The Plot (No Spoilers):
You're Mia, a half-elf who lived in Lower District with the other humans, half-bloods, trolls, and other unwashed heathens.
Until Lord Silverlight died.
Lord Silverlight had an heir with a human woman. (Gasp! Oh for shame, Lord Silverlight!) He wrote about his daughter in his will. (You lucky, thing you! You're an heiress!) Between leaving everything to her, and having a human lover, he caused quite a scandal.
Your father's brother (also known as an Uncle) is in possession of the money until you're 21. As Mia, you currently live with said Uncle in Upper District.
Pure-blood elves, like the 2 Darkrose sisters who pick on you, look down on half-bloods...But then everyone in Upper is a needlebutt.
Except Max. He's fine. Like, da-YUM girlfriend, he fine. *mops up drool*
The story starts off with you at school, and you can romance any of the men...except the one you really WANT to...that hot and interestingly sweet teacher. Of course. Because that'd be "inappropriate". Cuz you're 17...with a birthday...next week. *huffs*
The Pro's (+) and Con's (-) :
+Achievements are easy to get.
+You can skip anything you've read before and it really does skip EVERYTHING all at once. That is a wonderful feature missing from many games. Saves clicking over and over.
+It's not hard to figure out.
+The music isn't boring, loud, or irritating.
+MC isn't your typical weak (although you can make her so) reliant personality, never is she an airhead.
+English translation is perfect.
+No sex scenes.
+There are some elements of romance, and they are adorable. But it's more a fairytale story based on life and love, with elves, magic, family and friendship.
+It runs beautifully.
+The art used is pretty, and changes instead of using the same images over and over. Sometimes between sentences the characters expressions will change ever so slightly, much like irl, and it is very lovely with the backgrounds and music. Difficult to explain, but it makes a beautiful impression and greater immersion.
+Thank you for not using any Asian imagery. It's so refreshing to see characters that don't look the same for once. That look more European, and have various skin tones.
+The characters don't all look like teenagers. And none look (or act) prepubescent.
-No steamy stuff. The writing is very tame, and it's a nice story. I personally don't see this as a minus, however some might if you're going in expecting something sexy, such as romance, seduction, or intrigue.
-There are 2 Aleister endings that're bugged and need to be turned to Russian before the last choice to get. Thanks and credit to Tch. ( See their full guide on achievements.)
Here's how to get the 2 bugged Aleister achievements:
Bad Ending- "We're too different"
1. Maybe some other time. I don't need anything right now, Lauren.
2. Hide
3. Don't say anything
4. I wouldn't say so
5. Go home this instant
6. Don't say anything
7. I won't go and see Goldstone. I'd rather explain myself to Uncle.
8. Listen in on the conversation
9. I have nothing to talk to him about. I'm not going.
10. Don't ask anything
11. I better say I was alone
12. Accept security
13. Aleister
*CHANGE LANGUAGE TO RUSSIAN NOW*
14. Complain to Aleister about his sisters-in Russian this looks something like, "Пожаловаться Алистеру сестер." Wait for this to roll through to credits (or skip if you can to credits. When credits roll you'll get the achievement.)
Turn back to English language.
Good Ending- "I'm staying with you"
1. Maybe some other time. I don't need anything right now, Lauren.
2. Hide
3. Don't say anything
4. I wouldn't say so
5. Follow the stranger
6. I better leave him alone
7. Don't say anything
8. I won't go to see Goldstone. I'd rather explain myself to Uncle
9. Listen in on the conversation
10. Hm... I wonder what he wants to talk about. I think I should go
11. Don't ask anything
12. I think I should tell the Detective the truth
13. Accept Security
14. Aleister
*CHANGE LANGUAGE TO RUSSIAN NOW*
15. Talk back to the sisters when I meet them. (Remember the last choice? "Пожаловаться Алистеру сестер?" That's the complain to sisters, pick the opposite. Wait or skip for credits to roll, then you'll get the achievement.)
