Key features
- AI does some weird voodoo driving stuff,
- Career has different modes and racing environments,
[*]You can do stunts!
Reflex > Encore
I played Reflex after Supercross Encore and I enjoyed a lot more - better tracks, more forgiving physics, shorter championships. A lot of driving happens outdoor and most of events last literally a few minutes. Not a snooze fest at a stadium like it was in Encore.

AI is not impressive and may become annoying - it frequently lands on your driver, resulting in your crash. It may lose control and just flew off a road, bashing you along the way. Gets even worse during buggy events, those vehicles just can't race at all!
Nice mini challenges and other modes
Another thing(s) I liked in Reflex were separated stunts competitions - you get a massive open area with ramps, all for your experiments and joy.
Plus, there are checkpoints hunt, hill climbs and timed trials. Not really challenging, but may require a few replay to find an optimal route. Very nice indeed!

Back when games were made with love
best mx vs atv
Great in the sense of freestyle / arcade and that is it. Unless your in fifth gear all the time, you will case every single jump. No tempo / rhythm to this game. Definitely not a sim at all.
Just put some cool early 2010s songs and rock on my guy
TOP
Best motocross game
Best mx game ever made. Still yet to be topped, been playing since day one.
gud gam i rekomend
I was on the hunt for a Motorstorm substitute, and many recommended the MX vs. ATV series, particularly Reflex and All Out. After playing both, I’m here to tell you why Reflex is the better of the two and why it’s worth trying.
Optimization: I planned to play on the Steam Deck, so optimization was crucial. Reflex runs perfectly on it, with only minor, easily fixable control issues. All Out, however, only delivered a good frame rate on the lowest settings, which not only looked subpar but also felt lackluster.
Monetization: Reflex is a one-time purchase and costs half as much as All Out (at least in my regional prices). Plus, it doesn’t bombard you with microtransactions. Personally, I find it off-putting to see locked DLC tracks or bikes in the regular selection menus, which is a frequent occurrence in All Out.
Vehicle Handling and Controls: While All Out’s controls are more responsive and forgiving, this comes at the cost of the rewarding challenge that Reflex offers. In Reflex, you feel every bump and groove under your wheels, and one careless turn or bump can send you flying. All Out lets you make the tightest turns and land from great heights without consequence, which feels less satisfying. Admittedly, Reflex has its downsides, like ragdolling from the slightest contact with opponents or terrain, but overall, it offers a more rewarding and fun experience.
Variety: All Out only features three types of vehicles - MXs, ATVs, and UTVs - while Reflex includes additional vehicle types like buggies and trucks. Even though these additional vehicles don’t have a lot of variety or customization options, they still bring significant diversity to the game, especially in the Omnicross mode, where all vehicle types compete on the same track. This mode comes closest to the Motorstorm experience and is a lot of fun. The tracks in Reflex are also more varied, offering different “biomes” and unique layouts, while those in All Out tend to feel repetitive.
Visual Style: This might be a matter of personal preference, but I feel that All Out lost much of its identity when it transitioned to Unreal Engine. It now feels somewhat bland, like many other Unreal Engine games, with an uninspired UI, a generic open world, and the intrusive microtransaction system. In contrast, Reflex hits a sweet spot in terms of graphical fidelity, looking just good enough while running smoothly, all with a beautiful and cohesive style.
Music: Again, this is subjective, but while I’m not a huge fan of the music in either game, the soundtrack in Reflex fits the sport’s vibe better and even has a few tracks I enjoyed.
Lastly, I’m not sure about All Out, but Reflex still has an active online community, which is great. However, be prepared to get wrecked by seasoned players who have likely been playing nonstop for years 😂
In conclusion, Reflex feels like a more feature-complete and cohesive game, where almost every aspect works in harmony. All Out, on the other hand, feels more like a sandbox where you entertain yourself. I recommend starting with Reflex, and if you’re interested in exploring more, consider looking at older titles like Unleashed instead of newer releases (that probably what i will do next).
