Interesting concept, still lacks a lot of clarity in both :
- How the game works (progression, objectives, overall flow of a run..)
- How you're supposed to play it (Are you against the clock ? Do you need/should horde stuff ? Is it a mix of both ?)
Gooj
Really fun shooter, I dig the movement a lot. The levels do feel a bit drab and boring to explore BUT going off the developer's recent post he is addressing this in the final update!
Glad to see this game doing well and can't wait to see what comes of the final update.
Nice. i like.
Fast shooter w/ satisfying guns.
this game genuinely has some of the best movement in any game i've ever played and i actively look for movement focused games to play
i haven't played much recently since i did basically everything in the latest update and now i'm just waiting for the next update which should be the full release
if i had one complaint to make it's that a lot of the curses were changed in the currently latest update and now most of them have a downside of you taking more damage with a few exceptions and one of those has you lose health
it leads to curses pretty much only making sense for a glass cannon build and it makes things a little less interesting but the game is still very fun
Dev is awesome
GTTOD is an AWESOME game. It's fast, flashy, and an amazing experience to play. The amount of run customizability available is really great. The guns all feel unique, satisfying, and properly chunky to shoot. The modifiers are a great way to keep things interesting in the run, my favourite being the one that rerolls your guns every so often. The speed is intoxicating, especially when you choose the run modifier that removes all enemies and just lets you run around every level. THE MUSIC! Omg the music in this game is awesome, every single track gives the perfect vibe for the game. Please, if you're even *somewhat* interested, pick this game up, I promise you won't regret it.
when the optimal way to kill 90% of enemies in the level is to walk backwards and hold down mouse1 you start to wonder why the parkour is even in here. sure you do a lot of it in area traversal but it doesnt do much in combat, just makes it so you dont take damage from enemies, and imo most games are fun when you are barely dodging obstacles and enemies and what not. when negating all possibilities of getting damaged its just not as fun as it could be.
Me see titanfall 2 me want more
Me see roguelikes me want guns
Me see pretty lights me likey
Me see GTTOD me happy
having me open chests/bunkers with Keys and then Pay with shards ,which are very hard to come by, for the Contents that i didnt even know beforhand is wild to me. Also i feel like this Game does a very very Bad Job at explaining how it works exactly. A lot of things i see currently just feel alot worse than earlier iterations of the Game.
This is an awesome Movement Shooter! I like how it feels to run and jump around on walls, the movement feels great. The gunplay is also really fun and feels good, I like the different types of weapons that we get to play with. Solid game and definitely worth the buy. Can't wait until the 1.0 release! The only thing that I'm not particularly stoked about is the level layouts. Sometimes I get turned around and forget that there is a scanner that shows you the objective. But then I remember the scanner and continue on haha.
YOU CAN FUCKING DO BACKFLIPS
tho ist good game for thy player is like is titanfall, roboquest, and halo had a baby
hell yeah dude
I bought the early access of this game back when everybody was hungry for more titanfall-like gameplay, and i installed it every once in a while ever since to check on development progress, back than I didn't play much and truly felt like an incomplete game, nowadays though, the game feels a lot closer to completed than ever, there's tons of interesting perks to pick up with positive and negative effects, cool weapons (that can be dual wielded in most cases), the movement is super fun, and the bosses truly push you to play smarter. If you like rogue-likes and movement shooters, check it out, i'ts an interesting combination of concepts, can't wait to see where the dev takes this project to
Game is already fun and seems like its getting even better. If you like titanfall 2 movement there is no reason you should not play this game imo.
This game tickles an itch
I never played Titanfall but I grew up playing games like Advanced Warfare and Black ops 3, this game in no means is multiplayer but it includes high quality movement as a core element of this rougelite gameplay loop.
It has high quality guns and a visual style that is distinctive (and great since I have trouble with seeing things in some games)
This game is very fast pace at higher difficulties and will challenge the player, encouraging them to constantly seek upgrades to increase their level and survivability, various upgrades can be found throughout the levels and at the end of them, along with more permanent ones in the spawn area of the game.
The repetition along with constant challenge is very addicting.