Hope that helps! I give this game a big thumbs up!
I had a positive impression of this Otome game. Beautiful art, nice story. +1 for elves
I chuckled a few times) that's enough to like the game
So, good stuff: art, humor, characters, logic (in a sense choices have logical consequences)
Meh stuff: "mystery" (realized who's the murderer before he was introduced), inconsistent heroine (sometimes she makes creative decisions, but for the most of the time unapologetically stupid)
Overall, it was a good run)

The game starts slow but picks up as you go. I was hoping the killer would become integrated into the plot, and I wasn't disappointed. I just wish there was some more build-up to the romances. There was backstory with Robin, and a little bit with Alsteir, but Maximillion deserved more build-up. I think each route was written fine, but I would have liked to see Mia and Maximillion's connection develop more and see more of her interactions with Alsteir as an official couple.
A jumble of clumsy phrases and hackneyed tropes, Never Give up! comes across as a work of a budding author who is yet to polish their skills. Though the pacing or plot itself are decent, exposition is awkward and characters fail to express themselves in a believable, natural manner – at least in the English version.
And yet, while the form lacks sophistication, the substance does hold entertaining… with some generosity, perhaps even educational value: Beware of putting trust in people you do not know well. A handsome face may as well be a façade of a hideous person. Do not expect an elaborate plot with a surprising twist – whatever setup there is, its conclusion becomes increasingly easy to predict. Never give up! is a simple story – it is easy reading. There is not much else to it other than fairy-tale romances.
If one craves a short, unassuming fantasy, this novel may as well be worth a read. But personally, I would rather grab a well-written children's book.
I was finished one route for the handsome dark elf and couldn't be arsed with the other less interesting or aggressively annoying "suitors".
I add the caveat that I'm probably not the target audience being neurotic guy with little tolerance for melodrama. That said I read plenty else and neither the writing or characters surpassed my bias; actively putting me off even.
Get on sale for the handsome dark elf if you're so inclined, but you won't be missing much else if you don't.
I couldn't really get into this story or in the MC and that made it difficult to be interested at all. The MC is a half-elf who lived her life among humans. She didn't know who her father was until he passed away and left her his fortune. The catch was however that until her 18th birthday, her uncle would be the one who maintained it. She goes to live with him and his butler in his mansion and it send off to a school full of full-elves to teach her about proper etiquette.
She has a friend at this school who is also a half-elf, the rest of the class bullies her and a pair of triplets is the worst of all. 1 of the triplets is a love-interest. There's also a killer on the loose who murders only half-elves.
I first of all didn't really like the MC or the choices she made. She's late a lot, doesn't pay attention in class and despite the killer on the loose, isn't careful at all. I like it when the MC is maybe a bit more of the suffer in silence type but also strong in personality. She however lets all the insults get to her and most of the time she seems to be a mess, feeling sorry for herself and not consider anyone else's feelings in anything. She also has strong opinions about other people. Her uncle is cold and distant according to her, Wilhelm is a flirtatious player, the professor is an arrogant jerk... She might be right on all accounts but it still bugged me for some reason.
At some part in the beginning of the story you get a choice if you go and take responsibility for your mistakes by going to meet the professor or if you go home to meet your uncle instead. If you go meet the professor, she thinks up the excuse that she's in love with him and then the next day blatantly uses this excuse again. If you go meet your uncle, he finds you snooping through his things.
These weren't things I'd ever do so I couldn't really self-insert and felt the choices were very limited.
Then there's also the issue that I didn't find any of the love-interests particularly interesting. The elf is an arrogant jerk but when the MC starts to grow some backbone and talk back all of a sudden he's interested in her. The dark-elf detective feels old to me and a bit distanced. It seems wrong that she's not even 18 yet, still in school and he seems so much older. And then there's the childhood friend who seemed so very sweet that cavities would spontaneously grow. I don't mind sweet but it just felt a bit off. Like, you don't really get to know him so I didn't find any interest in him.
