Same sh*t, but with gold currency now.
I enjoy these games, they are satisfying and comforting and numbing in a way. I often play them on bad days just to get out of my own head. My only issue with them is the whole "white saviour" idea, like I think I mentioned in my review of the first MOAI. It's really awful, but to be honest the story behind the game isn't as important as the mechanics when it comes to enjoyment, so I just roll my eyes at the white man saving the helpless natives trope and enjoy the fun gameplay.
No brains fun for waisting half an hour a day.
Off course I recommend it.
I love the little guys running around and building stuff.
love the interaction between levels giving an idea of what you are to face.
I love this game. Very casual no stress game. It's my go to when I want to get away from playing my MMOs.
Game Information
"MOAI: Trade Mission" Collector's Edition is a Strategy game. The game was developed by Toyman Interactive & Alawar Entertainment and published by Buka Entertainment.
"Trade Mission" the third episode of "MOAI." Previous episodes: "Build Your Dream" and "Path to Another World."
Since this is a collector's edition, it comes with extra features that are not available in its counterpart; the standard edition.
The Game Review
Game Visuals
I want to mention the visuals in the game are well done. The visuals can be adjusted in the game's option menu.
Game Audio
I want to mention that audio for the game is well done. Even though the audio is somewhat simplistic and repetitive. The audio can be adjusted in the game's option menu as well.
Gameplay
There are two different difficulty game modes to choose from: Casual and Normal.
This is a strategy game, where careful planning is required, due to the limited amount of resources that are available.
There are building structures that generate resources but they need to be collected manually by the player.
There are special power up bonuses in-game that allows the player to complete the levels much quicker. The special power up bonuses does have a time limit attached to them. These special power up bonuses show up much later in the game.
The character's rank updates after earning a certain amount of points from playing the game.
There are twenty-four different relics to collect in the game. All artifacts are stored in the player's backpack. These artifacts can be equipped and they have different purposes in the game.
There are sixty-five different achievements that can be unlocked from playing the game. Each of these achievements does come with some requirements that need to be completed before they can be unlocked.
Since this is a collector's edition, there are bonus levels, but they can be accessed only after the main levels are completed.
Miscellaneous
There are some extra features in the game: Bonus Levels; Wallpapers; Gallery; Music and Game's Strategy Guide. Most of these extra features can be accessed after the entire game is completed.
There are five different trading cards to collect. Only three of those trading cards are given out by the game. There are several ways to get the rest of the trading card: Purchased from Steam's Community Market; Trade with friends; Booster Packs and its' Booster Pack Creator.
Final thoughts: I have found the game enjoyable to a certain extent. The replay value for the game is low. I would recommend this game, but not at the game's full price value.
i just love the series. ez achievements, challenging enough to get the gold all the time.
fun puzzles with a nice story
This chapter in the MOAI saga is all of the same - a time management game
There are 40 levels in the main campaign and 13 extra ones. For each save the final level, there's an "extra" level that can be played as well. There are the usual achievements that we found in the serie. Note that to trigger them while playing, I started with a clean slate, user wise (deleted all profiles).
I found the balance, in this one, a bit confusing. The 10-15 first levels are quite difficult and I had to replay almost each of them to get the gold status - some several times. However, after that it becomes seemingly very easy. from level 30 and on, I triggered gold status at first try.
The only I have found is that there's no ambient music in the extra levels.
I'm playing this on Win7 64bit without any issue
Ok, they got back on the right path. This edition of Moai hits
all the marks, unlike #2. The levels are mostly challenging again
just to get a Sun. No more multiple Suns. You either "beat" the level
or you don't. New twists with treasure items to enhance skills/abilities
of workers.
I like that you can go back to virtually the same level with different goals
to achieve. Fun and "challenging" again!
the colonialist patronising is gross. Sprites etc are regularly not clickable for no apparent reason, requiring a restart of the level or the whole game.
I've played all the games in the MOAI series so far and this one is just as addictive and enjoyable!
The best game in the series so far. Easy to use controls and relaxing gameplay. 10/10.
Interesting time and resource mgmt game
MOAI 3: Trade Mission Collector's Edition is a time and resource management game that doesn't offer much new over the previous two titles. That said, the previous two games are pretty good for the genre, as is Moai 3.
There are a few additions that don't add much to the gameplay, abilities (which are visually represented and passive .... and may not do anything at all!) and items, which you can equip from the main menu and these give you in-game bonuses.
The game felt as long as the previous titles, but there are an additional 20 levels under an easy to miss icon at the bottom of the main game once you have completed the main game.
Overall, if you like time and resource management games, you'll be happy with this one. Graphics and sound suit the theme, it doesn't take the genre in a new direction, and is a casual time-sink that takes few risks, but you'll find yourself wanting to gold all the levels anyhow!
