The game is good. The music starts to grown on you. You'll start to be like, "This jazz solo is a banger"
I recently started playing this game offline on my tablet with the touchscreen. I am playing 100% touchscreen-only games lately, on my Surface Pro 4. The map can be a little glitchy when you try to look around with touchscreen (which you normally don't need to do) but you can still select all the states.
I got about 25 states completed and the map has stopped updating. The game no longer proceeds. Perhaps I'm making some kind of goofy mistake. I don't get it.
Not sure what to do as I've already purchased everything in the store and I don't feel like starting all the way over, perhaps only to find the game broke again when I get back here. I also can't seem to figure out how to find technical support.
It is not a friendly game at the start. I had like an amazing 35 card combo when I was new and still failed the stage.
But assuming my borked game is just a fluke, I do recommend the game if you like solitaire games.
This is a decent casual solitaire game of the style of Faerie Solitaire. It's fun, relaxing, and so overall a positive review. However, there are many versions of this kind of solitaire game on Steam, and I prefer the many variations of Jewel Match Solitaire over this, though they are more expensive here on Steam.
Catchy go back to. Lengthy, USA states are so many to open a franchise chain in. Story is background but interesting with a humorous touch. Mini games are simple but spring up in the pack or out of the blue which can be fun. The actual solitaire element is fairly easy and combo's can be chained quickly as the cards are easy on the eye. Rewards through the game keep you playing for additional cooking tools for purchasing as also are the achievements which are well placed. Good for the casual library.
Fairly typical solitaire game with a story that evolves as you go.
The voice acting is fine- easy to understand and well done in terms of inflection and with the right "feels".
Game runs fine out of the box on Windows 10 v. 22H2 64 bit Pro- no compatibility or tweaking needed. Steady frame rates on an i9 9900K with a 2070 RTX super.
Not many settings to adjust- though I do recommend turning the music down before you begin. The music is pleasant enough, but the default setting is a bit loud to my ears.
The minigames that pop up during play (an extra card added to the deck) can be a fun little breather, or an annoyance. I found them to be a mix of both- they do not seem to have any effect on cash earned or "luck" for the rest of the hand- just an interruption in card play. Luckily, you can skip them if you don;t want to play them. The minigames in the main menu are more challenging, if you are looking for that- they also appear to have no effect on the main game. Just something to so if you like more challenging solitaire.
You can replay any level at any time- farming perfects can be done on any level (easiest on the first level of the first map). You do not need to get a perfect (clear all cards) or 3 stars on every level. If you want to- go for it. If not, just skip that level and come back to it later, after you've been able to buy some upgrades in the in-game store (in-game cash, no real world money needed). Once you buy an item, it becomes active and available in every level before or after.
The grind is going to be for cash-in-hand. The "earn X-cash" achievements require you to have it all at once- it is not a cumulative total. You can grind for cash the same way you grind for Perfect games- find an easy level and just restart it and replay it over and over. Even if you fail a level, the game does not take cash away from you, it just keeps adding up.
Graphics are nothing special but they are pretty enough, though the settings become repetitive after a while. You have to open a new restaurant in all 50 US states, so expect to see the same dining room backgrounds repeatedly. The story isn't that deep, but it fits the game is adds nice flavor to it (Chef's Solitaire- flavor...heh.).
It's a fine casual solitaire game- there are some tough levels, but again, don't stress. You can always o go back to them after you've progressed and have upgrades that will make things much easier. Save up to get the wild card first, add the rest before it later. The ones at the bottom of the list are quite useful, and refill their cooldowns quickly. The layouts get more difficult as you go, but upgrades make it difficult to not complete a level and get 3 stars and a Perfect once you open your 8th or 9th restaurant. I haven't gotten far enough to know if levels up into the 20s, 30s and 40s become stupidly difficult, but I do expect the layouts to become more complex and take more careful thinking and strategy to clear.
Full price would be fine- on sale it's a steal.
