I love it personally!! I grew up in the Gen 1, & DX era
I like it, just wish there were more opponents
The card selection in this game is great, but the game itself is very clunky, with poor UI and confusing prompts. They need to add older cards to Master Duel
keeps crashing everytime i play
Better than Solitaire!

It’s a shame that the card list for Legacy of the Duelist is so outdated now, especially with Master Duel becoming the go-to for online meta Yu-Gi-Oh! matches.
That said, I honestly think Legacy of the Duelist is the most fun for casual fans—especially for people who want to emulate the anime’s iconic duels in the actual trading card game. Previous Yu-Gi-Oh! games have tried to do this to some degree, but they often relied on gimmicks, forced you to insert your own deck, or made you grind like crazy just to face tougher opponents from the series.
What makes Legacy of the Duelist so great is how it lets you relive all the major duels from the original anime up to VRAINS. Both you and your opponent use 40-card decks that are as close as possible to the real cards the characters used in the shows. That was such a cool feature—it’s easily my favorite implementation of the anime's card game rules.
I don’t know how many other people got into Yu-Gi-Oh! games specifically to emulate the anime matches, but for me, this is the closest any game has come to pulling it off—and it does it so well. That’s why it’s my favorite Yu-Gi-Oh! video game overall. Sure, other games like 5D’s Championship let you self-insert into the plot, and classics like Forbidden Memories or Duelist of the Roses have unique mechanics, but this one hits differently.
As someone who got into the Yu-Gi-Oh! card game through the anime, being able to relive all six series I watched in card game form is just awesome. Even though the game gives you preset decks for the anime duels, you can still customize your own deck if you’d rather grind for cards instead of focusing on the anime experience.
That said, the grind for cards is the main flaw of this game—but honestly, that’s been an issue with pretty much every Yu-Gi-Oh! game. You have to keep opening packs (like in real life) to collect 100% of the cards available in Legacy of the Duelist. I played the Switch version, and man, it was a grindfest. RNG and spamming story or challenge fights made it way more tedious than it needed to be.
If I replay this game, it’ll be just to re-simulate the anime duels, which is super easy to do and the main reason I love and recommend this game.
DO YOU WANT TO ACTIVE THE EFFECTS OF A CARD?
YuGiOh fucking sucks!
It crashes the whole time, its not something that triggers it just does it random. Also the menu is hella confusing. the gameplay itself is fine.
Best YuGiOh game out there.
nice
beceremedim
this GAME rocks!
I really like playing old yu-gi-oh and this happy fills that hole.
Now with Master Duel this game is kind of redundant but I had a lot of fun with the story mode and making decks with the packs. For old yugioh fans I think its worth purchasing even with Duel Links and Master Duel available for free.
the game is fun but very rng dependant even if you play well sometimes, the rng decides to just destroy you
We need Yu-gi-oh! legacy of the duelist III
Great for the nostalgia of the campaigns and easy to just jump into. Overall 7.5/10 and a nice pick up for Yu-Gi-Oh players
This game fulfilled a life long question of mine at 28 years old - How would a deck constructed by me hold up against the pharaoh himself.
While using all retro cards, The answer was about 2 turns because Yami Yugi's deck was built on hopes and dreams and the only world where he is the king of games is in the animator's mind.
Thank you to the creators for giving us the perfect Yu Gi Oh sim.

Here I will leave this beautiful Capybara, whoever passes by can pet it and give it a thumbs up (I need Steam Points).
Great
completely lacking of any special sauce, the cards are practically unreadable, the table and background might as well not exist and the visual novel cutscenes should just either be replaced with manga panels, clips from the anime or just not be there because they just look and feel BAD. Go play master duel or the ps1 game on an emulator, this just mostly sucks in every aspect.
game keeps crashing
If any Yu-Gi-Oh! player (either a boomer, casual, nostalgia, or competitive) that hates the massive power creep that Pendulums [which I'll give that mechanic a new look-over and even a greater chance for redemption and shine] and Linked-Ups [which they needs to be extinct from its inception immediately for all I care] gave from late 2015 all the way to now, then Legacy of the Duelist and its current DLCs is for you. However, its ban list is around the 2020 or 2021 erratas if memory serves me correct. The only drawback is that if they update the ban list to this date (excluding any card that involves with Linked-Ups), and work our the bugs and kinks to the game, then I'll give it even a higher score. For now, I'll give Legacy of the Duelist 8 1/2 (almost a 9) out of 10.
Do not buy this version of the game. Buy the Link Evolution one.
It has:
- better graphics
- more cards
- no watermark
- all DLCs included
- more balanced decks and fights
- link monsters
Overall not a bad game but the other one exceeds in all aspects
If you do miss the old "Yugioh World Championship" series for the GBA: Do not look further and play this. It has a lot of nice text for the missions and it keeps you occupied for a long time. You can also simply "switch" decks and try out the deck from the enemy.
The game contains most stuff up until the first link series.
The only "painpoint" is the amount of DLCs. Would recommend to buy them when in sale for 50-75% off. I mean, it has 17 DLCs? (And dont get confused from my "not so much" gametime: I also have this game but with all DLCs for my switch)
This game is a scam. The new version is what you should get if you want to get everything and play with your friends. I'm really disappointed and I wish I could get my money back. Do not buy this game, buy YuGiOh Legacy of the Duelist: Link Evolution
yugioh fun
For the OG Big Dawgs, Yami Dawg, Legacy of The Dawgs, Dawg.
If you grew up in the early 2000s yelling "DARK MAGIC ATTACK" at your cousin before you obliterate the last of his life points, then this game is for you.
YUUUUGIIIIOOOOHHHH!!!
A great way to relive the nostalgia of watching the original Yu-Gi-Oh series and collecting the cards as a kid while also finally learning to play.
Pretty fun so far.. very nostalgic. Call of the Haunted card is bugged - doesn't leave the spell/trap field after using monster as tribute. Small thing - but otherwise, really enjoying it
Perfect Yu-Gi-Oh game for those who don't want to deal with modern day Yu-Gi-Oh bs.
Almost forgot how fun this game used to be before, and having actual turns where the opponent doesn't OTK you or prevents you from playing.
I really miss the old school Yu-Gi-Oh.
q
I placed a card and end my turn. 5 seconds later I lost. 10/10
Awesome
card games = yes
Chilling game
Game breaking mouse glitch that only effects this game, plus it's a dead game anyway. Avoid buying.
The very best Yu-Gi-Oh game I have played since Forbidden Memories for PS1.
Amazing game! If you see it on sale, do not hesitate!
Good game if you're looking for that old-school, "Power of Chaos: Yugi the Destiny" vibe
!Oh-yeah!
Yami is evil.
IT'S TIME TO DU-DU-DU-DU-DU-DU-DU-DU-DU-DUEL!

hell yea brother
Charging 30 bucks for the version with link summoning makes no sense, plus the game is visually boring, music constantly feels boring. When compared to the World championship games on ds, this game is super dull. all thos fancy animations, only happen when certain cards are played. And I dont even remember buying this, I played the switch version
Top
It's out dated compared to more recent games and is pretty dead when it comes to MP. But it's a fun SP experience, especially if you're a yugi-boomer like me who played the game from 2002 thru 2005-ish as a kid, tried getting back in a few years post-edison and couldn't do it because the new mechanics turned me off. I hear Link Evolution is cool for SP as well, has cards up through 2018 and can be modded to expand the experience. But if you're looking for multiplayer I think the f2p master duel game is where you should go as long as you don't mind shelling out cash or grinding to catch up with the current meta.
