I am 32 years old.
My ex-wife and I have a daughter together, and we adopted our son together. Both are now 4 years old.
When we were going through our separation, I felt lost and unhappy. I was self-destructive. One day, I was so angry with everything spiraling out of control that I punched a concrete wall in a moment of overwhelming emotion. This resulted in breaking my fifth metacarpal in my right hand—the hand I worked with, played games with, and used to carry my children to bed—the hand I desperately needed to ensure I could continue providing.
Upon learning the severity of the self-inflicted damage, I became almost suicidal. Keep in mind that just a few months before this, I was the happiest man, with no history of depression or anxiety. I had never experienced anger outbursts, nor was I the type to break down and cry, but I was in a tough situation that truly prevented me from seeing the light on the other side.
With nothing better to do, I looked for a game I could play WITH ONE HAND while recovering. Somehow, I stumbled upon this game and read some of the comments. I decided it was worth a try... I must admit I didn't beat the game, nor did I play as much as some of you. In fact, I may have played this game for only a day or two. That being said, after doing so, I had a new joy and hope for life. I managed to leave behind the pain and suffering that had been thrust upon me. I could experience the joy and happiness of other people. I relaxed for 5 ♥♥♥♥ minutes listening to this music, long enough to realize that I would be okay.
After realizing this, I turned off the game and went back to work. My hand hurt a lot, but I was motivated. I stopped feeling so sorry for myself and became the father I needed to be at that moment, not the weak boy I was behaving like.
Today, I am close friends with the mother of my children. We don't fight, argue, or say hurtful things to each other. We are parents and friends.
Now I have 3 children. My third child is, wait, ALSO 4 YEARS OLD. The woman I am with was going through a very similar situation at the time of my separation, and we just unexpectedly stumbled into each other's lives. We have been dating for a year and are very happy together.
Moral of the story: you never know what life has in store for you, and if I had given up when all odds were against me, I wouldn't be where I am today. This silly little game helped me realize that.
Thank you.

first it crashed then it decides to play on my secondary monitor. Characters look as original as the name of the game suggests.
Game never works!!!!! Always crashes. i still have not had a chance to play it.
Very shallow... few maps... not something you can play for hours...
Cheap though :)
thank you my family will no longer acknowledge my existence i am utterly and completely alone in this world game of the year
the whole thing is actually a scam.
no updates.
its abandoned.
dev acc tells sweet lies.
chances are that you already got a non-licenced copy.
then booted it.
then quited it.
then deleted it.
TL;DR: 10/10 would trust never again.
Pretty fun ARPG with some base building/roguelike features. There are four classes in game and each has four special attack/defense skills to invest in besides the standard stats. You choose random encounters across a "world map" and up grade your town with materials earned from each encounter. Most of the game feels stable, only had 2 crashes in all my time played. However, on occasion some maps will load with no encounters spawning on them, forcing you to exit back to the load screen.
Would like to have seen a few more map types as the journey across the world map gets a bit stale as you progress. Boss fights were ok , liked that each had some diversity. Overall enjoyable game that can be played at your own pace.
The core gameplay is arena style combat that feels boring and clunky. Borders of the level can be hard to see, allowing your to get trapped without first realizing why.
The non-action gameplay might be good, but I'm not giving that a chance since the core gameplay just isn't any fun.
I am enjoying this game so far, the only thing i cannot stand is the art of the people portraits, (The art needs to be deleted completely, even if they don't replace it). The monster art is awesome though. Gameplay is fun, combat is a little rough around the edges (point and click needs help).
I would like to see item slots for armor and weapons.
5/10
It's cheap and fun but not much depth.
Hoping the Dev's add new content soon as it's a cool little game!
09-28-2016 – picked this game up today and messed around with it for a few moments. And already I have to say I like it and it has a lot of potential, but it still needs a lot of work, especially the UI and controls. So with that being said I think ill hold onto the game and see where it goes as far as progress.
Lets just get this out of the way first. This is not a rouge like. It is a rouge light or rouge like like, depending on what you prefer to call that genre.
The progression system in the game is generally speaking good but it does have a major problem. The resources needed to upgrade the structures in town are initially only given out by the keep once you have successfully completed an encounter so you’d presume that it would be a good idea to upgrade the keep as soon as possible to get more resources after each encounter. The problem here is that the keeps first upgrade cost more then any other buildings last upgrade. This means that by the time you can afford to upgrade the keep you can afford to upgrade some other building that is more likely to enhance your chances of survival. Basically there is no reason to upgrade the keep unless you have nothing left to upgrade at that time and this only occurs if you have maxed out all other structures or the remaining upgrades are locked behind an encounter limit, which only the experience vault has at this time. I would suggest that the keeps upgrade cost be reduced or a different structure with a lower upgrade cost handle rewarding resources.