It does have Trading Cards- but they drop very slowly. My first card dropped at 3.6 hours of playtime, the second at 5.1 hours of playtime, and at review time I have 7.1 hours of playtime in- waiting for the third card to drop. So- don't expect to idle the game for 4 hours and have all 4 cards dropped. Just play, and they will eventually drop.
(quick edit to fix some typos)
Fun card game with a story and over 500 levels spanning across all the states of USA.
Has mini-games and different kitchen utensils that you can buy using the in-game cash to help you along the way.
If you are an achievement hunter try to buy the Grinder, Spoon and Cleaver as early as you can to get the 3 achievements for using each of those items 50 times (plus these 3 items will help with the combo achievements)
I got this on sale for less than £1 and was definitely worth it for 20+ hours of play.
Meh. I guess it's ok for less than $1.
It's an ok one-up-one-down solitaire game, but for some reason it has mini games scattered randomly throughout.
This game also has an overarching storyline, which has no effect on the game at all.
Unfortunately this game has a limited number of power-up items for you to buy. There is also no option to buy wild cards or jokers, so after buying all of the power-ups, any gold coins you earn are useless.
You can replay a level as many times as you want/need.
IN the settings there is an option for "auto finish", which will automatically finish the game when you've unlocked all "chef hat" cards. If you turn this off, you will need to use all of the cards on the board (or run out of cards in the draw-pile) in order to finish the level.
The good:
The solitaire is balanced, on the easy/casual-side, with good unlockable power-ups.
There are a helluva lot of levels. More than 30 hours worth for me.
The meh:
Mini-games are fun, but once you don't need cash in the late game, I found myself skipping them.
The art, story and theme were okay, but I really wish I'd gotten background art that reflected the state/stage I was in.
The bad:
Like so many other solitaire games, you end up getting most of your power-ups about halfway through. Which makes money meaningless in the late game. The last 10 hours was a bit of a slog.
Verdict: It's not the best solitaire on Steam, but it's a solid entry. Wait for a sale, though.
If you enjoy solitaire but were tired of the heavy-handed plot exposition of a Faerie sipping tea with a Wizard for 40 levels, then this is the game for you. Beyond the intro, this game makes no illusions about being anything except 480 levels of TriPeaks (eg +/-) solitaire. Well, some random cards do give one-minute mini-games of Pipe Dream, Diner Dash, Concentration and Jewel Match-3, but you can play them or skip them as you desire. I suppose they justify why you are playing this online as opposed to on the living room table. As with most BigFish solitaire games, you have the option to buy 'power-ups' such as Jokers, Undo, and the ability to see hidden cards. In conclusion, if you have a hankering for a game that lets you put a 3 or a 5 on a 4, and the living room table is too far away, then this IS the game for you!
So if you want a basic solitaire game that has a LOT of levels, this one fits the bill. The story doesn't really add all that much to the game, so if that's what you're looking for, I'm sorry but you're likely to be disappointed, however this game really does have a lot of levels to play so that's often worth it. This solitaire version is just okay.
A long Solitaire journey through the states of USA,
over 48 States, 480 Stages.
Mostly workable, except for few stages that needs some luck.
After 30 states, a long grind of another 180 stages to unlock the last final Complete achievement.
Ended with over 2 million in cash with all three stars.
Got weary half way across, wondering when it will ever ends.
Playable with some patience.
Another decent game of Solitaire with a few variations. Collect money and stars as you play solitaire. Money helps you buy upgrades in the shop for special moves, undos, and more. Stars allow you to open up new cities to go through more Solitaire games. All 50 states are represented here with 10 games in each. So this will give you 500 games to play.
Decent game, works well, and perfect for that casual game you're looking for to play for only 5-10 minutes.
Its not a bad solitaire game .. and I like the way you can skip the mini games if you're solitairing-yourself-to-sleep as I often do. Over 12 hours playtime and I'm not finished yet, so I'd say its definitely worth the full price.
I enjoyed this game - I prefer it to Legends of Solitaire which is also made by Revills. The backstory is pretty good considering you're playing solitaite, it's not like you can get something on the level of Mass Effect with a card game. Nevertheless the voice acting is professional enough to make it a step up from some other indie games. I liked the added twist of the eggs and grease stains on cards, and that you got coins to buy items to help you with that. I wasn't so keen on the mini games, especially the burger one, which I just skipped whenever it came up.
