for its price point, it's certainly not worth it. you get a couple of good features, maybe, but they're things that really shouldn't be locked behind such a paywall. it's not a good trade. just keep using the standard version, I'd only really recommend this if it ever went down in price - either permanently or in a sale; but sales are seemingly not common with this. its highest discount was 30%, and even *then* it wouldn't have been worth it. **I will forever defend FireAlpaca itself as a great program, BUT** unfortunately this is one of those things that should've been left as an idea :7
I've been using firealpaca for years, since I began art in like 2017 on the old webpage editions. In my experience the software is intuitive, versatile, and great quality for a fair price. I started in around the same time I began testing paint tool SAI and personally I prefer firealpaca. Now there are some things that are still limited in the program, but it's mostly specific tasks that you'd need adobe for anyway. For general use, or just everyday doodles, firealpaca is my go to.

I was a free firealpaca user before getting this program, for many years. Only recently had I moved to be professional with my work. I needed something I easily could use still while also offering new and improved features. This program definitely delivered on that. One super nice bonus of having this program is new brushes (free to use and easy to download) are released every week for use <3

If you like FireAlpaca already it's worth it, basically the same program but a bit more polished.
I basically only bought this for the dark mode because of my light sensitivity and chronic migraines. I've been using the free version so long I didn't mind too much forking up the cash, but I think it's *really* crappy to put dark mode behind a paywall, especially this much of a paywall, like, wtf?
I love Firealpaca don't get me wrong but not crazy different then the free version. Also having black UI behind a paywall is quite goofy!!
I enjoy using it, I found it easy to learn, and the dark mode is always welcome! All in all if you are looking to get into digital art, Firealpaca is a pretty well rounded choice.

If you are deciding to make digital art on here, it's a very good choice. I personally use it for roblox clothing designs and the brushes and all features are very useful for such thing. Ever since I started using this program for my designins projects, I've gotten better exponentially. Thanks to FireAlpaca SE, I can provide something for myself and for my friends. W
Though I hadn't used this program for long, I can say that this was a good thing to spend part of my allowance on.
I've been eyeing this version of FireAlpaca for years and finally having the means and the opportunity to purchase it certainly made me happy.
The option to switch to dark mode and access to exclusive brushes in the store were the reasons I decided to purchase the product. The liquify tool and the new masking layers were something I've yet to try out.
I don't know if it's a placebo effect, but I had noticed that SE ran faster than the free version. It's also nice to know that I can still create any MDP file from either version, and use it on both too. I still use the free version, but only if the router isn't working, and I just hadn't opened Steam before then.
I guess the only issues I have with the program would be the price and the fact that it's exclusively available on Steam.
I mean, close to twenty dollars for this program doesn't exactly seem worth it, given how many exclusive features are on here.
Maybe if it were bumped down to twelve or something, it'd probably be better.
As for the Steam exclusivity, I find it to be a little problematic, especially since my Wi-Fi booster cramps during storms. If Steam doesn't open before the storm begins to form, it basically renders the program impossible to use (though, if there's a way to use SE without opening Steam, I'd love to hear it).
All in all, I still think that it's a good purchase, especially if you prefer the workings of FireAlpaca, and want to gain access to more tools and exclusive features that this version has to offer.
Easy to use and affordable with more accessibility than the free version.

FireAlpaca is wonderful, I used the free version for years and just had to get the Steam version. My favorite part is how they are adding comic/manga-specific features - keep it up, friends! And the brush library is wonderful.

Let’s face it, you’re probably only buying this for the dark mode. And honestly? If you’re going to use this software for dozens or even hundreds of hours, it’s probably worth it, despite being a bit pricey. It’s not vastly different from the free version, but it’s nice to boot it up without seeing the announcements and, of course, to have access to dark mode.

