Everything from emotional tendencies to criminal behavior are recorded and utilized as a guideline to lead everyone to the good life: not only pursuing happiness, but attaining it. Needless to say, the public was excited to begin quantifying their everyday lives. The general term for this value, which determines the morality of an individual's heart and soul, is commonly known as the Psycho-Pass.
One component of this value is the Crime Coefficient, which is ultimately a number that represents an individual's potential to commit crime. In order to combat those who attempt to disrupt the status quo, detectives work in tandem to maintain peace and order, composed of Enforcers and Inspectors. The former is tasked with apprehending suspects, while the latter oversees and commands their subordinate colleagues. After all, Enforcers possess high Crime Coefficients. However, because of their criminal nature, they can better understand what makes other criminals tick, allowing them to sniff out suspects and arrest the true perpetrators. But because of their criminal background, Inspectors are needed to provide a calm and sound judgement to each case. Ultimately, all members of the MWPSB have to walk a fine line, maintaining their own mental health while facing the worst that society has to offer.
With justice in their hearts, the detectives of Division 1 tackle each case, confronting humanity's ugly truths.
But, what lies ahead?

I got this game to try something different. The gameplay reminded me of old Commodore 64 (ask your parents) games, with simple graphics and a point & click user interface. The storyline was getting interesting but I soon realised that the game was not saving my progress, even when I clicked on the Save option and received a message confirming that my game had been saved. There are plenty of comments online from other users who had the same problem. None of the suggested fixes worked for me, so I gave up and moved on to something else. If you're the sort of person who plays a game all the way through without ever turning off your computer, this might work for you. Shame, the game had promise but the hard to find options menu and non-functioning Save feature ruined it. Do not recommend.

Great Visual Novel
If you're coming into this game thinking it's going to be like anything you've seen in the anime, turn away now. I say this because that was my exact thought process when I purchased and began playing this game a few years ago. As a result, I came out of my first playthrough disappointed. Mandatory Happiness maintains the setting and characters from the first season, conveniently dropping the new protags somewhere in the middle of all that. MH is fully voiced, which is something that I appreciated while playing and is one of the high points of the game. The story, is not, however. It's not bad, but falls flat in many areas. There's not a lot of stops along the way, so it ends up being a pretty straightforward experience. This makes the journey to end of the game feel like a hurtle, and when you get there, it's anticlimactic at best. Furthermore, the new characters were not built up enough to stand on their own in a game full of beloved faces that have seasons of development and characterization behind them. Which is unfortunate, because in spite of that, I really enjoyed Nadeshiko and Tsurugi's characters. Some other positives: the 2048 minigame, a fun yet confusing addition (but I still welcome it anyway), art gallery, glossary, and other small things that don't really save MH from its middling story but are nice to have regardless. If I had to rank this game, I'd give it a 6. Maybe my bias as a PP fan is stopping me from scoring it lower, but I also can't go any higher than that. I'd still recommend it though, I was disappointed with this game due to its wasted potential, but still found some moments I enjoyed. Plus someone else may find more to like about this game than I did.