It's pictched at a good level - not too easy, but you won't be tearing your hair out to get a perfect score on each stage. Again, I liked the ability to replay individual stages to get an extra star (which you can't really do as well or comfortably in Legends). I finished all the achievements and the game in about 30 hours which is excellent value if you buy if for $3 like I did. I'm not sure whether I'd reinstall it now that I've completed it but I enjoyed the time I did spend on it. If you like solitaire games, it's up there with Regency Solitaire which is also worth a go.
I sadly cannot recommend this game due to too much randomness affecting whether or not you will succeed at a level, which reults in you having to repeat the same level 20 times untill you are lucky with cards - which can be infuriating. On the plus side, the game has a lot of levels and minigames to explore, which despite being similar are still fun to play. Unfortunetly steam achievements are very grindy and once again (those that are streak based) are luck based. The price is very low which is great. The cooking theme seems however unnecessary and in my opinion is underdeveloped. Overall it's a 4/10 for me.
Another fun casual solitare game, good for a 30 minute blast to fill in some time. The mini games are fun for a while but when they pop up when chasing the end game I tend to skip it to continue with the main game.
Anyway, games like these are great to tune out with.
I give it, 7 Arm farts out of 8.
If you're familiar with and enjoy the many solitaire games currently on Steam, then you'll certainly find yourself right at home with Chef Solitaire: USA. With entertaining gameplay and charming presentation, for a title as reasonably priced as this you simply cannot go wrong. Curated by: Chudah's Corner
Chef Solitaire: USA uses the golf rule set, which involves playing cards in ascending or descending order until all have been removed from the board. There's a bit more to it than that, but it's a very easy to learn version of the game that will appeal to those looking for a more relaxing experience. While there is indeed some thought needed in play, once you get the hang of things you'll be a solitaire pro in no time.

The game is divided into the 48 continental states, each with 10 boards to complete. As you clear the boards, you'll earn money to purchase power-ups that will help you play cards much easier. Chaining combos is the meat of the game play as bigger chains increase your score multiplier, thus rewarding even more money at the end of each board. But what I found most interesting is that the board objectives do not necessarily encourage you to clear all cards, which adds a bit of strategy to the play. Completing the requirements ends the stage regardless of whether or not all cards have been removed. So, if you're aiming for Perfects, many times you'll need to make a decision call on whether you should risk failure and pass over a winning card in the hope that the right cards are in your deck to get you that full clear, or simply play it to finish up and move on. Of course, luck plays a factor in the draw with particularly bad layouts often requiring several retries if you don't have enough power-ups to get through them. But that comes with the territory in solitaire.
Sprinkled throughout the decks are mini-game cards that reward extra money. These timed games range from a Match-3 board to Memory Cards, but are fun little diversions that help mix things up as you play. There's an option to skip them if you choose, which I found myself doing from time to time as I zoned out to the less hectic pace of the solitaire boards, but I'd recommend doing them to build your cash for achievements.

There are three difficulty levels with the hardest having a low chance for mini-games, less points awarded per board and no King to Ace conversion, which substantially increases the difficulty of the game making achievements harder to complete. However, if you're looking for a more "pure" solitaire experience, this may just be the thing for you. Normal should strike a good balance for most players, with Easy offering a more zen-like experience as you clear the boards with ease.
The presentation is charming with beautiful hand-painted backgrounds and character art. Music is a highlight with jazzy piano selections serving as backdrop to the restaurant-themed levels. Well-written and entertaining journal entries are intermittently placed between states which detail the struggles and successes of the game's heroine as she conquers the US with her delicious cuisine. Altogether, this recipe makes for one tasty little card game.
Fans of solitaire, do not pass on this gem. For just $5, I clocked in 25 hours to 100%, and there's plenty more here if you decide to play it over again on Hard (or Easy if the mood so strikes). This is one of the most well-rounded solitaire experiences I've had on Steam and will certainly find myself back again when I need to scratch that solitaire itch.