I'Ve been using FA for years and the steam edition for around 2 years. Originally I just got SE for the dark mode, but its a pretty solid drawing app and easy to learn.
After 10+ years of using the free version I still open the app and wait for the ad popup that isn't there anymore. Deffo an upgrade worth investing in.
Usually this has been fine for what I do. Nothing too crazy. Not really doing big animations but have been able to make some neat animated emotes so like small stuff. My only issue I have had is it hating my tablet randomly. No matter what tablet setting I use sometimes it just refuses to accept my pen as the cursor. Any other window works. The mouse works. But using the pen while clicking on FireAlpaca does nothing. Suuuuper frustrating and tempts me to try another program but I spent money on this so I rather not ;-;

My go to drawing application, there is free version but loved this i bought this one to support, and also to track hrs (dear god my hrs lol)
Been using the free version for years and I bought the dark UI because the program has always been easy for me to use and is now even better for me with the dark UI because my bad eyesight can see things even better. The tools are nice and visible with the white and the program runs smoothly. I look forward to making lots of art with it.
I've used the free version of firealpaca for YEARS as its literally the best free digital art program in my opinion, easy to understand, very user friendly, great UI! i got a new wacom tablet and decided i wanted to splurge on a new program but clip studio was SO confusing, so i went back to good ol' fire alpaca but saw they offer this one time payment version rather than some kind of subscription service which i hate. I decided to try it and i LOVE it! just like the free version but a better upgrade. the brushes on this version feel much nicer and are easier to customize in my opinion and the UI is overall much cleaner looking and plus no ads! fire alpaca is great for beginners but honestly i just cant be bothered to have a more complicated program than this one. i think ill just stick with fire alpaca lol

been using the free version of FireAlpaca for YEARS. The steam edition is the same awesome program with a little extra. I'd say you should try the free version first and see if you like it, but SE is well worth the money

Good for Beginner Artists
So I initially started digital art using Clip Studio Pro but I found it overwhelming as I was a beginner. So I switched to Fire Alpaca and I I found it easier to use than the "Pro" app CSP. I liked it so much that I bought it on Steam just for the dark mode to show support for the devs. I have been using it since and I've made a lot of good art with it. I also started animating on it. All in all, perfect for beginners and a 10/10.
It's lightweight and a good contender for open canvas and paint tool sai.

Used the free version for years, defintely prefer this version, loving the dark mode a lot and other features. I would reccommend waiting for a sale to buy this software.
Absolute garbage. There is no way to change the onion skin layering levels. I use that "always display the first frame" thing for the background and animate over that with onion skin mode, but the previous layer/frame of the onion skin is covered by the background layer. so I thought "oh maybe this program is stupid and you just have to manually add the background layer for each frame so I did that and that does not work because then it messes up the onion skin mode (which has absolutely zero customization besides the color of the next/previous frame.
searched everywhere. found 1 reddit thread asking about this to which 1 person replied to it from reddit boy 3000: your best bet is probably making a fully white (or any other solid colour) layer to drag around below the frame youre working on so you can block the rest of the frames, sorry i dont think theres an option to do what youre asking 💔"

Do not waste your money on this garbage. buy literally anything else but photoshop. Do NOT buy firealpaca. I remember it being good in 2018 but it is shit. I regret financially supporting this.
edit: I shall include that other than this one issue firealpaca is a great product. You should download the free version from firealpacas website, don't financially support them until they add basic onion skin settings.
I can just set the background layer to invisible and it will show up in the onion skin but I'd rather see it fully and draw over it.
also they removed the option to see more than 1 onion skin frame (like seeing 3 onion skins ahead/behind. this was a thing.
This is really just an easier and more available version of Photoshop specifically for artists. I could not recommend enough. This actually makes drawing worth drawing.

I got this because the free version I used for years has so many bugs in it so they force you to buy this version switch in itself is so dumb.
Overall it works better and the new tools are cool.
My BIGGEST issue with this paid version though is that the saved files will not open unless I open the application go under file and open them from the application itself. It does not let me double click the saved piece and open it that way. It also does not show the artwork canvas as the icon for the saved files. All of these issues work in the free version.
The biggest praise for this is that unlike Photoshop it is a one time purchase which is a big reason I don't use any other program.

Ever since the latest FireAlpaca arrived, my program keeps crashing when I use the bucket or undo, I don't know what is wrong with it, I've uninstalled it and reinstalled but the issue keeps happening. Please fix this, ?I really love this program, I don't want to change it by force.
I would recommend this for anyone who enjoys using the original free FireAlpaca. improved brushes and performance. also dark mode is really nice on the eyes. you also don't have to worry about advertisements when opening the program.
I love this product, specifically for it's matching power with Photoshop. This design application is extremely capable, and anyone using it likely appreciates it very much.
