After winning awards on PSVR, Oculus Rift, and Gear VR, Darknet is now available for the HTC Vive and also INCLUDES A NON-VR VERSION for those without a headset!
Features
DEEP GAMEPLAY: “Darknet is the closest thing to a killer app for the system... It seems simple at first, but Darknet quickly grows to require a lot of second- and third-order logical thinking, under what can be a strict time limit. More than anything else, Darknet was what I was excited to play every time.” - Ars Technica
CYBERPUNK HACKING: “Darknet is the hacking VR game we’ve all been waiting for since our first viewing of HACKERS, Johnny Mnemonic, or Tron… Everything I wanted out of a hacking game since 1995. The future is finally here and I’m cracking nodes, dropping viruses, staying one-step ahead of security.” - BigSushi.fm
GREAT FOR VR: “When I dove into the cyberspace simulation, I lost myself in the illusion. My relationship to meat space was momentarily forgotten. And that’s precisely what a virtual reality game ought to do for the player… It is the best Oculus Rift game I’ve ever played.” - DailyDot
AWARD-WINNING:
- BEST GAMEPLAY - Proto Awards 2014
- FINALIST - IndieCade 2015
- GRAND PRIZE- Oculus VR Jam
CRITICALLY ACCLAIMED:
- "Darknet is one of the oldest VR games around, and still one of the best.” - The Verge
- “Enjoy solving puzzles? Strategizing? Does the description ‘cyberpunk hacking in virtual reality’ light up your eyes like Christmas morning? Darknet is reminiscent of Hollywood's appalling movie interpretation of "hacking" from the '90s, but it's fun and engaging.” - CNET
- “Completely worth your time. An interesting puzzle game where you have to hack into different computer system using an array of tools, it also winkingly makes fun of the 90s-era version of VR. If you ever wanted to pretend you were a hacker from the 1995 film Hackers, this is a pretty good place to start.” - Polygon
- "And therein lies the beauty of Darknet. The game is simple on its surface, yet it's filled with challenges that keep you pressing on to beat the next one. I thought I was going to play Darknet for 20 minutes or so to get a feel for the game. Little did I know, three hours would pass before I gazed upon (actual) reality again." - Tom's Hardware

Devs have abandoned this game. Don't bother buying this.
It's a hacking puzzle game, and being inside it adds another level to the experience.
I played this game when Samsung did their Gear VR. It's a great game.
2.3 hours is all I got out of this version, as it no longer works with the Index. It was fun while it lasted. Not worth the time to fix/research, as it seems many have left this game behind.
If you have the Index don't bother.
Really cool "hacking" style puzzle game with neat ascetic/theme. I First played it on Samsung VR in 2017 and I must say... It's just as good on PC without any VR headset.
When you play this game, you feel like this. You are Jobe from the Lawnmower Man and your objective is the hack everything and get to the Root. Plain and simple. easy to learn but how you really use your brain and think ahead before you act. Great Game nontheless
It's weird that there are so many different VR experiences to try, but I keep returning to Darknet.
A, on the surface, simple puzzle game. But it's very atmospheric, and the music and sound effects really enhance the scene being set.
And managing to solve a puzzle is just the right amount of satisfying. Either it's casual fun when playing an easier difficulty, seeing all the spheres be yours. Or the relief when hitting a level where you manage to make it with only seconds to spare.
Darknet. A simple, but oh so entertaining game, that I will continue returning to each time I feel like spending some quality time in VR but with no specific game in mind.
This was one of my favorite VR games for quite some time, then it suddenly stopped supporting Oculus controllers - or any controller that doesn't have a trackpad. I am unable to *turn* in the game, making it very difficult to navigate to other places. Moving the thumbsticks on my Quest touch controllers does nothing, as the game *expects* the trackpads from the vive controllers and I can find no way to fix this.
I'm leaving the comments open in the hopes the developer or anyone, really, can help me setup my Quest 2 Touch controllers to work with this game that I used to absolutely love.
Been a while since I last played, reinstalled and nothing registers anymore, can't look around or click on anything after the launch screen.
