Anime Monster Hunter on speed. Includes God Eater Resurrection which i liked more than the second one so far. This one starts really slow with many fights against the same monsters. So far it has been very easy, easier than the first one. Stil fun. And i got 1-3 for 7 Euros in winter-sale, which is insane value for money!

Repetitive missions in the same locations and against the same monsters, boring dialogues, poor ending scenario.

It has Denuvo.

I love this game when i watched the God Eater Anime it was my favorite but then i discovered it was a game i played the original on the psp and completed it so now im playing the second game

The best ever JRPG of its time, primarily including Resurrection.

Those who liked Monster Hunter and Anime storytelling yall need to play this one

Game comes with the first game, I played and finished both. While they drag on a lot and can be very repetitive, they're still worth it, imo but if I could I'd do a MAYBE cuz it defo ain't a full out recommended. I mainly played these to get all the context lore yada yada before I'd play GE3 (and Code Vein.) I just played in smaller increments, it was originally for the PSP and it's clear it was meant to be played in shorter bursts. Just not rage bursts, okay. Don't take the title to heart and stay calm when you die to a monster. xD

Now this is gonna be subjective, so you're warned:

While the game is okay and the overall story/plot was one I enjoyed for the most part, some parts of the story and its characters and how they act is super anime cringe though, especially the first game. I can't stand some characters and how they're written either. It's just ick. And the English voice acting made it dozen times cringier. Especially Kota. He sounds like some character that belongs in Sesame Street. I'd rather even listen to Wuk Lamat in English.

The cast in the 2nd game is fortunately better, not all, but plenty of characters are actually likable. Too bad a lot of cast from the first game is still present though. LOL Also lots of chicks look like they work in a brothel rather than dressed to fight big bad monsters to try and preserve and save humanity in a post-apocalyptic world. Some wear uniforms that would legit make their tatas fall out at the slightest movement. Stripper thigh high boots anyone? And then Subaru looks like she's just going to the beach. Can't take it serious at all. Which doesn't help because the characters do which makes me question their IQ. I know it's just fictional and they wanna give folks eye candy, but idk always been a thing I just can't take seriously. It's also why I can't ever take Ada Wong seriously ever in Resident Evil. LOL Like, yo lady, I think you wandered onto the wrong set, here.

I put up with a lot of stuff with the first game, but I ended up considering it an alright game. This one doesn´t even feel like a sequel in terms of mechanics, graphics, enemy variety, UI. Feels more like a DLC. It's only a sequel because the story continues. And everything negative about the first game feels much worse in this one. Where do I even start?

Probably the worst part is that, in its foundations, this is not a difficult game. So, in order to make it difficult as you make progress, the game has no choice but to throw unfair bullcrap at you. So, for example, they inflate the stats of the bosses so that they kill you in 2-3 hits even if you have the best gear possible. They make you fight variations of bosses which are the same but with higher stats, maybe different element and weak points, maybe different palette color, but with all their animations at like 200% speed. They make you fight multiple bosses with different elements at the same time, so you can't efficiently attack or defend against both. "Both"...yeah; in the hardest missions you'll be fighting up to four or maybe more bosses at the same time, even if you try to split up your team. This is not difficult, it's just frustrating. I only ever had two mission failures, and one of them was because i had forgotten to replenish my items (the other one was against the final "optional" boss, which is in its own tier of unfairness).

Related to that, all bosses have very telegraphed attacks, which makes sense. You'll see them preparing their cannons before shooting, charging before lunging, etc. But don't worry. In case you are performing too well, doing combos, blocking and dodging all attacks, etc; most if not all bosses also have an extremely quick slap/headbutt/bite/kick/punch that does as much damage as any of the big attacks and is not telegraphed at all. And they can spam it. Very fair.

"Poise" is a foreign concept for this game. In fact, I'd say you have negative poise. Not only does every attack interrupt you, 90% of attacks will send you screaming and flying 5 meters into the air and 3 meters backwards. This is not a joke or an exaggeration, this literally happens in the game. This is specially annoying when you are trying to chase an enemy and another one hits you and blows you to the stratosphere (now that's an exaggeration). As if chases weren't horrible enough in a game where literally everything is faster than you, even with speed upgrades.

Companion AI is so stupid. In the first game, your teammates try to heal you as soon as you are below half HP. In this game, they wait until you have the last sliver of HP. When they finally try to heal you, it's usually too late (and they waste heals in the process, because you are dead). This is a huge issue, I imagine the game would be much more tolerable if the healers worked properly. Also, Kanon is no longer the only one that shoots you with friendly fire. It happens very frequently. Makes you want to make a melee-only team, but then you have no healers.

I could go on but this has already devolved into a rant rather than a review. At the time of this writing, the game is 90% off and I'm still not sure it's worth it. Maybe only because it includes the first game. But this one was an utterly miserable experience at times. I hope they fixed these issues for the third game cuz I already bought that mf

Might as well download a PSP emulator and play GEB/GE2 there.

