Drive on Moscow is a distinctive turn-based strategy game that offers a unique gaming experience. One of its notable features is the ability to play as either Russia or Germany, selecting a general with historical significance. Depending on the starting point, playing as Russia in the winter scenario presents a slight advantage, as Germany struggles with equipment freezing and slow movement due to inadequate winter equipment. The game is won through accumulating victory points by achieving objectives, with the player having the most points at the end of the war declared the winner. The game has a board game-like feel, but this does not detract from the overall experience. At the start of the game, a feature called Command and Confusion provides a briefing on the scenario, outlining objectives and historical context. This element does an excellent job of establishing the historical accuracy of the events. Given the setting of Moscow, Russia must commit all available resources, as they were initially underprepared for Germany's military might. Conversely, as Germany, it is crucial to achieve objectives quickly, as delaying allows Russia to build up their forces and potentially overwhelm. The storytelling in this game is exceptional, conveyed through text rather than voice acting, yet effectively immersing the player in the wartime experience. Additionally, the game's mechanics, such as counters and unit movement, are noteworthy. Players are limited to three counters per square in battle, and unit movement is restricted by the sequencing of the game. This requires players to strategically plan their movements and attacks. The game's graphics and sound effects are also praiseworthy. The graphics are reminiscent of counters on a board, while the sound effects, including Russian music, effectively capture the feel of being at war. Overall, the game is a hidden gem that is both historically accurate and enjoyable to play. It is a great strategy turn-based war game that is easy to learn and pick up, making it a valuable addition to any gaming library. And on a side note, I really did enjoy this game it is really fun and historically accurate if that's important to you.

Even though it is easy to arrive at historically impossible outcomes, I like games that require you to make strategic decisions, which this game does. Forget historical accuracy, it's a fun system to play.

Fun game, really quick play. Nice diversion from some of the heavier games.
This is what happens when you take a "beginners" tabletop wargame from the 1990's meant to introduce new players to the world of wargaming (by being simplistic and unrealistic and not requiring much warfighting skills) and port it to iOS and THEN port THAT over to PC. you get a game thats more like a puzzle than combat command, where fire and maneuver dont matter and you are forced to find the perfect combination of steps to take to win instead of knowing warfare.
Its about as close to simulating the combat that it depicts as chess is to simulating a gunfight in a back alley.
that is to say: not even close.
the map is pretty though.