In all fairness though, it is a very cheap game. So for the price I'd definitely say it's worth it. The art is beautiful and I liked the small detail where if the character gets sad, their face morphs into sadness instead of just being a different picture. Good attention to detail. The story could be very interesting too, I don't know. I just wasn't interested enough in it.
I'll be brief - I enjoyed this game. And I definitely recommend it, if you're looking for something funny and simple to pass some time. Even though it's short and rather predictable, the story is still quite interesting and the art is gorgeous. It has wonderfully drawn characters and CGs, and the backgrounds are decent. The music is pleasant. For what it costs, it's more than worth it.
Cons: there's no real mystery, it's obvious right from the start who's the villain. Therefore, as such, there is no detective plot here. The second thing I didn't like - too sugar coated for my personal taste. Definitely not for someone that's looking for something deep.
Recommended for those who like a short romance, beautiful art and unpretentious plot. Goof value for money.
Never give up! is sweet OTOME game in fantasy setup with three suitors to choose from, three endings for each of them and three very bad endings. I finished the whole game in about 8-9 hours.
Pros:
+ Story, detective plot.
+ Art, from sprites to CGs.
+ Characters.
+ Price.
Cons:
- Achievement issue. You cannot get achievements for Aleister's good and bad ending in english version. Switch the language to russian before the last choice, et voilà!
The game's art is genuinely gorgeous, but I felt like the story dragged and I didn't really connect with any of the love interests. The English translation isn't so bad as to be unreadable or anything but did take me out of it a little bit.
I can see why some might like it and I don't think it's the worst VN ever but it didn't really do it for me.
The story was predictable and short, but the art was good. It seems like Mia forgets things solely to pad out the story at times. The method of getting a perfect ending is unclear as I did Robin's route and the chose to meet with him every time, but still got the good ending instead. Overall, I think it's worth the money.
This game off the bat is very confusing. The protagonist Mia, is described as being a huge scaredy-cat who is literally afraid of everything and yet, she not only stupidly chases after a potential murderer alone at night but speaks out and insults her teacher in front of her classmates. This is made even more confusing as the person who literally describes her as “a spineless wimp that can only cry in response to insults” was expecting her to speak out. I’m thoroughly impressed by her ability to be able to sass someone once and then suddenly be a master of wits though!
Further evidence of this writing style is upon meeting her friend's cousin for the first time, he is described as “flirtatious” but he doesn’t come across like that at all; in my opinion, he was merely being friendly. I very much enjoyed the term “talkative hipster” though. It really felt so out of place to call a classy, well-dressed man a “hipster”. There is also the “quiet guy who hardly ever speaks” that talks to Mia quite often.
All of this happens pretty early on too so it didn’t give me much hope for the rest of the plot.
Another problem story wise is that Mia speaks to a person for a few sentences once and then thinks things like “After getting to know so and so better, nothing they do would surprise me anymore” despite the fact that she clearly doesn’t know anything about that person still.
I felt there were a few words (mainly insults) that felt so out of place in this kind of setting; “jerk” and “loser” for instance. I don't know, it just didn’t feel right.
The murderer, at least for me, was incredibly easy to guess at who it was. I should also point out how utterly anti-climactic his demise was. It truly felt as if the writer just gave up and thought something like “Meh, whatever. This will do.”. I honestly couldn’t express how disappointed it left me feeling considering this was the part of the story that everything had been leading up to.
None of the love interests left any kind of impression on me what so ever! The fact is, none of them were around enough to form a proper bond with Mia. Very short conversations and not enough screen time aren’t particularly what a good otome should desire. If the main plot was extended on that would have given the guys a better change in my opinion.
Having said this, there were parts of the story I felt were somewhat entertaining and gave me quite a laugh, despite (or maybe because of) how utterly ridiculous the whole thing was. Mia’s meeting with her teacher for example.