Great mind bending puzzles that get you brain working. All set in a techpunk world.
Works best in VR, but also great on PC and Steamdeck (with gyro enabled)
Nice logic puzzle. I've spent more time playing this than I'd realized. Runs on most hardware and certainly offers a challenge as you go.
A challenging game with very few shared rules, you can figure it out yourself or check out some online tips. Start with Reddit, but also check the Steam forums and stuff.

Cool game... it would be event better if the narrative was presented in a different way; you hack a place and you have impact in the world, but the way your impact is presented is too boring, a huge wall of text. Otherwise, great work folks ;)
There's nothing not to love or at least like about this game. A total of over 7 hours in, I still happily go back for a mission or 2 and 'stick it to the man'. As often in hacking games, it narrates the hacking concept, without getting too technical.
A mission drops you into a network, a network contains nodes to hack and each node is a (variations on the same) mini-puzzle to take over the node's core. The challenges themselves are easy (and with enough resources) trivial enough, but the time-limit for a mission is what makes the game challenging. All in all a well-balanced setup. I like the fact that each mission has a short description of what you're hacking into for what, and then after completing the mission, a new news-item will reflect this. Nice touch.
The graphics are simple enough, but the contrast is perfect and effects are impressive.
I'm pretty sure that, (since there's literally elements that are marked as not yet available and there's stuff to unlock) there's depth's in the gameplay I haven't seen yet. So I can't think of stuff I'd want to add or change.
All in all: Definitely worth the money for a fun and engaging bit of cyberpunk gameplay. :)
I love this game! I can play this for hours on end, learning new patterns! Haven't gotten too far, but the difficulty is already starting to ramp up quick.
it's ok, but it does get repetitive after a short time. Furthermore the later missions get almost impossible plus you are constantly under a time limit, something I really don't enjoy in games. All in all it's ok, great game to get on sale.
Very simply in design, but it works beautifully.
It will get a repetitive rather quickly, but then again, this kind of games always gets repetitive quickly.
At least, the puzzles seems to be fairly random :)
Interesting puzzler. A "hacking" game that works with nodes that has to be cleared a la minesweeper. Different types of "malware" you shoot at the nodes do different things and depending on how you clear a node you can then move in and take over the target node. A bit of strategy is involved. Some node are difficult and some are dead easy, even though they look complex once you see them.
Darknet makes a very good use of VR. Just drop the bloody controller rumbling/vibration, it adds NOTHING to the experience other than to drain the battery and shorten play time. I wish Neuromancer was like this when it came out in the 90s, unlike NM from back then, this is an actual game with a challenge and some challenging game mechanics than a linear RPG with the game mechanics thrown on top. Recommended.
Really enjoyed this on Daydream, and it's even better on PCVR. Very Immersive hacking game with multiple tools you purchase by hacking softer target to make money. The game feels polished and well made whilst it has comfort options.
The hacking is engaging once you start figuring out a strategy and a timer puts pressure on you to hack the target before your network intrusion is detected. Successfully hacking a target gives you bitcoin which you can use ingame to buy upgrades from your home menu.
I'm using Valve Index and it works great with the knuckle controllers which have the benefit of feeling light in the hands so comfortable for the hour or two you can easily lose hacking in Darknet!
Odd that a game that could be totally enjoyed on a flat screen has become one of my absolute favorite VR titles. It's just so immersive! I feel like I'm hacking a zaibatsu on my Ono-Sendai while my street-samurai partner holds off the indentured security forces. Can't give higher praise than that!
I'm not sure why this game is so addicting, but like many VR games after playing for 5 minutes, 2 hours had gone by. The balance of puzzle and strategy makes this game challenging and extremely satisfying. The graphics on this game are exceptional; if your introducing someone to VR for the first time, Darknet would surely impress them. The tutorial doesnt fully explain how the game is played and so figuring out the mechanism of the viruses will require some puzzle solving in itself.
A very fun and addictive seated VR experience. The graphics are also surprisingly good. Recommend to anyone who loves puzzle games.
