VideoPad Video Editor

This sux big time, so full of flaws, after latest update i can not use it anymore, it just puts GPU to 100% and stays there. DON'T BUY THIS!!!!

Edited a whole video, slow btw, and then when I saved it, YouTube doesn't see it as a file/

There is a LOT wrong with this. I'd highly recommend avoiding Videopad for steam. Off steam, sure, it's a solid video editor, super reliable and I've found in the past doesn't crash, but on steam? It's really bad.

- It gives you endless advertisements for other NCH products
- Updates usually don't add anything
- Updates themselves are done in software and will sometimes fail or not even register (for some reason my laptop is version 13.42 while my desktop is version 13.60-something, installed on the same day as well)
- Doesn't have the bells and whistles you'd expect from a high end video editor like automatic object tracking or a could masking system for VFX.
- This is a straight port of the version offered on their website. That means THE LICENSE RUNS OUT with no way to fix it.

Generally, if you have something you need a reliable software for, Videopad is probably the way to go, but for it's incredible incredible reliability it suffers in too many other areas for me to recommend, which sucks since this is literally the software I learnt to edit videos with while in university and highschool. Back then in like 2017 I would have said this was a deal, now I'd say wait for the off chance it costs $40 or less.

You can't change the preview quality? Are you f__king kidding me? So yeah, editing videos with large resolutions is basically useless.

The UI is a damn mess and adding certain media to the timeline will randomly change the project resolution.

I love how easy it is to use to edit a video and make it look old! I've been considering trying to make analog horror of my own, and this is the ideal program to edit the footage!

While it isn't complete garbage, it's extremely slow with larger projects, has many odd limitations that seem completely pointless, and experiences constant bugs.
I'm not going to go into specific bugs because over the few years I've had it there have been a ton, some which get patched, some which get patched and come back later anyways, some which never go away. If I wrote anything specific I'd pretty much have to revise the review every month.

All in all... Just spend your money somewhere else.

Really easy and versatile editor at a bargain price. Highly recommend for all intermediate film makers!

So i thought i wouldn't be doing this for along time reviewing recording device. Editing etc etc. But i had really good time with videopad edit my videos and get the clips out linky~spilt. I had no problems with it. Smooth and tools are so easy too use even providing help or adding text, sound board on some of the areas even giving help or tips with right idea on how to add extra too your clip. But how with new update and failed secure areas from the new up date cant up load my videos no more or even on youtube because of google. So be aware of am going to be looking for something else too download and edit my videos.

I've owned the full version of video pad for 2 years now then when i open it up it was on a white editing plane which i thought was weird then offered me the full version which is the normal version so now i'm stuck using a downgraded system when i bought the full one ???? i tried to report this on steam and Videopad was decent system the developers are just scammers

Great basic piece of software to edit videos with. Incredibly easy to teach yourself how to use!

After using this product for a while, I find that it works well for my needs. The negative review I posted earlier was for an earlier version of VideoPad that seemed to have a lot of bugs in it. I like what it has, though I wish it had more. All in all, good program for the money.

This is a fairly straightforward non-linear video editor, and one that I have been using for the past 5 years to edit videos for my youtube channel.

It lets you do all the important things, manage transitions, play around with layers, etc.

The upload to YouTube feature is janky at best, and there are not user accessible logs to find out what goes wrong when errors occur, but it also is a one time purchase and relatively cheap as far as video editors go.

2020-04-29: They have indeed fixed it.

2020-04-28: For some reason they have replaced the current version with one that is several years old. Hopefully they will fix this.

Okay, I will get straight to the point.

Recently, there is something wrong my VideoPad. When I tried to continue my project, it seems like my VideoPad's appearance suddenly "turned".

Can somebody what the heck is going on with my VideoPad? Did somebody else had this experience? Is the a bug or something?

I love this software, I honestly do. But I am so sick and tired of having to email and contact devs for ENDLESS bugs and glitches. I cannot recommend this program if every single day there is a new problem. It is not my job to have to email devs about every little issue that comes up! The latest one being the preview glitching when I try to edit vertical videos

This is the point where I now move over to Premier Pro. This dev team is clearly too focused on their Mac releases and additional software to give a shit about the Steam version. If you didn't want it on Steam, why did you put it here?