The artwork, especially the backgrounds were very well done. I didn’t really notice any difference between the appearance of the pure-blooded elves and the half-blooded ones though. All the racism is literally over the fact of heritage and nothing more, which does seem to be a running theme with half-breeds in these types of settings but usually their physical features contribute to the prejudice they receive.
100% needs a proof-reader to go through the entire game! The translation is terrible and really needs a good polishing! This is probably a good time to say that I played the English version so I really can’t comment on the Russian counterpart.
Overall, I don’t care how cheap this game is, I would not recommend it to anyone!
Played Character Route Order: Aleister ◈ Maximilian ◈ Robin
Never Give Up! is a short fantasy Otome that also attempted to implement some mystery elements. Neither the story nor the writing is as good as in These Nights in Cairo, but a rigorous comparison would be quite unfair, considering that Never Give Up! is at the same time cheaper as well.
We experience the story from the POV of Mia Silverlight, and as often in OELVN's and Visual Novels that are translated from Russian to English, we are not given the choice to customize her name. Sadly, some of her elven classmates bully her because of her half-blood (half-elve, half-human) origin. You could bluntly call it racism or discrimination, which is admittedly refreshing to see. Racism and discrimination are topics that many Visual Novel developers don't dare to touch after all.

The story takes its course after we met most of the character cast. We are confronted with the main problem shortly after the prologue; someone kills half-bloods and Mia experiences at first hand how real the threat is, and she comes to the realization that her life and well-being, as a half-blood herself, are at risk.
However, it's painfully predictable who's committing these crimes after a few minutes of reading, and that's unfortunate because it completely destroys any mystery that could possibly have build up. That's the reason why I said that they attempted to implement some mystery elements since it was an utter failure. It's still a good Otome, but you may end up disappointed if you expect that you'll find yourself immersed in a deep, exciting, and mysterious plot.
The side characters are not really unique, but I totally liked the teacher and especially the amusing scenes you could get with him as long as you decided to take the chance to initiate it. Mia's uncle is, although being a side character, well-developed and I somehow felt that he had more facets to show than most of the other characters especially after finding out his secret.

We have three love interests from which I liked Aleister's route the most. I was really able to see how the affection between Mia and him develops step by step in a reasonable way. I was quite satisfied after finishing his route. He is a tease and a jerk but very likable in his own, weird way.
Maximilian, the handsome dark elf detective, is our second love interest. He investigates the case and tries to prevent any further harm from happening. Maximilian's route was good but kind of awkward sometimes, since he made such a fuss about the fact, that he is much older than Mia. Most of the story reveals in his route, and you learn more about the half-blood killer and his true intentions while trying to win Maximilian's heart.
I actually like the setting of the childhood friend, but I found myself feeling uncomfortable with the third romance option, Robin, which is also the only romanceable human. I can't put my finger on it but he radiates something strange, and I just disliked him at first sight. However, that's probably just personal antipathy as I'm not able to explain myself disliking him at all. But hey, I mean... you can romance elves! I didn't need to think about that twice, and I would like to see more elves as romance interests in Otome.

As in These Nights in Cairo, the artwork in Never Give Up! is gorgeous, and the illustrations are beautiful, detailed, and vivid. I can't spot any qualitative differences despite the different price tags. The BGM is consistent and blends perfectly within the rest of the game's premise, despite getting repetitive after some time, but that is an issue many Visual Novels are dealing with. I didn't turn the sound off to hear something else, so I'd still consider that a plus.
Never Give Up! is a neat addition to your Visual Novel library and definitely worth it if you can spare 3-4 hours. You shouldn't miss it when you are a fan of Otome. You may want to consider playing this Salamandra88 title first if you intend to play These Nights in Cairo as well, just to avoid ending up comparing both games too much with each other.

I bought this game because I wanted to buy These nights in Cairo and it was almost the same price to buy the bundle with that, this and another VN.
