about Russia's ancient history, and thus acquire some intellectual bling ;-)

Be warned - this game is only a quiz!

I read the description, and being a Slav myself, thought it would be interesting to "learn some interesting facts about early history of Russia and Ukraine". I expected a little reading, followed by the quiz. However, this is simply a straight up quiz. If you're looking for that, then great, but chances are you don't know even a small portion of that information, so it's a guessing game.

Personally, I would have loved a lot more information, and better organization of that information. It felt rather thrown together, as far as the questions go.

Damn, that soundtrack though! Incredibly epic so it's becoming hilarious when you play just sit and answer questions. Those Ancient Rus facts brought me so many memories from highschool!

Basically, a trivia quiz game, without any of the usual flashiness or variety. Honestly, not worth a purchase unless you're interested in the facts, though I didn't even fact-check them; or if you want to collect some more achievements.

Древняя Русь / Ancient Rus is an educational game about Russian and Ukrainian medieval History. It solely consists in quizzes. The questions difficulty level is fluctuating. Some questions can be answered with a bit of general culture, others will require a strong knowledge of these specifics areas of history.
After the player has answered a question the right answer is given with some more details on tne subject.
Short game & Easy achievements. Relaxing, calming.
I do recommend to get it on sale (because of the short game lenght and the little replayability value).
A good way to kill an hour learning interesting historical facts about Eastern Europe dark ages, cities and tsars.

I spent money on worse things in my life before.

Не покупайте DLC, там текста на 3-4 страницы, а сама инфа такова что вопросов по ней в игре будет мало, а ответов на большинство тестовых вопросов там просто нет.
Хотите знать историю - надо читать более серьёзные материалы.
Игра дешевая и требовать от неё многого не логично, её бы на смартфон выпустить - это было бы полезнее, вместо фейсбука полистать.

Waste of money, use wikipedia instead. It is not even worth 1$. This game just keep crashing.

Indepth Historical Quiz Game that brings Quiz fun to Gaming!

I love this game! I like trivia, and anything with a bit of history and/or geography in it. So, when I saw the great price on this I grabbed it. It took about an hour and a half and numerous wiki pages and google search tabs to score an 80% because much of the info comes from detailed historical records. It seems to be reputable information, and very well put together. I found nothing amiss and enjoyed every minute of it.

This title was quite boring, even for a quiz-type game. Loving history, myths and legends couldn't make this game any more interesting. The presentation of the material was as flat and uninspired as the background graphics.

Do yourself a favour and pass on this game.

It is educational from my first impressions but it could use a bit more than just text.