Currently there isn't much of a tutorial or explanation for certain items or mechanics, hopefully that gets fixed in the future, would recommend joining the discord for help and guides on what things do.
In all honesty I like to play this game inbetween classes, the game can be put down and picked back up very easily, great for when I need to fill my FPS itch on a schedule.
its
I usually say something silly in my reviews on games but I actually like the game a lot and I want the creator to succeed.
I'll go over whatever I do like and what I would add and or change.
What I do Like
-The fast paced titanfall like movement
-Alt firing modes and styles on many many guns
-Settings to make the game easier or harder (Like aim assist and wall magnetism) it lets anyone's skill style play
-The designs of basically everything. I'll write a bit about this
A lot of this game has artistic deigns of other games. Ranging from Halo to Doom. The Sci-fi, Neon, Retrowave style grows on me more and more. Before this game I found it to be a tacky look. But as I inspected some of these familiar weapons that call back to their roots of inspiration, In this style, I've began to enjoy it.
What I Would Change/Add
-I think one of the biggest things I would add is the ability to backpack reload (Have unequipped weapons reload passively).
The traditional reload in hand feels a bit slow and almost out of pace compared to the movement.
-Next I personally would add more soundtracks to the game. Maybe a new soundtrack every level. It might be a bit of work but it would help make levels less boring and more unique.
-This seems out of place but some sort of way to customise a starting loadout. This way starts are easier and more consistent for peoples play styles. I find getting magnum is amazing but as soon as I see the ninja stars I know I have to find grenades
-Speaking of grenades. I think some utility could get a bit of some changes. Some balancing could be useful. I find throwing thermite grenades and the AOE is slow and small. The Ninja stars could use a little more damage as there's no AOE and so on
Personally this game is basically everything I would enjoy in a rogue like. I recommend this game to others and I've gotten a few friends to get it just by showing gameplay.
How fast can you go? How fast can you push your self? Are your aiming skills good? Are you the best in your friend group at snipping? Yeah, you think your good until you step foot into the shattered. Spatial awareness is key and if you miss that shot chances are your dead. Every FPS player has craved this game without knowing it. This game grinds you up and spits you out. When its done with you, the line between mouse and keyboard will actually be visible. After playing this people will ask for your secret. So please share the word. Give this dude that made this some love. He has put a lot into this just so you can go through boot camp. Just GTTOD.
yes
get to the purple door more like! wait what? what do i mean im colorblind?
Game is fun. Brain off, dopamine on. I've followed it through several stages of development, each time popping on to try the new things or see what was changed/removed. I've held out for 1.0 to really dig my teeth into it. That being said, if you want to jump around, go fast, hit things, and have it all feel really satisfying and fluid this was a solid choice three years ago and keeps getting better. The dev takes a lot of care to make updates based on feedback and it feels like the community around the game has helped shape what it it.
get to the exit menu and play a better game
BALLER
to get what i dislike out of the way, the level design is great but not incredible but can get a little boring at times, however i do believe that the developer is working on it.
the artstyle and gun design is INCREDIBLE and i can TASTE the the effort put into the animations.
with some improvements this could be a 10/10 peak indie game.
a disjointed and messy experience.
the game tries to be many things at once and it doesn't shine in any of it.
a half-assed roguelite system
fishing (cause every game needs it for some reason)
a movement system that got worse as the game kept getting updated
stuff not being explained to the player on how they should progress or an in-depth in game guide
enemy recognition: you cant tell which enemy you should shoot first when you're flying all over the place because everything is black and neon bright which leads you to dying more often than you should've. bosses are also pretty lackluster.
movement system: sticks and stones felt good and snappy. after trying out the recent update it felt night and day. it's slow, floaty and has no weight or momentum behind it.
hit detection: i've had this happen a couple times where i just randomly get hit and die for no reason. pretty annoying
level design: stop and go. it doesn't flow well if you're blasting enemies and the next second you're hunting for a goofy aah key for a bunker just to upgrade your gun for example.
weapons: either they're balls or they are just alright. melees suck a lot and it just ends up with you restarting the run if you even dare try to go melee only (atleast in my experience, feel free to correct me). atleast the animations are pretty good. wish the same could be said about the next point.