The artwork in this is really good, as is the soundtrack. However I really didn't like the majority of the characters, including the player, who was a massive walkover and never really developed throughout the whole thing.
The story was pretty good but really brought down by the above point regarding the characters.
I would still play other games from this developer as I really enjoyed These Nights in Cairo which shows they have really improved and refined their work.
In short, I'm not this game's target demographic. A 3/10 effort.
The good
Wonderfully drawn characters and backgrounds
Music is pleasant
The bad
Conversations are endless, and endlessly boring
There's a decent murder mystery here but it's buried under tons of mostly pointless narrative
The lead character is a complete hand-wringing drama queen
Dialogue is straight out of Sweet Valley High or some other sugar-coated teen/tween romance series
Typos and grammar issues galore
There are far better VNs out there
TL;DR : I liked the story and the characters very much, and found it to be an enjoyable read.
8/10 Stars
PROS
There are three very different love interests (all male) - a lovestruck human childhood friend, an arrogant light elf classmate, and an older dark elf detective. Characters are well developed and acted with believable motivations.
After you complete the story once, you unlock the "killer's diary", where you learn more about who the killer was and his motivations. I haven't seen anything like this in other VN games, and I felt it was a unique and valued addition to the killer's character development.
The final scene story perspective is told from the POV of the love interest, not Mia, and it gives interesting and unique insights into the character's thoughts.
The artwork was pretty and well done, and the characters changed facial expressions, eye movement, blushing, etc as they reacted to the story.
I really liked the "killer's diary" aspect of the story. It did a lot to change my impressions of him from being an amoral monster into someone who was just hopeless and desperate and pushed too far so he snapped.
Appropriate background sounds - seagulls at the park, the creaking of a door opening, etc. really help set the mood.
NEUTRAL
Music was nice and appropriate to the scenes, though since there are only 4 different songs it felt a bit repetitive and "looped" after awhile.
There were minor spelling and grammar mistakes, but it's not overly horrible for a translation.
Mages in this world seemed to be split into different specialties - elemental mages, necromancers, etc - but it's never clearly explained just what a universal mage is. Is that a mage who just hasn't chosen a specialty yet? I wish it would have been explained a bit more.
CONS
It was initially hard for me to like Mia - she is a young girl who recently lost her parents, she is having trouble adjusting to living with her uncle and going to a private school, and she is totally out of her element to deal with being stalked by a serial killer. I mostly dislike the way she lies whenever she's upset or nervous, and that's a LOT of the time. You would think with all this "practice" lying that she would be great at it, but nope - she's horrible at lying. She did become more likable as the story went on and she gained some amount of self-confidence, but she isn't a very strong female lead. Mia is a believable character, she just didn't work well for me as I prefer strong female leads to the "rescue me, damsel in distress" female leads.
It's disappointing that Professor Goldstone wasn't available as a love interest. He has such an interesting backstory, and I can see a wonderful alt story where Mia could end up with him.
For the achievement collectors: Two achievements (Aleistar's bad & normal ending) are bugged - this has been reported, and the designer blames steam/renpy for the issue - but since changing the language unlocks the achievements, I'm not convinced that is accurate. One also wonders why the issue was never fixed, if it was only a language issue?
Final Thoughts ...
Despite the weak female lead, spelling/grammar errors and bugged achievements, I really loved this VN. I would buy VN's from 7DOTS again.
This otome fantasy visual novel with romance, thriller and mystery by Salamandra88 and 7DOTS feature a half-elf girl Mia Silverlight who attends a prestigious academy with her half-elf best friend Lauren Greenhill and a pure elf Aleister Darkrose. While returning home, Mia receives a secret visit from a human admirer Robin and also happens to notice a mysterious cloaked figure. Over 4 days, Mia will be introduced to a dark elf detective Maximilian Blackwood from her uncle and guardian Ascold Silverlight who are both investigating a series of murders on half-elves and have predicted Mia will be the murderer's target next.
