look if youre gazing into the review section for this game you probably already know if you want to bother with this or not and the answer is statistically going to be leaning towards "or not". official tetris games exist plentifully on modern systems with steam itself having at least three different options. to me there are two possible demographics this serves today; (1) is people who are looking for a cheap "why not" game or are such cheapskates they dont want official tetris games cos they dont go as cheap as this one, and (2) is weirdos who enjoy playing crusty janky copycats and adjacent games.
my review is for my people, the folks in category 2. now lemme tell ya. this one? this one is pretty dang solid. music is lacking, theres only really one track youll hear, but its pleasant and loops seamlessly as well. visuals are honestly rather pretty, and the voice over lady sounds bored out of her mind in a rather amusing way. as for the gameplay, it's rather unique in that you have dpad left right for movement, a button to hard drop (yes really) and x button to rotate clockwise; no anticlockwise rotation. the movement is pretty choppy and makes playing at the higher speeds actively difficult, the scoring noise is obnoxious and will quickly get on your nerves, the new shaped pieces are honestly rather welcome save for the dreaded + piece (which is thankfully rather rare and seems to come up as a curveball more than anything) and the pieces themselves lock in rather quickly, again hindering that high speed gameplay. i also noted that theres no wallkicking (why would there be, its not using SRS) or t-spinning (sad) but there is an odd lenience towards s-piece spinning for some reason and i have definitely performed what i would loosely call an "s-spin" type move once whilst playing. all in all, its a mildly interesting and largely solid tetris copy that i dont really have much to complain about.
outside of endless/marathon mode theres a puzzle "clear all the coloured blocks" mode which gives you star ratings based on how long it takes you and seems frankly annoying to get 3 star clears on if only because of the rng of pieces and how clunky the movement is in general, and a challenge mode where it asks you to clear an increasing amount of lines with a steadily decreasing time limit. neither of em are really worth bothering with unless you really wanna go for those cheevos.
given i picked this up for the very Nice (tm) price of 69p on sale i aint fussing at all, i got my moneys worth from it very quickly. dont advise getting it when its not on sale tho, tis rather pricy at rrp. jank enjoyers will very much be pleased, i've played far worse clones on ps2.

If you like I, used to play Tetris on the Gameboy and just use the arrow keys, you will like this game.
If you don't know that you can use the down arrow to make the block go down faster, you will probably get board and not like it; that said after reading this you will probably feel like a - or something like that.
As for the Up arrow it makes the block rotate.
The new block variations compared to the standard Tetris blocks makes for different style/spin on the game. I love that yo can still move some of the blocks in hard to reach areas, and the single block can be used to correct some (not all) mistakes. (Unless it has the function I just thought it might be able to do and will have to double check later; if flashing can phase through other blocks to fill a gap)
The puzzle option gives another level of gameplay from the traditional version of Tetris, and opens the game to more variations of gameplay. It would be nice if there was another version that incorporated the puzzle version with the standard version. (For example, it starts with a puzzles and keeps letting you continue, keep racking up points and levels; which are kept and loaded on a global scoreboard; for each puzzle start)
unoffical tetris with quirky new tetraminos which make it both more and less casual, its.... strange
Like Tetris, which is probably expected. This isn't a 'clone' though. Includes singles, doubles, 3 segment lines and corners. The color of your lines also slightly matters. Features multiplayer, endless, and arcade.
- Game blasts at full volume and in settings you can only turn on/off sounds and music, there's no option to just lower the volume.
- Input lag, if you mash buttons too fast for the game, it just ignores some of them - I want to emphasize, that the "too fast" is not that fast at all, so everyone will experience that.
- When the speed increases, the blocks skip some levels on the grid, so after spawning a block, the first movement is +3 levels ahead, not just faster movement +1 +1 +1, it makes it harder to place the falling blocks precisely.
- The interface makes it hard to actually see where the blocks are being placed, it's wayyy too flashy to make it clear where is what on the grid.