art style: again, since everything is black and neon the only way to describe it is colour vomit. everything blends into each other and in general it's just painful to look at after a while.
soundtrack: it's alright. nothing amazing just alright. sticks and stones had a better roster of songs but he had to remove those cause of copyright as far as i know but this is entirely subjective.
i know i brought up sticks and stones and yes i could just play that version instead of the latest but the game could be so much more but it's held back by a dev who doesn't know what to do with his own game.
smoke less and play this game more, F******** god this game is fantastic its a great looter shooter and its great for random tick tock videos (subway surfers), I just wished there was more direction, like theres a few things that I got to figure out as I played which for a rougue-like is CREAM, but it leads to a lot of runs ending without figuring it out what the item was or how to use it, I love this game and the devs, I need more please, this is one of my favorite games, and like generation zero anytime im playing it and somebody else watches, THEY LOVE IT (im in college so i got people coiming over almost everyday), and lemme tell you this, I have had no one complain about this game, everytime I hear something its talking about how neon it is and how cool it looks, thats about it. Nothing negative Also to the man that harrased the dev for a too long of a time TOUCH SOME GRASS, YOU ABSOLUTE TROG let the man cook up some games, your comments aint doing none of that, and for the rest of the community......................block jugernaut, and recommend this game to someone who likes roguelikes its fantastic
When I first tried this game, I bounced off it pretty hard - it was long enough ago now that I'm not sure what the issue was and at this point it doesn't matter. Since I picked it up again I haven't been able to put it down.
At GTTOD's core is unbelievably fast-paced action driven by some of the punchiest gunplay I've ever felt coupled with an extremely liberating and flexible movement model reminiscent of that in Titanfall. It's an extremely demanding game, situations can go bad very, very quickly, but you do have the tools to recover and overcome - you just need to learn to use them.
On a number of levels, GTTOD has a lot in common with Witchfire - punchy gunplay, highly satisfying when played correctly, high skill floor but also a high skill ceiling. And like Witchfire, I have advice for anyone who's just picked up this game and finds it too hard, or doesn't get it: set it to easy, give it a couple of hours, and see how you feel after. GTTOD is absolutely worth a little investment.
Very cool roguelite kinda shooter game really fun and each update is massive
It is hard at first but if you train you get good and its more fun
GTTOD is an absolutely fantastic game and even though I haven't had it for very long I see the effort that the developer has put into it. The movement system in this game is amazing the guns are very fun to use and some of the items can be a lot of fun. I've heard a lot of negativity surrounding this game but to me personally this game is amazing and it is even more amazing that its being made by like one guy. If you are considering buying this game I really hope you do because I know you have a good time. I personally cannot wait for the final update to drop!
ADHD simulator
lot of adrenaline
big yum
I love very much thanks
fun fast paced rougelike
This game is really good.
Pros:
Fast paced combat
Great neon design (both maps and enemies)
Wide range of gear
Interesting mechanics
Cons:
Soundtracks can get a bit repetitive
Personally for me the sometimes game gets somewhat chaotic
In the beginning gear can be a hit or a miss
Overall totally recommend.
An honestly amazing game with a lot of passion behind it, gameplay flows well and the weaponry is great, keep up the good work! <3
Cant skip cutscene
GOOD game, heavily recommend, but wish the shield system and overwhelming enemy count/aggressiveness didn't encourage cowardice
some kind of way to build shield while IN combat and not being penalized for not being able to dodge the 3 thousand attacks coming your way would be an immediate boost to this game being way more fun
as soon as i can stay in combat and not be pushed towards hiding until my shield is back it's getting an even higher recommend
Blade Sentinel drops my FPS to 9. I can run Sons Of The Forest better than that. Good game tho
look i haven'y played nearly enough for anyone to read this as a "valid" review but just look into it more. this game seems to give people mixed sights about what this game is and to tell you the truth i don't completely understand it myself but i can tell you i played it after launch and played it again just not too long ago and fuck me has this dev done some amazing work and improvements. no i didn't play through the whole "development" stage and so i don't know the ins and outs of the pros and cons but what i can say is that the dev does not need nor deserve the shit people are giving them. now i'm not going to sit her and try to know why they do what they do but i do know that if it's working for the dev then everyone else can fuck off. Yes the players are the customers but if you don't like it now, instead of giving the dev shit for something you don't find to your liking. other give him some insight (KINDLY) about the "issues" or don't touch it and let the man cook. this game now is at a good standpoint and as i said previously....major improvements and progression.