Good game, new features, more tactical gameplay compared to previous series. If only pc version weren't so poorly optimized this should've been a recommended review instead of a negative review.

Basically there's this huge multiplayer bug where it softlock players on loading screen and player lost their progression after restarting their room (happen super frequently).Me and my friends started with a full 4man squad buying this game on one of the steam sale. We didn't realize how big of the impact of the bug caused and slowly the squad went from 4 to 2 to fucking 0 to 2 to 3 to me writing this fking review here because of how sick I am because of this loading screen ass bug. Not to mention the disappointment when you searched up for solution and come across a steam/reddit discussion where players from 2016 (fking 8 years ago) faced the same issues you did and there weren't any update/patch from the publisher

Genuinely great. This game has everything, from music to story to combat. It's a must play game for anyone who likes this type of game.

I've played this game on PSP before. For some reason on my PC and controller, my right stick is too sensitive when moving up or down while locked on or aiming. Same with GER.

I really tried to get this game to work but no matter what I did (Compatibility mode [windows 7 + 8], changing files, putting it to windowed / windowed full screen / Fullscreen manually in the config files, etc.) I couldn't get it to give me any visuals. The menu would make noise but absolutely 0 graphics no matter what I did.

It's a real fucking shame, I loved playing number 3 and wanted some context on the story by playing through the first 2. But if it doesn't work it just isn't worth

If someone has a way to fix this I may try getting the game again but a game shouldn't need a complicated f around just to play

Even though i'm a fun of the GE searies ans also liked the anime, the same can't be said for this game. Aside from the story which is ok and the appearence of some of my favourite characters, the gameplay leaves a lot to be desired (e.g. character movement feels clunky, not so good fluidity in battles etc.). The graphics feel very behind even for a 2016 game. I would recommend someone to buy MH, instead of this, if you want to play this type of games honestly.

Monster Hunter-like with BIG ANIME aesthetic. At times the combat actually feels like Kingdom Hearts as well, in my opinion.
VERY grindy, kind of addicting. But if you aren't into the gameplay loop within 3 or 4 solid hours, this game isn't for you. Nothing wrong with not liking it either, it was originally a handheld (original PSP) exclusive and at times the limitation of both the graphics and gameplay emphasize this.

Story is... kind of "eh." But I think the world is interesting and one story element I did enjoy was the acknowledgement of events in the original game. Characters from God Eater 1 are acknowledged and some even make returns in this game.

The anime aesthetic is yes, kind of cringe. But it's stylish and even though the characters make me wince sometimes, I do find them kind of charming.

I've yet to play GE3 but one thing I REALLY dislike about this sequel is that there's not more to the customization. It feels very much like GE1 which isn't a bad thing, but also feels lacking in originality. So hopefully as the series grows in popularity (assuming it ever does) features like more elaborate customization, deeper character creation, and better articulation of stats (this is a big one: RPG leveling should be a thing in these games) should definitely be included in future installments.

GE2 is an enjoyable and addicting 7/10 that kills time like the plague.

Lock on and camera is Terrible, even worse than the 1st, gameplay is, overall a bit almsot simpler feeling. Graphics are, not any better... Characters are, if anything even a bit less likeable at least initially.
Overall, not a great experience, I pushed through a couple early quits but ya, each time I came back and did another missions or two the controls and camera issues just stood out as making it not fun, to the point I've actually just uninstalled it early after about 3 hours of play, something I very rarely do.
How much this is just that when they updated GE 1 they did a better job than GE2 rage burst, I don't know, but whatever it is, I can't recommend it to really anyone. The first one is barely ok... the third was alright though.

It's as good as I remember.

The game looks like it might have been fun to play, but I can't get controllers to work. I did internet research and discovered that this is a problem for all three games and goes back to 2016 at least. I even tried running the first and second games as administrator and it didn't work. The only "solution" was to restart my computer. But doing that *every* single time it craps out? Naw, not happening. Worse still, Rage Burst goes out the moment you touch a key on the keyboard or accidentally touch the trackpad. And since these games are long since out of any kind of development, the chances of a fix are nill, especially since these issues go back to 2016 and 8 years later there's still no fix.

I wouldn't recommend these games based on the above issues. I'd recommend picking them up on the PS4 and Switch, in the case of the third one. Otherwise, keep looking.

Yes

A monster hunter-like game that crafted its own identity. And that identity is high speed fighting and anime. It is monster hunter but anime, with more engaging story and a bunch of characters with their own development throughout the game, if that's what you want, then this is the game for you.

There are problems of course: the most important being the texture issue, because the game is upscaled from a handheld console. It doesn't affect gameplay, but it is clearly noticeable. The monster attack pattern and behaviours are also not as varied and natural as monster hunter. They are fun to fight against and the moves are very flashy, yes. But the monster are a lot dumber. The maps of God Eater 2 are also very boring, tending to just be circular arena with little to no variety.