This Tetris ripoff is very, very lacking and I guess all the work went into the interface, that just makes it harder to see what you're playing. Avoid this one. Also, the multiplayer option is local, so you're not playing with others on Steam but just with someone who sits next to you.
eh it's nothing special but got it with 2 other clones for like 2.50. For that price it's a killer deal.
you can't play multiplayer with friends, its not that well made, but if its on sale for 0.99 and you enjoy tetris, you could check it out.

The game is basically what it looks like, a simple little tetris game, with some good background music. decently fun, and definitely worth the buck.
This game does not have features, on a controller its terrible, no skill or really anything.
Very solid Tetris clone; has some pretty cool colorful graphics/music while sticking to that arcade feel; definitely worth the price as a cheaper alternative if you don't like or can't afford any of the actual Tetris games.
If you like original tetris, this is close to it. The music in original tetris is funner and better. This game has good sound effects/voice and good graphics. They should add music choices/volume.
I love Tetris and I love this game!
The only disadvantage is the speed you move the blocks across the screen.
But it still offers a lot of fun!
By all means, this is a good puzzle game, i bought it for £0.69 on sale and even i think that's a steal, but here's the thing: I can't say i recommend this game to anyone because it just feels like a worse version of Tetris, and yes, i know, this was an arcade game first, but i say just get Tetris on whatever console or handheld you have because this game isn't really worth your time or money.
Tetris clone with backgrounds that seem designed to cause motion sickness and/or epileptic seizures. I have never had motion sickness before, but this game managed to cause it. D-minus. It only escapes F because it at least has a few pieces not in normal tetris.
tetraminos is a simple, yet really fun take on tetris. the presentation is similar to the developer's breakout game, brick breaker, both the graphics and the music, but also the technical aspects. windowed mode, resolution options and rebindable controls are available, but no volume settings.
single player has 3 game modes: puzzle consists of 50 levels, use a limited number of pieces to clear all the blue bricks on the level, the fewer you use of the available 30, the better the 3-star rating. only one level is unlocked at a time, but contrary to brick breaker, I could complete all of them, though many only for 2 stars.
challenge has you clearing more and more lines within a time limit, but each line adds to the timer, so it's not really an issue. speed can be, however, as it increases every now and then. and endless is what the name suggests, keep playing as long as you can. this mode has some weird shapes that are especially hard to deal with, and of course clearing multiple lines or a line consisting only of one color means more points.
speaking of colors, the reason the game is sitting on mostly negative reviews seems to be mainly because of the weird shapes and the constant color changes. as a non-competitive, casual enjoyer of tetris I didn't mind either, more variety as far as I'm concerned, but I understand why it would be an issue for some, especially if they take the leaderboards seriously.
multiplayer is also an option, split screen for 2-4 players, and thanks to remote play, it's not only local anymore, but I couldn't try it. whenever you clear a line, one appears on every opponent's level, sounds fun.
full price is way too much, but I definitely recommend the game, paid a whole 70 cents, was more than worth it. loading times can be a bit slow, the score sound effect in endless mode is really annoying, and I've never heard a less enthusiastic announcer in a game, but otherwise a lot of fun.
Didn't notice that this game has 5 new pieces, sorry to say this, but I hate them all. Another thing that I find annoying is that the movement is too slow, you want a piece all the way to the right side? That will take like 3 seconds, you can't play fast in this game. Makes it more boring for me.

the rule is some fun.
the color of the piece is not completely random, it has "trends/floods" while some random are also among them. for maximal scoring efficiency, you need to feel/guess the beginning of a color flood, AND, manage to build Color Strike lines for them while trashing the random colored ones on separated lines.
the fastest speed is not deadly and allows some thinking for Color Strike works.
also has lock delay and some wall-kick. the falling puzzle game is much more friendly with this.
cons:
wall-kicks are really weird. there are cases that the kicked position is one more cell away from the wall, and some cases it seems not in tight position at all but you can't rotate it.