I will keep it at this though, STOP giving devs hate especially ones that aren't AAA. we had the AAA era of gaming and that was peak but now we are in the era of small group if not individual game developers that're trying to bring their ideas into the gaming world and for someone doing this. they've done fucking amazing.
cool but combat is kind of boring after a while, ill change review when dev changes it up, but movement is cool. I feel like holstered weapons should get automatically reloaded after a while, its annoying after a fight to like reload for a year
This game just feels great - its movement feels crisp when you get the hang of it and the weapons have that cool sci-fi look to them with some getting even better when you pack a punch [ish] them resulting in the colour shifting and in some cases the entire weapon e.g the double barrel getting another 2 barrels and getting a grappling hook (a neat doom eternal reference). The progression is enjoyable enough once you get into it but my main issue of the game is actually learning some of the systems ( but its still in beta so you never know).
Its a graphically great game which is just generally a fun play even if you dont play it for too long - its worth a go :)
There is a guy who keeps haunting the store page and forums all over a personal grudge against the developer. Beware the reviews from private profiles with 0.2 hours playtime and a link to a screenshot lmao
Other than that, the game is great. Early access this and that but I have the patience to wait for the singular developer to finish his project. Level design is on the boring side but this has already been addressed in the latest update news. Movement is fast and smooth, the animations for the guns all look amazing. Super loving the music too, really hoping that we get more of that with the 1.0 update. Rogue-like features are all there, with permanent upgrades to basically every stat, together with game modifiers of course.
If you like fast-paced shooters, and especially rogue-likes, I highly recommend trying the demo. You can tell early on if this game ticks your boxes or not.
And to Andrew, keep your chin up my guy. A majority of this community is supporting your work, and we are looking forward to the 1.0 release.
Stay safe traveller.
Amazing game, having played it on and off for about 3 years now i'm blown away with how much it has changed and improved. very satisfying to play 10/10
go fast. gun cool. monkey brain like. game good.
Terrible hit detection, lousy movement and suck roguelite elements, unfair combat, and those damn glitches!
But the real problem is how the developer and his community treat the actual customers!
https://imgur.com/a/true-face-of-gttod-dev-QuRA1Pg
Just Wow. Amazing game.
You'd rather buy another worthy game.
First off, not a boomer shooter. I don't know where you got that but nonetheless, not a boomer shooter.
This game fills a Titanfall 3 shaped hole in my soul and it does it damn well, the movement is smooth and fast. that is probably the main appeal. Although levels and enemies feel quite lacking, that stuff is actually being addressed. If you enjoyed Titanfall then you'll love this (probably) if you like boomer shooters you won't, because it isn't one.
I RARELY leave reviews, ever... It deserves more positive vibes out for this game after hearing recent news tho. The games good! A very fun time! The music goes hard! Gunplay is satisfying! High Replayability! Clearly a passion project for a single dev or small team taking inspiration from some of their favorite games. <3
Generally not a fan of the feel or flow. This game has been in EA too long, and it's obvious. Feels like something I would have played 10+ years ago, but at this point is moot. If it would have stuck to it's original scope and feel, and just saw it through, it'd be fine. But at this point the game has no clue what it wants to be and is a mishmash of ideas.
And after poking around, it seems like this is a solo-dev project, which explains it. Plenty of "Developer Comments" arguing with reviews about design choices, asking for "correct" reviews on the Discord, etc. Not a great look.
Very fun movement shooter with a lot going for it! I have been keeping up with the development of this game and have seen it evolve over the years, and its come so far since the EA launch. The movement is a TON of fun, flying around the map at mach 10 while gunning down what are essentially the Covenant from Halo but neon. My biggest gripe with the game is that the level design is quite sparse with not much happening, but that is getting a major overhaul in the 1.0 release, which I am incredibly hyped for! The movement in particular is seriously some of the most fun out of all the movement shooters I've played.
