The Preposterous Awesomeness of Everything is a satirical point-and-click adventure game, about progress, politics and propulsive nozzles. It features a traditional verb-based interface, with updated verbs (including 'befuddle', 'disrespect' and 'pray-for'), unique collage-based art and ~15,000 words (3-4 hours?) of intellectually stimulating satirical shenanigans.
The preposterous Awesomeness of Everything is about an apparently primitive society, attempting to work together to build a space rocket. It follows these people, from disordered chaos (the past), through a disgusting and distorted and horrible and hilarious kind of faux-democracy (the present (SATIRE! Amirite?!?!)), into the unknowable, irrelevant emptiness of outer space (the future).
Along the journey players will encounter a host of colourful characters (including the mysterious Man with the Little Pencil, the superfluous Man in the Wren Suit and the fabulous Helen), they will solve a variety of engaging puzzles, and they will be forced into making a number of difficult moral decisions, with potential disastrous consequences!
Features:
- Traditional verb-based interface
- Updated verbs (including 'befuddle', 'disrespect' and 'pray-for')
- Unique collage-based art
- A cameo appearance from Felix Kjellberg (PewDiePie)
- ~15,000 words (3-4 hours?) of intellectually stimulating satirical shenanigans
- A joke about white blood cells
- Prohibitively experimental electronic music
- Irrelevant duck

Wonderfully snarky nonsense.
You either die a hero or live long enough to see yourself become the villain.
welp
A decent short adventure, but mostly worth the cost of admission if you're already a fan of Joe Richardson or of adventure game design, to see some interesting ideas and reflect upon what he's preserved and what he's thrown out in his later adventure games.
Otherwise, it's fine. But there's a zillion point-and-clicks out there and standing entirely on its own merits, TPAOE is not really near the top of the list for things you should check out.
The Preposterous Awesomeness of Everything is one of the best pieces of satire in gaming I have played in a long time, possibly ever, I don't know.
It's topical, it's relevant, it's probably timeless which is depressing. It makes no sense. And it is SO. FUNNY.
Its bitter self-indulgent scathing mockery of the human race and our social-political hierarchies is SO on point it almost makes the base of my skull hurt.
It's bureaucracy growing from diapers into adulthood. It's a cage match between nihilism and absurdism. It's feeling isolated by your own frustration at how your fellow humans blissfully c*ck everything up (and maybe a little bit of shame when you see yourself in that soup mix too, if we're being honest).
You can't help but shake your head laughing in the kind of way that you just understand something to be a fundamental truth even though it's moronic and ridiculous.
It narrowly escapes coming off as arrogant.
I don't even care if it was amateur and sometimes lazy game design.
It's ugly as sin but doesn't matter because it's just the vehicle for the hearty dialogue. After a while it feels... charming?
It's a short play but the premise is dense so I didn't mind at all. And as always with me there were a couple things I had to look up because I just wasn't following the logic but then those things made perfect sense.
I played this after I played the Immortal John Triptych and not that my opinion really matters at all whatsoever but I wish Joe would've baked this format of TPAoE longer. I think it was much more original in concept and execution as well as authentic in messaging.
Might not be for everyone but I believe in you, Joe, even though you crapped the bed with Death of the Reprobate. 5/5
The Preposterous Awesomeness of Everything is a satirical gem in the world of point-and-click adventures. With its quirky humor, fun verbs, and satirical take on society, this game is a delightful journey into the absurd.
Despite its simplicity and easy puzzles, The Preposterous Awesomeness of Everything thrives on its Monty Python-esque humor and deliberately bad-but-good graphics. With multiple endings to discover, this game promises a short but hilarious adventure that will leave you entertained and maybe even pondering some deeper societal themes.
In essence, if you're looking for a game that is short, hilarious, and a bit offbeat, then The Preposterous Awesomeness of Everything is a must-play for anyone seeking a good laugh and a touch of satire in their gaming experience."
It's okay
It's alrigh
An accurate depiction of life on Earth
Having beaten this game two times in order to get all the story branches, I can say the second play through wasn't worth it, and I should have been out mowing my lawn instead.
Having said that, do whatever you want. I don't care.
P.S.
Nothing.