I've been using this software for 4+ years now and I'm quite tired of launching it just to find another problem with the latest release. When you guys have a stable version that's out, I might consider coming back.

VideoPad, is a video file editor, used to edit video files.

I can recommend something like this. VideoPad is fun to play around with. Especially if you have never used a video editor before. I also liked how the colours matched to the Steam interface. The interface is well done; functional and easy to use.

I'm not sure what more to say. I am no expert. But something like this seems very useful.

I use this to edit small and short videos. Works on most video format, including .webm and .mkv so you dont need to convert. I Recommend this for light editing only as this cannot handle heavy edits. Less complicated and user friendly, interface is pretty linear, good for beginner and new users alike.

VideoPad useful if you got low spec PC that doesn't have dedicated GPU. But if your PC does have dedicated GPU, I suggest you to pick another options since this software doesn't have functionality that use GPU when doing the rendering. Also this software is painfully slow.

The idea and how it's set up to work in favor with the user is absolutely perfect. Although it functions like absolute dogshit. Not even going back in versions saves it. If you have a problem with the modern version, going back several updates will likely fix it, but break something else important. These "breaks" can range from the preview completely shutting off and not returning until you've restarted the whole program, clips refusing to buffer despite it saying it's fully buffered and repeatedly replaying the same .5 second bit of your clip, loading in an already exported video to make minor adjustments only for half of the video to be randomly cut out unable to recover it, audio nowhere near aligned with the video until you cut the video which for some reason fixes it, the preview freezing on 1 random frame and not even restarting the program fixes it, exporting always gets stuck at 32.6% and never doing anything else, exporting in 4K is nearly impossible as often times the final video is completely black, flashes and goes completely green in parts of the video, or is stuck on a single frame. Every other resolution is perfectly fine, but 4K specifically is just not an option, I can barely even get it to export normally without it reaching some point and refusing to go .05 seconds every minute, recording audio straight onto videopad isn't worth it because it will always be mono for some reason. I have to record via OBS first and then put it into the software to edit it. You can't even do something as simple as take a short 60fps video and reduce the framerate to 30. It always stays at 59.94 or something you didn't tell it to export as, clips taking centuries to buffer and be able to preview, despite the many times the file has been opened, there is absolutely 0 communication on updates and other ways the devs screw up things that were working just fine, the tutorials that I should NOT have to go to for help are SEVERAL years out of date, clips being scrambled and a completely different video is in the place of another that have absolutely zero connection with each other, and the timeline needle completely freezes and I doesn't load ANY preview, but still plays audio. This is a great software. The only editing software I've had to use and it's been great, but the developers do not care about functionality. Hilariously, they still have the balls to call it a "professional video editing software". No matter what newer version comes out, there's always a myriad of problems with it. A lot are still unfixed from the previous versions. I really love this software and would hate for it to always be filled with bugs, but that's exactly what it is and has been for years. This is the worst software to edit videos, don't get it thinking it'll be easy to learn because no matter how much you know about it, you will not be able to work like a normal person because of how dysfunctional this garbage is. I've even emailed the people themselves about issues. They gave the most retarded and unprofessional response of "yeah just uninstall and reinstall it." Like I'm back in middle school where the computer teacher doesn't care, or possibly know, much about computers at all and always goes for restarting.

A nice simple Video Editor Software.
Doesn't scare people who are new to video editing, and quite simple to use. It's basically just drag and drop video editing software, which makes it easy and takes less time than many other video editor software.

I'm getting older and feel lazier each days passed, so I prefer the program that is easy to use.
I bought this along with Sony Vegas Pro, but I use Video Pad more often for light video.

The menu is right there, everything you need is just a right click. After updating, I think it is more easier to use.
Love it.

As a piece of software its great, or else I wouldnt use it for so many hours.

I think the main thing that attracts me to this is the simplicity of using it, now to discuss a few things that I dont like and that is the developer, at times, hence why they keep reverting the version to a long forgotten version, a version that I was using while still being in college. I dont know why, but you can fix this by going into Videopad properties from steam and opt for an older version/beta version.

Keeps improving the software and add more and more features , most notable for me recently being able to add gifs , before I had to convert gifs to mp4 so that's one less chore.

It does have some bugs and other bad updates but overall they tend to update things in a reasonable amount of time and while not perfect I can say for sure that it does a better job than most companies when it comes to bug fixes.