Bottom Line: Highly recommended to all solitaire and casual gaming fans.
I've played this type of solitaire on my phone and on my PC for years. It's something that's easy to get into and pretty addictive at the same time. That's why when I saw Chef Solitaire: USA pop up on my Steam feed, I decided that it would be a fun, casual distraction from some of the more hardcore games in my list. And I wasn't wrong.
So what is it?
--------------
Chef Solitaire: USA is exactly what it says on the box: It's a solitaire game that takes place in the USA and has a restaurant theme. The game play involves finding a card that's either one higher or one lower than the one in your stack and clearing the board. There are a bunch of levels, but none of them really offer much diversity in the game play. A few add different perks to help you succeed better in the game and a few have extra obstacles that you have to overcome, but there's nothing too extreme here. And that's okay.
Is there anything good about this game?
------------------------------------------
Yep. It's a solitaire game, which is as addicting of a card game as you'll get. The artwork is nice, the music isn't obtrusive, and there are fun little things in the game that set it apart from others like it. The first thing that comes to my mind are the mini-games that sometimes pop up during a game. They're fun, quick, and give you a little extra money to incentivize you to do them.
The other fun aspect is the money system. A lot of the time you can clear a level without having to remove that many cards from the field, but by being risky and clearing more cards, you get a little more money. So what is money for? You can buy upgrades that do certain things, like reveal X% of cards on the field or let you know what your next draw is going to be.
Is there anything bad about this game?
-----------------------------------------
Not really. It's a very well put-together casual card game that isn't meant to be played constantly for hours a day. It's definitely what I would call a "lunch-break" game and isn't for someone looking for an epic experience.
Let's talk about the achievements.
-------------------------------------
There are 20 achievements in Chef Solitaire: USA and they all look very easy to attain. This one should be an easy 100% for achievement hunters. Of the achievements I've gotten at the time of writing, all of them are from just playing the game. There are no esoteric play styles that you have to adapt to in order to earn that obscure achievement. It's pretty straight forward. And that's a good thing.
So, overall, do I recommend Chef Solitaire: USA?
---------------------------------------------------
Absolutely. The game at full price is only $5 and at the time of writing, it was 25% off, which is more than reasonable for the amount of entertainment you're going to get out of this one. If you need to take a break from killing zombies or just want something that isn't too involved before bedtime, this game is definitely worth picking up. Before you know it, you'll be telling yourself "Just one more level".
Chef Solitaire: USA gets a resounding yes from me.
There are many nights where I come home from work and just want to play something casual. A game that doesn't require full screen mode, sounds, or my full attention to play...allowing me to stop without enduring countdowns or a permanent death in game. A perfect fit while I watch/listen to a tv show that aired that night. Stopping gameplay here and there when something crazy goes down in the show.
Chef Solitatire: USA fits my needs perfectly. It is by far my favourite solitaire game/casual game on Steam at the moment. Not only is it visually appealing, but the story that goes with it is great too! It even has trading cards and achievements as well which is always a plus in my books.
The levels themselves are pretty straight forward. Some are easier than others. This game does have a star system where you try to obtain three stars per level. You don't have to get the full three to continue onto the next level but you do have to meet a certain quota of stars to open the next restaurant. If you enjoy casual games as I do, you won't mind doing levels over and over to get the perfect three star score.
The $5 you spend on this game is well worth it. Plenty of gameplay, mini games, and twists on certain levels. Who would of thought trying to figure out what cards to use in order to get get bacon, grease, or other antics off your cards in order to use that row would actually be fun!! xD
Kudos to the husband/wife dev team from The Revills Games. Steve and Kylie, you two have created an outstanding game for us gamers who enjoy playing games in this genre.
Casual gamers & friends, don't pass this title up. A++
Very similar to all the other solitaire games out there, and that's a good thing. If you like those games, this is a safe purchase. It doesn't disappoint on any aspect. No bugs, so far as I can tell. Fun and relaxing.
