Отзывы пользователей
- It is more a mini-game than a puzzle game
- I do somewhat enjoy the gameplay mechanics
- The music is serviceable
- At times it is relaxing, at times it is plain boring
- My favorite part of the game is collecting the circles after completing a level, it is a satisfying minimalist reward
🔴 Circles currently has 92% positive rating on Steam and it does get a recommendation from me, but really this is not a must play.
Not a puzzle game, despite claiming to be. It's just a series of "can you move your mouse at the right speed in the right direction?" levels. I did a few dozen of them and there was minimal thinking involved, just some kind of light dexterity testing. I didn't find it relaxing or puzzling or even particularly interesting, although it does do a pretty good job of presenting things completely non-verbally and encouraging you to figure out yourself what to do on each level. It runs fine in Linux, so that's something...
Fun game with lots of challenges from a single concept. Amazing how many different way circles can be manipulated to solve a puzzle. This is the type of game you set out to play for 10 minutes and end up spending half an hour just playing one more puzzle. Highly recommended.
Thank you Jeroen, a really nice and simplistic game. I was feeling stressed this morning and it helped me calm down. Nice calm music and nice mechanics. Have a great day !
The puzzles are pretty neat, but the real reason I'm recommending this is that it has the best sound design ever.
A great wordless puzzle game that gets rid of alot of the typical exhaustion and anxiety that you sometimes have in traditional puzzle games.
Really easy to sit down and relax to, puzzles aren't incredibly complex but they require experimentation and some "self-teaching" that makes them feel really rewarding.
Bite-size games are a good genre.
Circles is a short experiment that's fun to blaze through.
You learn a lot of mechanics very quickly and organically.
There's no down-time and it doesn't overstay its welcome.
great animations, awesome color design, fun and intersting minimalsit gameplay
The pi is not a lie. In Circles you navigate rotund mazes, trying to avoid becoming tangent to any of them. In some puzzles you dash across radii, as circles pulse in time to your movement direction or speed. The minimalist approach to the game has a geometrical appeal to it. Some levels appear to test dexterity when in fact they demand looking at the circles from a new plane of thought.
I would never go as far as to say that this game contains ovals. At the same time, given the price point, I hoped for a greater diameter. Something about its ellipse made me wonder if the two foci could have been more coincident. The geometry rarely took my breath away. Overall it delivers on its premise even if it’s not a perfect circle.
An elegant and cute game that will take an hour of your time, a little bit of puzzle solving and some coordination. The puzzles are original and never too repetitive, the design is beautiful and soundtrack very relaxing. If you were a fan of Osmos (like I was) you will enjoy this game.
The main game has great puzzles designed around tracking the circles around each other. It is all quite clever. Every puzzle is thoughtful and the music/SFX accompaniment is relaxing and encouraging--even when I make a mistake. That being said, I have found little enjoyment in playing with the additional difficulty modifiers, and though that the last handful of stages were anxiety-inducing because of the need for continuous and precise mouse movement.
As everyone mentions, this is a mouse dexterity game, although there is still a small amount of puzzle in there.
Also, everyone is correct about replaying all levels 4 times, although there is still some new challenge in it.
Recommend, because it's an overall good casual game, even if it's a little misleading.
Tl;dr: to me, everything about this game is right.
So, 🔴 Circles is a game about mouse dexterity and stuff like that. Most of us have probably played games like this before, and for me, I quite enjoy them. Launching the game alone pulled me into this game. I have seen some reviews that are like "Oh this game advertises itself as a puzzle game but all it is is moving your mouse. I want a refund" and crap like that. BUT, I played the game through, and if you play for more than like 5 minutes, you will see how much of a puzzle it can get to be.
Genre: Puzzle/Mouse Dexterity
Music: calm, relaxing: 4/5
Gameplay: Puzzlish, Fun: 5/5
Bugs/Glitches: None that I have found: 5/5
I recommend this game
This game is a well made, short, minimalistic, elegant little mind exercise. If that sounds like something you will enjoy, get this. But you should be wary of a few things:
- The main levels (other than the extra challenge modes that alter the gameplay) take around an hour. I personally felt I was done with the game after 1 hour of gameplay. It might be just me.
- Not all levels are fun, but all are well designed.
