NITE Team 4 - Military Hacking Division

Strikes a perfect balance between fun and "hacking" simulator. No, you won't learn anything real world other than basic methodology. If you want that, you shouldn't be playing a game. Hack the Box, Try Hack Me, etc is what you want.
If you want a very well made pseudo-hacker puzzle game, this is well worth your time. My playtime is a bit exaggerated from leaving the game running wile not at my PC.
I am hoping they make more content for this or a sequel as most hacking style games are poorly made, overly simple, filled with bugs , and not very fun.

8/10 Tutorial was fun, customisation is a big positive. I am slowly going through the story. Wish there was a PvP mode or open world where anything is free-game, not sure how long I will last on bounties and such.

A challenging game, especially for someone who hasn't played these types of games before.

You will need to learn the IT world terminology, use external information to learn & to progress in this game.

If you get stuck on every single mission, that is the reality of this game. Learn, do research, test things out. Repeat until successful.

The puzzles are decently challenging and the game play feels rewarding for getting stuff right. It also teaches you about real life applications and scenarios that have occurred. One of the best 'hacking' sims on the market - a modern take on the joy I had playing 'Uplink'

best hacking game besides hacknet

I accidentally hit 'new game' a while ago and got really depressed about it. But I recently went back into the game. Despite the login sometimes not wanting to recognize me, I really enjoy this game. It's not just 'hacking' it has an overarching story. And it connects to the other games by this dev which is a very bold move considering there are apparently three of them that connect to each other and none of them play the same way at all.

Really enjoy the gameplay even if I keep forgetting what command does what.

An interesting concept but didn't really follow through. It's a nation state threat actor simulator, pitched as a much more realistic and modern version of something like Uplink, but buggy missions and rather silly plot escalations fail to hit the mark.

This game has a lot of problems, and I mean a lot of problems. It starts off alright, with you learning the basics of what is, to my understanding an actually reasonable accurate depiction of hacking, albeit with a much slicker UI, more user friendly and way less actual work. The story is... fine, mildly interesting spy thriller with decent enough voice acting.

Then it gets awful, they try and get fancy with cryptography and puzzles and it just doesn't work.

Then we hit what I would describe as peak Nite Team 4, hacking into various companies, using every tool you have access to, a bunch of targets, it's super fun, super engaging and easily the best part of the whole experience.

Then, things take a dive again. While not as frustrating as the cryptography and connection guesswork minigame, it's just not very interesting. You're slowly losing access to various features and all thats left is trial and error with what little you have left until you find the next step, lose even more access, rinse and repeat. Then the final end sequence which is just... so boring.

There's a core of a good game here, if they'd just focused on the actual hacking, adding more complexity and options there, deeper rabbit holes to follow down, this could have been incredible, but as it is, I can't recommend this game, especially for the price.

I wanted to like this, but literally the second fucking tutorial mission is broken and the fucking 38 asstitude and -77 dickitude does not register. Reinstall? Doesn't work, full restart? doesn't work. I hope it all burns down in a blaze of not-glory

this is arguably the magnum opus of hacking games. despite the community and developers fading out, the solo experience is so worth it and will leave you educated.

While I had high hopes for NT4, the game itself has severely let me down. The tutorial missions are alright, some bad voice acting here and there. But then the main story missions open up and you expect more. The plot is......okay? Nothing to write home about. But then stuff gets shoehorned in and a LOT of the "playback" parts have almost nothing to do with the plot and contain some of the worst voice acting I've heard. Plus, the ending just...ends the game? And when the DLC comes in, there's no bridge between the two. Not to mention this game is SEVERE abandonware. Barely anyone talks about it, hardly any guides or community posts you can find easily. Oh also, this is a DLC-required 100% game, so if you hate paying to 100% games, good luck. 5/10

Often had to reboot game multiple times because UI would not recognize clicks/ verify solutions even if it was correct. Really frustrating.

Very immersive Military/Government Hacking Sim. Does a fantastic job at easily explaining its systems. Yes it can be quite complex but the tutorials are actually simultaneously extensive, and easy to digest. it achieves this by keeping the Tutorials broken up into tiny segments easily achievable within a few short minutes each.

I see a couple recent reviews copy-pasted exactly, talking about some issue with a tutorial mission. I just restarted the game and played through the tutorial no issue.

It's a fun puzzle game/investigation puzzler using some real, some not, some hollywood'd up, hacking tools and techniques. You're basically playing as a cyberintelligence operative and you do hacker stuff to whomever you're told

I am not a hacker, and I know nothing about real hacking, but I feel like a hacker when I play this game.

Too many UI frustrations to count. Gameplay is completely unintuitive, and not in a fun way. I really, really, really wanted to like this game, especially as a long-time Uplink fan. But this just isn't in a state where I can recommend it.

Super immersive game play
Does take some time to get the correct sequence of tools to be used in the game but that it what Cadet Training is for. If you played Uplink, this is its very grown up Big Brother.

This is the first hacking game I've played. I wish we could get the next operation already- It's been like, 2 years since it was promised, and less than that since it was retracted for some reason-