The game has its share of humour with witty dialogue, CGs are good and there are published community guides to help players unlock all CGs and get all achievements. On the minus side, there are 2 glitchy achievements which require reaching the game ending with the game language settings in Russian to be able to unlock them at the time of this review. Recommended for those who like a short romance and mystery visual novel featuring elves and when at discount or bundle offer as it takes less than 10 hours to unlock all CGs and get all achievements.
"Never give up!" is a very strange game for me, because I like it's setup, I like it's lore, I like all the main characters, but I really dislike the plot. This is a mystery game without any real mystery (sadly, that is a case with quite a few otome visual novels). You will probably figure out, who the killer is, during your first meeting with him and even if you won't, you will surely know before the final confrontation. There are two things that could save this game in my eyes: if it was a good thriller (it isn't and trailer pretty much spoils any "surprise" there could be) or if it was a good romance (which it also isn't, because characters simply do not have enough time to grow and develop their relationships). I think it would be much more interesting game, if the "killer" aspect was cut of completely and it would be just a magic-school life type of visual novel. There just isn't enough time, nor build-up to convey any sort of message, make you feel bad for the killer or for his victims, or even get some satisfaction from getting good endings with the guy, that you've encountered, maybe five times during the whole game.
Even for the low price, it's still a disappointment.
I had high hopes for this game, but it didn't really live up to them (please keep in mind that this is just my personal opinion).
CONS:
- The 'mystery' was incredibly predictable.
- The storyline was pretty boring and rather long-winded, and even irrelevant to the story itself, in places.
- With the exception of some side-characters and the blonde male elf (Alistair?), the characters had little personality.
- The only character I felt inclined to romance, the silver-haired teacher (who seemed interesting), wasn't even an option.
- The blonde-haired 'pureblood' elf looks and feels like a copy of Draco Malfoy, and paired with the 'half-blood' protagonist the route ends up feeling too much like a weakly-veiled Draco Malfoy/Hermione Granger fanfiction. Sadly, this unoriginal route also happens to be the most appealing romance of the three.
PROS:
- The artwork and color palette is gorgeous.
- Distinctive and appealing character designs.
- Pretty elves.
- The teacher is a hottie (I kinda dig the uncle too).
- Low price.
All in all, I feel really disappointed with this game, but for 3 bucks I guess it was worth the play.
This is a rather interesting visual novel. A bit of a mystery with fantasy elements. Mia Silverlight is a young half-elven maiden who has recently become upper class upon the death of her elven father (because elves are the upper class and humans are... not). She is currently going through a horrible time in the academy (high school) surrounded by elves who... have no love for half-bloods. To make matters worse, a serial killer has returned, one who only hunts half-elves.
There are three potential love interests: her human childhood friend, a high elf classmate (brother of two of her biggest detractors), and a dark elf detective. The achievements can be earned by getting to an ending with one of the three (the two death endings do not have achievements). Note two of the achievements for the high elf are currently... broken.
Sappy name for a game that's actually quite good. Most of my complaints about these sorts of games come from what I call "empty responses"--that is, when the protag talks, she basically says nothing. This game does not have that problem.
Pros:
-Excellent art
-"wholesome" feel--like, there's murder, but when the game was finished I just felt good about everything. This game is like a small dessert.
-Interesting world, though we see so little of it--I would love to see another game in this setting, or just an expansion of this one.
-Detective Maximilian Blackwood is the best name ever.
-Uncle is secretly a cool guy.
Cons:
-Short!
-Only the endings really change on replay
-Aleister is a -bit- of a jerk, but nothing that screams "unhealthy relationship"
When playing, keep in mind this was probably not originally written in English. The dialogue will get occasionally awkward, but never nonsensical.
10/10 would play another from this developer.
A very cool otome with a great story, albeit a bit cliche!
With 3 romanceables, great art, and some interesting worldbuilding, definitely worth the price!