[*]Some levels feel repetitive for a puzzle game. There are a lot of variety on mechanics, but the puzzles using those mechanics rarely surprise more than twice.
If you are okay with the above things, get the game, because this kind of elegancy in game design is hard to find these days.
Awesome interactive soundtrack and clean minimalist presentation. Every few levels the mechanics change a little bit. I wish it had shown how cool it would get sooner, because I almost quit before that point. My other complaints is that I have turn up the volume quite a bit louder than most games to hear it. I tried with Steam Controller and it wasn't precise enough, but it plays great with a mouse. Otherwise a very relaxing game.
Recommend. Well worth the price. Great minimalist puzzle game!
It's just you and your mouse out there! (Please don't try to play this game on a track pad). Literally all you do is move your mouse. You don't even use mouse buttons... JUST movements. And with that, Circles is a fairly original and clever puzzle game. On each level, NOTHING happens until you move your mouse. The levels are all based on how you're moving. Which direction are you moving your mouse? How fast or slow? How close to another object is your object? These are the types of factors you'll have to consider when completing a puzzle.
Artistically, the simplistic style works perfectly. It reminds me a lot of the feel of Anti-Chamber, including the visuals, the music, and even the cleverness and simplicity of the puzzles.
It's not a long game by any means. As a completioninst, I completed the game in about an hour, and one-hundred-percented it in about 3 hours. For its price, I definitely feel like it was worth it.
Also, don't think of this as one of those twitch dexterity mouse games. The puzzles MOSTLY rely on thinking them through, although some levels do require a little bit of dexterity.
I definitely felt like there was some very professional level design behind each of the puzzles. Recommend to any puzzle game lover.
Circles is not a terrible game, but it is deceiving, even after having played the demo.
Circles presents itself as a 90+ levels puzzle game. However, it is not a puzzle game. There is no thinking required to complete any level. Circles is simply a series of mouse-controlled dexterity mini-games, where you will have to move your mouse in the proper way (speed, angle, etc...) to complete a level. These 90 levels are also extremely simple, and even without paying attention I blasted through the game in less than an hour - for a 8€ game, that's pretty terrible value. There are four additional modes that make you replay through the same levels with an added gimmick for difficulty (like rotating levels), which could kick playtime to 3h or so, if you really want to replay the same levels 5 times.
On the other hand, there is definitely some interesting elements in Circles. For one, the entire game UI is based on circles. There are no words, no menus, and not a single shape on screen that is not a circle. Everything the game needs to convey, it tells via circles, colours and sound cues. While the design in itself is intriguing enough, what actually makes this weird choice compelling is that it is up to you to understand what the game expects of you. That would make for great puzzles, if...Circles ever resisted you, but it doesn't. It is too simple for this to become an enticing challenge.
The other aspects of the game are pretty weak too. The minimalistic visuals (colors + circles) actually manage to be eye-seering in a few levels, due to downright idiotic color choices (yeah bright yellow on bright red, this ought to work, right?). The sound is nothing you haven't heard in a million puzzle games before: jazzy/electronic atmospheres, with sound cues based on your mouse movements.
While it is not bad and has some interesting elements, I cannot reasonsably recommend anyone to use 8€ on this game when there are many superior puzzlers on Steam for half the price. Cool concept, but Circles is really just that: a concept.
Pros:
- Really nifty UI
- Unique mechanic in trying to figure out what the game expects of you
Cons:
- Extremely short (under an hour, 3 tops if you replay the same levels with modes 5 times)
- Barely any thinking, more dexterity than puzzle
- Dirt easy
- Some terrible color palette choices which hurt the eye
- Beside the UI, you've seen it all before
- Expensive
Minimalist graphics, elegant gameplay, excellent music. Amazing game that enchants with its simplicity
It's original, but it's not much of a puzzle game, and I'm not sure I'd call it relaxing. More of of a precision game than anything. Some of the levels are pretty hard on a touchpad.
This game has nothing : no menu, no option, no explanation, no tutorial ... nothing !
And yet, it's a very good minimalist puzzle game where you have to figure how to bring your circle from one circle to another circle, all the while avoiding other circles ... most of the time :p
There, best game description ever :D Add to that an extremely reactive dev, who fixed achievements not unlocking in less than 30 minutes. Definitely recommended.