Looking at the different kinds of encounters I’d say that the hostile, defense, and friendly encounters make sense but the gamble encounter seems pointless as it is. As far as I can tell there are now benefits to doing a gamble encounter over any other that is available at the encounter level your on. The only reason to choose to do a gamble encounter is either you have no other option or you are hoping to avoid one of the other encounter options. Honestly the gamble encounter should either be removed or it should provide some kind of enhanced reward for completion, maybe you could pay renowned, money, or resources to up the difficulty and if you win get back what you paid plus some amount based on difficulty.
The weakest point of the game, the combat. If this where a mobile game I’d say the combat is good, but its not and it isn’t. Almost the entire game can be played with only five buttons and three of those you only use to open up menus and that’s a problem when you’ve made a game like this on PC. Having the abilities and items tied to the number keys isn’t a problem, in-fact that’s exactly how it should be. The problem comes in how you control your characters movements and attacks. Both these actions are controlled by the left click of the mouse. Attacks occur automatically as soon as the target you clicked on is in range, so the flow of combat is simply click on target wait until its dead repeat and maybe use and ability or item if you have to. This makes the core game play loop very dull and disengaging. The only times it becomes a bit more involved is when you have to kite an enemy, usually as the shaman, and even then it is just attack until the enemy gets to close then run away making it two clicks instead of one.
The combat in this game needs to be reworked. Either give the player more control over the character they are using, have them control more then one in an encounter, or make the levels more like dungeons with rooms and halls so that the player has something to explore and move around in. As it stands now the combat just kills this game. It is not terrible but it is far from great.
Great rogue-like! I've been waiting for a top-down Rogue Legacy for some time and this game provides.
Fun Diablo-like hack&slash combat, easy to learn, and quite polished for an early access game.
First thing first, it's a early access..
It's nowhere near "diablo" or "torchlight". I'm sorry to say but this game gets old way to early. There is absolute no replay value. When you build and upg all your buidlings, which takes 3-4 hours of gameplay, you are done. There is no loot, only the items you can buy at the two stores, weapons and armor. which means you allways grind each round for the same two items (the best sword\axe\staff and the best armor) It's monotony at best. which says alot
Don't get me wrong, the dev's are quick to respond, cudos for that. But i wont recomend. You will get bored really, really fast.
Controls are a little funky, and when playing the shaman and using the speed boost spell, you can barely run properly
You can't put words like Diablo or Torchlight in the description because they have NOTHING to do with This.
First time I clicked PLAY it crashed, after a reboot it's ok. (When do you need to restart PC these days!)
The hero movement is terrible, you can only walk in 8 directions instead of 360 degrees (remember Diablo 1) it's 2016!
Some skills go in the direction your character is facing instead of where your mouse is pointing.
Sounds are rediculous and cartoonish. Some will like it I guess...
You only play in small square arenas, kill all monsters and win.
Maybe in a couple of months I'll give this another go. Since then I don't recommend this game. At all
Roguelike Diablo crossed with FTL with a town mechanic that assures that some of your hard work persists after characters die. This is a very cool game with a unique art style and a novel combination of tried and true game mechanics.
Lots of potention. Really like the art direction. Excited to see what comes next!
So far so good! This appears to have all of the softcore roguelike features ie; Permadeath, Upgradable Town (Improved weapons/armor, enhanced starting levels/gold for new toons, enhanced resource gain etc), and merchants to purchase new gear. Resources are gained each time a stage is cleared, allowing you to make upgrades to your town.
There are currently two classes. One a Dwarf warrior, and the second a tribal female Shamman. They play as you'd expect, standard melee and caster respectively. You gain levels quickly, with which you enhance Strength, Agility or Intelligence, and increase the power of inherent skills. The basic stats also have varying effects on the two different characters, alluding to lots of variation as new ones are released.
The combat controls are intuitive and familiar. The AI is predictiable, melee attackers bum rush you, and casters and ranged hang back and fire away. You start with a good variety of skills, and the combat is fun from the start, and fast.
When you start, and after each stage is completed, you go to a World Map, where your next encounter will occur. You usually have a choice of varying encounters ie; standard battle, defense (which scales to your level) and/or a diplomacy option which is unique and offers rewards based upon your dialogue choices.
Obviously as this is the first day of early access, all these things will change and develop, but the first impression is a great one. I did just have my first crash, immediately prior to writing this. The screen locked up while fighting, and then crashed. But this is to be expected so early on, and I'll be heading back in shortly to level my next sacificial lamb.
P.S. The crash merely reverted my save data to the previous town visit. So roughly 30 seconds of playtime was lost.