Though after what happened in the story and from what I gathered in one of the endings, I was actually quite sad that you couldn't date Goldstone (the whitehaired fellow).
Theres a few grammatical errors here and there, and a few untranslated words pop up (I think about 3-4 in the entire story?) but nothing that really made the thing hard or annoying to read. For a game that's about 4 hours long, you can't expect the romance to be deeply thought out, so the pacing was appropriate.
I hope to see more visual novels from these people in the future!
This game kept me busy for a few hours and I thoroughly enjoyed it!
PROS
- Artwork; it's pretty (and has some nice CGs). There I said it. Pretty games appeal to me, especially those of the visual novel/otome variety. I can't seem to get very invested in a VN if the artwork is poor, unless the story is top-notch perfection, and then I may be swayed. Call me superficial if you will but surely the name Visual Novel means something in regards to this? (Yes I'm aware that it's about reading a story and making choices along the way.)
- Characters; I actually liked all of the characters in this game, and that's pretty rare for me- big plus that you get to romance elves... how could one resist?!. In most VNs I find a character or love interest who I take an instant disliking too and I hold that grudge for most of the game, but it didn't happen here so yay, thumbs up! I liked that the MC had enough of a backbone (albeit mainly in her head) to speak up when necessary. Nice to see in this genre if I'm honest! Could do with more like her!
- Story; Yes it was short, but I didn't mind this. I feel the story had enough content, a good easy pace and it all wrapped up nicely at the end and didn't leave me confused by events or wanting alot more from it either- and to me that's a plus. I hate being left in the dark after a game has finished.
- Price; yup, it's cheap. I'm wary of buying stupidly cheap VNs and Otome's after being disappointed in the past but this game did not disappoint in the slightest. I feel there's more content here than can be found in VNs of a similar and sometimes higher price, big plus!!
CONS
- Story; It's a little cliched/predictable. This isn't really a shock I suppose if you've played any VN's/Otome's recently. It's the way they all seem to go! The romance can come across as seeming a little rushed/forced I suppose but it's honestly not enough of a problem to put me off playing!
- Achievements; 2 of the achievements are bugged in the english version- but there is a fix, you just need to change the language to russian before the last choice in the 2 bugged routes.
[*]Trading cards/backgrounds; Not so much of a con (and nothing to do with gameplay) just that I was a little disappointed in the quality of the background art compared to the CG and in-game art quality. It seems a little blurry, as if it was the wrong file size for a background. Eh, maybe that's just my eyes?
tl;dr
Buy this game. It's pretty, cheap and kept me entertained for a bit! Also, Maximilian <3
PRO
- The artwork is nice and it's good to have a non-anime style to provide something different from most VNs.
- The very end of each route is presented to the reader from the love interest's point of view. A minor thing, but again a point of difference.
- Shortish length, but reasonable value for money (by commercial standards) due to the low price. I achieved all the 'good' (but not 'perfect') endings in about four hours.
- Two of the routes (Robin and Aleister) have obvious effects (in this alternate reality) on Mia's lifestyle and character development, rather than just being 'pick a guy with your desired personality type'. So there is at least some point in having the alternate world from .a romance point of view
CON
- I couldn't seem to get the SKIP function to work at first, I completed my first 2 routes from the same save file, in about 3 hours. I then tried a re-run attempt from scratch on Robin's route, but with slightly different choices. I wasted about 3 hours because SKIP didn't seem to work. However it seemed to work when I did Aleister's route later.
- The mystery is not that mysterious.
Pros:
Nice art
Even minor characters have unique sprites
Funny
Cute at times
Choices made earlier can be mentioned much later in game
Cons:
The romance feels a bit forced
Story is kined of predictable
A little cliche
Overall a nice simple visual novel. Short and sweet. Definitely not for someone that's looking for something deep. I would not say its great but it's not bad either. Good if you are looking for something funny and simple to pass some time. :)
