About the Game
Spellbind is a classic 2D point and click adventure game. You are Luppe, a 16 years old boy and head of the biggest gang of street urchins in the town of Riathon. You consider yourself to be the "king of thieves" and no one can doubt your stealth skills. One day, Ricko, your greatest rival and head of an enemy gang, challenges you in front of all of your followers. This is something you cannot defy. You have to accept the challenge and successfully complete it for the sake of your reputation. Ricko must not win! And what is the challenge? Enter the cellar of Lord Amatar’s house and steal his oldest, thus the most expensive, bottle of wine. A challenge that sounds easy and possibly would be, if only the owner of house had been someone else. Just thinking about the name of the owner gives you goose bumps. But you are obliged to accept the challenge. Otherwise your name and your future as the “king of thieves” will be in danger.
Spellbind places an emphasis on storytelling and puzzle solving rather than impressive visuals and is easily playable by experienced and inexperienced adventure games fans.

I am 32 years old.
My ex-wife and I have a daughter together, and we adopted our son together. Both are now 4 years old.
When we were going through our separation, I felt lost and unhappy. I was self-destructive. One day, I was so angry with everything spiraling out of control that I punched a concrete wall in a moment of overwhelming emotion. This resulted in breaking my fifth metacarpal in my right hand—the hand I worked with, played games with, and used to carry my children to bed—the hand I desperately needed to ensure I could continue providing.
Upon learning the severity of the self-inflicted damage, I became almost suicidal. Keep in mind that just a few months before this, I was the happiest man, with no history of depression or anxiety. I had never experienced anger outbursts, nor was I the type to break down and cry, but I was in a tough situation that truly prevented me from seeing the light on the other side.
With nothing better to do, I looked for a game I could play WITH ONE HAND while recovering. Somehow, I stumbled upon this game and read some of the comments. I decided it was worth a try... I must admit I didn't beat the game, nor did I play as much as some of you. In fact, I may have played this game for only a day or two. That being said, after doing so, I had a new joy and hope for life. I managed to leave behind the pain and suffering that had been thrust upon me. I could experience the joy and happiness of other people. I relaxed for 5 ♥♥♥♥ minutes listening to this music, long enough to realize that I would be okay.
After realizing this, I turned off the game and went back to work. My hand hurt a lot, but I was motivated. I stopped feeling so sorry for myself and became the father I needed to be at that moment, not the weak boy I was behaving like.
Today, I am close friends with the mother of my children. We don't fight, argue, or say hurtful things to each other. We are parents and friends.
Now I have 3 children. My third child is, wait, ALSO 4 YEARS OLD. The woman I am with was going through a very similar situation at the time of my separation, and we just unexpectedly stumbled into each other's lives. We have been dating for a year and are very happy together.
Moral of the story: you never know what life has in store for you, and if I had given up when all odds were against me, I wouldn't be where I am today. This silly little game helped me realize that.
Thank you.
Spellbind : Luppe's tale is yet another construction kit template copy+paste from serial shovelware pushers and asset flippers at Volens Nolens Games. These guys do nothing but copy premade game templates and game tutorials, fill out a few things/stamp out basic levels using the construction kit templates, slap on an asset flipped set of sprites/assets, and dump them on Steam and into cheap nasty shovelware game bundles as cash grabs. Trying to get paid for someone else's game templates, assets... at best, this is shovelware, at worst, it's a scam/cash grab.
This time at least it's not a 1:1 asset flip, it's instead a few badly done static images dropped onto a point-and-click adventure game template from Unity, so, you know, might as well be a website given how little animation there is. Imagine a video game competing with someone's Instagram, but with worse graphics, well, here we are.
Spider Key Games/Volens Nolens Games/Enoops/David Mulder (how many accounts does Volens Nolens need to use to mislead gamers?) have shown a repeat pattern of unethically dumping other people's work onto Steam as a cheap, nasty cash grab, through this account or through closely linked/alt accounts. Here's some examples so you can see for yourself:
- "Deadly Threat" = POLYGON Dungeons - Low Poly 3D Art by Synty developed by Synty Studios
- "Book of Shadows" = Polygon Western - Low Poly 3D Art Pack developed by Synty Studios
- "Little Adventure" = AB1 - Fantasy Platformer bundle developed by Yoyogames
- "Little Adventure 2" = AB1 - Fantasy Platformer bundle developed by Yoyogames
[*] "Mighty Vikings" = Polygon Vikings Pack developed by Synty Games
Taking this shovelware seriously as if it was a genuine attempt to make a game, it doesn't meet basic minimum requirements that most PC gamers expect as standard.