DAS rate is way too low. slower than my tapping, dude.
single rotation. triple tap feels bad.
neither pros nor cons just tips:
the ONLY pentomino, the X-piece, which is also the hardest one to deal with, comes randomly but rarely. it is challenging even to good players, if he's taking some risk to make Color Strike.
the risk is acceptable if you learn how to prepare for it. (the odd-even parity theory, in standard tetris, for the T-piece which is 3-1, but here for X-piece it's 4-1. just imagine it put on checkerboard.)
puzzle mode, is not my favorite but maybe someone will love it.
btw didn't play multiplayer. *no friend to play.jpg* this is also the place to put more fun in.
ideas:
it can be made more interesting based on the current rule, other than just rewarding Color Strikes with voice and score, and an only endless mode. for example, end at somewhere to let players challenge best score efficiency.
better to display the score added on each line clear to emphasize Color Strikes. i remember it's like ×5 the original score based on number of lines cleared and the level, and it's appropriate multiplier. making such Max Color Strike is so challenging.
conclusion:
fun game with actual challenging moves provided if you really try to do it best (instead of relying on luck).
but currently kinda lack of details. worthy when -85% like now.
Tetraminos is a budget Tetris clone that almost looks like it belongs on mobile because of its simple art assets, typical mobile-style menu interface, and lack options, but outside of those aspects, it is inoffensive. You have the typical Endless Mode, Challenge Mode (Clear X amount of lines on the same level and the requirement ramps up on the next challenge) and typical Puzzle mode (clear the blue pieces already on the board). There is also multiplayer which I have not played myself.
Take a look for what options you have for Tetris on Steam. For a while, your only option was Tetris Ultimate, the colossal failure that Ubsisoft released in 2015. Before Puyo Puyo Tetris, your next option was Tetraminos when it came out in 2017. Simply enough, Tetraminos is a simple Tetris clone that is largely the same as classic Tetris, but has additional pieces constructed out of a single block (square), two blocks (two block I piece), three blocks (handy corner shaped pieces and three block "I" stacks, and and rare, but annoying plus-sign shaped 5 block piece. That is truly the only major mechanical difference between this and classic simple Tetris games. There is no holding of pieces, or power ups, or meters for spells or anything.
The most important mechanic is then how the game "Feels" to play - like responsiveness and how pieces connect for advanced manuevers. While the feel is mostly fine, I will say that it seems like you're not able to do T-Spins and make those last minute advanced skill rotations - which will probably put off some hardcore Tetris fans. Though if you're are hardcore Tetris fan, You already have Puyo Puyo Tetris, some other PC Tetris, or not playing on PC in the first place. It's essentially just a cheap Tetris-like you can get on Steam. The long term content is the Puzzle mode (which probably wouldn't take long to complete) and competing on the Leaderboards.
Presentation is fine, but unremarkable. The peices and play field are neon-bright colors and clean looking, but the interface is mediocre despite its mix of pretty colors. The same goes for the music - generic electronic techno that fits the game perfectly, but will leave your memory the moment you turn off the game. On a 1-10 scale where 5 is "Average" the presentation would score no higher than a 6 or 7 at best.
Tetraminos is just fine, but nowhere near as good as the best Tetris games. $10 for this is not expensive and maybe a fair price, though considering there are loads of games that can take your time, it might be too much for what this game offers, which is why I bought it on sale. Unless you have a desperate need to get your Tetris fix on Steam, you can wait for a sale or just pass and probably find a free Tetris on PC.
I love Tetris and I love this game in it's own way.
The only gripe I have is they need to add an adjustment for the speed you move the blocks across the screen, Sometimes it just feels slower then it should and also I am a single rotation kind of guy so only rotating the blocks one way is no issue for me but I understand why some people are frustrated with no dual rotation but at this price I don't mind these issues!...
The game could be ok, but the controls seem hyper-sensitive on a steam controller's left touchpad. 3 times during my first 3 games, it moved the piece down without me pushing down on the touchpad. It would be much better to allow people to use the joystick instead. I know the controls can be customized, but the default of having the A button to drop and X to rotate seems very counterintuitive compare to every other tetris game i've ever played over the last 30 years. Better choices would be Y to drop and A to rotate. Also an option to rotate the other direction would be nice. Hopefully the devs can improve the game with these suggestions.

OH GOD THE COLORS, you can't differentiate the different pieces by their color with your peripheral vision on the upcoming piece, which suuuuuucks. Also everything changes colors seemingly at random