While there are options to change the resolution for the game, all this does is scale up the simplistic 2D art assets used to make the game, which makes little or no difference to the graphics quality. Without any other substantial graphics tweaks, it's not possible for gamers to improve the lacklustre 2D visuals.
The game features mostly static, barely animated 2D images, the kind of thing you expect to see in browser/flash games. While the artwork itself, while mediocre, might be considered passable, the visual presentation here is negligible, it might as well be a slideshow or a Youtube video. Pac-Man, Space Invaders and Asteroids had more advanced animation and visuals going on than this game does.
For gameplay purposes, because the user interface for this game is mostly just 2D static images... it might as well be a browser game. And we all know, Steam isn't here to compete with Chrome and Firefox. If the game can be done in a web browser, it's just not rich or compelling enough to appeal to serious gamers on PC.
These technical defects push this game below acceptable standards for any modern PC game.
You don't have to take my word about how bad the game is, we can measure the interest in a game by how much people bothered to play it. Spellbind : Luppe's tale has achievements, and they show us a very clear picture that the game absolutely failed to capture any interest from gamers. The most commonly and easily attained achievement is for clicking through a few times until you "go upstairs", but only around 1 percent of players bothered to get that far before uninstalling the game. That's a tiny, tiny proportion of gamers who even bothered with this. Ouch.
Reviewing SteamDB to check how popular this game was with players reveals a surprise... there's a very healthy spike in player counts for the game. But this isn't consistent with the achievement stats, that show only 1 percent of players bothered playing the game for any reasonable amount of time. How is it possible for this game to have so many concurrent players who weren't even playing the game? Trading cards. Players will use card idling software to collect the cards and sell them, but this won't trigger any achievements in-game. That tells us people only really bought this game for trading cards, and that's a damning indictment of the woeful quality. A closer look at the numbers shows the game just has a couple of players every week running up the game and idling it for cards, then deleting it. We must ask how it benefits gamers for there to be so many games like this, with no merit as a serious game, that only generate sales from people idling and selling the trading cards.
It's also important to note the "developer" here has connections to a number of shady Russian asset flippers and review manipulators who show an organised pattern to scam and defraud gamers with fake reviews and asset flipping the work of others for profit. While reviews are about the games, gamers should be informed when developers act unethically. Whether these connections are the same developer using multiple accounts, or just working closely with other unethical developers, gamers should be warned about the harm to gamers by this developer and their associates. Buying games from unethical developers puts your money at risk.
Spellbind : Luppe's tale is relatively cheap at $3 USD, but it's not worth it. Given the defects and quality issues with the game, coupled with the unrealistic price, and the questionable ethical nature of the developer and/or their associates (as outlined above), this is impossible to recommend.

This game is OK but the puzzles don't make much sense and it keeps freezing on me so I have to start again from the beginning. A bit frustrating once you've already got quite far.
Probably one of my worst game purchases ever.
Bought this because all the reviews were positive at the time I added this to my cart. Apparently this was supposed to be an old-school point-n-click adventure game, and being a fan of this genre (been playing since the '80s) I couldn't wait to try this one out.
Sadly, the horrible - and I mean horrible - English put me off so much that I just couldn't bring myself to continue playing. Whole sentences need revision, and the vocabulary is so, so bad that it's face-contortingly jarring. And it doesn't help that there's a relatively large amount of reading and text involved.
Add to that a very amateurish feel to the whole thing (this game plays like something that should be free), and unoriginal, uninspired puzzles that have extremely poorly written instructions (not that they're needed - you can figure things out on your own, but why write instructions when they're incomprehensible and would be of no help to anyone?), a tired, badly put-together, barely there, somewhat-of-a-storyline, and I seriously wonder how this game got greenlighted.
And the movement makes absolutely no sense - screens roll up and down, when you're supposed to be walking forwards or backwards respectively. Why?!
Oh, and objects aren't labelled, and there's no way of telling if they're "active" or not.
All in all, this game feels like some 9-year-old kid made it in his spare time.
This game should be free. And even then, I would not recommend it.
To be honest, this game is kind of weird. The puzzles are fun, and it's about the right challenge level for when you want something to do, but you don't really want to be banging your head against a wall in frustration. I completed the game in a couple hours. All in all, it's not the best game, but it's worth the price.
