The stealthy Raptor pirates are always looking for their loot, especially if that loot is your burnt-out remains. Will you have what it takes to beat out the competition and dominate the market?

This game has got some bugs that stop it from being as fun as it could be for a little indie game. For example, selling the ore does not always work and requires finding just the right spot to activate the button. Little problems like that compile to make the experience feel cheap and incomplete. I think there is potential for a fun couch co-op roguelite here, but it still needs some work.
I had forgotten Ithis was in my library for a while. It's a fun little passtime game. Though my one problem with it is that you can only buy fuel and ammo one unit by one unit. You start out with 50 capacity for each, but as you upgrade your ammo supply and fuelt ank both reach into the hundreds, and you have to option to buy stuff by 10/50/100 etc so if you want to fill up you just have to sit there for a hot minute pressing the interaction key. At least it works while holding said key so you don't have to spam it. And you have to doth that twice as ammo and fuela re bought separately.
Aside from that it's pretty fun. ALmost everything you shoot wil ldrop money or items that can be sold, the goal is to acquire as much as possible. If you get enough money you unlock settings to tweak your games (though they kinda rtificially inflate the playtime, but a positive way to see it is it lets the player get used to everything the game has to offer gradually).
Aside from those game tweakers, when you reach certain money thersholds, new stuff will happen on the map like a new enemy type.
Overall it's pretty basic and might seem barebones, but honestly for the price it's worth it, especially if you wanna mess around with a friend (local coop or steam remote play). Definitely recommend this.
Fun little shooter, well worth the price. Good basic gameplay loop.
This is a great idea for a game, but so much about it just feels off.
First of all, there are plenty of cool things. It's a nice short game, it doesn't waste your time and you could easily jump back into it after a long break without having to remember what you were doing or how to play. All of the alien races are dinosaurs, which is great. The main progress comes in the form of unlocking new rules to the game, which you can also turn on and off if there's one that feels stupid to you. The low poly cartoony graphics are nice and charming.
But there's bad stuff. The ships you get aren't very interesting. You can't upgrade your armor or cargo capacity. Upgrading weapons or engines mainly relies on you hunting civilians and cop ships, you can't get any upgrades by hunting criminals. Shooting always feels really wonky, like there's a 50% chance of your shot going remotely where you aimed it. The Supply & Demand rule is completely broken, unless you exclusively go after reddium, you and the depot will go completely out of ammo and you can't get more, and you can't exclusively go after reddium because enemies will come after you.
And there are a few things that are sorta neutral. Everything is randomized, so you've got some potential for interesting and unique moments, but because everything is so fast and death is always looming, you tend to see all that there is to see pretty quickly. The ship controls don't feel very much like a ship, it's your average twin-stick shooter and feels the same as a person wandering around. More ship-like controls might be more fun, but everything is so random and sudden that having to fly a ship at the same time would probably be a great big mess, so it's probably the right decision in the end.
Ultimately, for such a low price, that's all forgiveable, it just makes me sad to see great potential turn into mediocrity. It costs less than a movie ticket, and it'll keep you entertained for longer.

TLDR: Twinstick instance based freelancer. Fun but beatable in one sitting. Needs patching but dev abandonned due to contract with a new studio. Limited content. Grindy.
This is a one small map containing a few central hotspots. A police station spawning police cars, a fuel and ammo station and a mining station to sell ore. You go out and find cash lying around, get ore, and kill pirates to sell bounty items at the police station. You die respawn and as you unlock more things the world gets more populated.
The game hits a brickwall mid late game as the only thing the game can do is increase aggressivity and spawn frequency of hostiles to try to keep the balance. Quickly becomes overwhelming. Some features are not well implemented. The mercenary routinely loses track of your ship or stop helping. The hotspots to sell often need to be entered and left multiple times to register that you want to sell cargo. The aiming with the twinstick is imprecise and finnicky. Foes spawn suddenly on you in a cheap manner. Crates containing upgrades are SUPER rare making the whole upgrade feature mostly never used.
The music is good but only has a few tracks and by the end of beating the game you will get a bit fed up with it. Same thing with the visuals, they are decent for what they are but they get old fast, especially the really lazy background for the space featury odd distorted square shapes.
Conclusion: If this was expanded it and refined it could have been a good game, perhaps even a cult classic, but given the lapse of time this has been out it is pretty clear that the dev will never return to it. It has been 1+ year since someone asked if this could be made open source and no answer from dev either. I had my fun and it is sort of a decent twinstick freelancer but it has no replayability, has major flaws and is not terribly memorable with no plot, and only the disonsaur theme for the ships for flavor. Removing local content permanently and hiding from library for declutter.
Cashtronauts is a fun small game. It's really different from conventional space shoot 'em up in that you're not flooded by enemies and power-ups: instead it's a slow-paced game of exploration with some confrontations and a bit of management. It's full of small but meaningful decisions.
Now I wish the concept of risks and rewards was pushed further (especially since some "risks" involve absolutely no downside, like having a mercenary available to hire), and it does get repetitive after a while, but if you play in short sessions from time to time, it's a lot of fun! Demanding enough that you don't get bored, but not so much that you don't get to relax.
cons:
Price is a bit high
short, the game itself can be completely beaten within a couple hours, including the achievements, 4 ships, and 9 risks to unlock
pros:
music will put a beat in your step
cute graphics
good game when you want to play not think
hopefully there will be a cashtronauts 2 with a lot more content
It's a cool idea, but it feels like a demo rather than a full game because there's not that much content here. Pick it up if it's really cheap during a sale because it's pretty enjoyable for a couple of hours, but there's nothing to keep you coming back so I can't really say it's an essential purchase. Also you'll probably run into a bug that causes you to start generating ridiculous amounts of cash which basically breaks the game and kills any replayability there may have been left.
Fun while it lasts, it just doesn't last that long. Ideally a sequel will expand upon everything here (and maybe even offer more than one level) but I wouldn't hold my breath...
This game's premis of having to always "get cash" for stuff seems to get in the way of having fun. Also, I've had more graphically intense games play a lot better on my old laptop, while this game seems to struggle, even with the simplistic graphics. Not at all recommended. Asked for a refund...
It's tight. The game escalates quickly and offers a lot of room for skill, but in a cartoony inertia kind of way.
Cashtronauts [Full Release Review]
This game is extremely fun and entertaining even with just two people to mess around with and find new ships. Also there are no guides since it is relatively new so you really have to find out yourself. Granted, there is little time needed to get all challenges and ships with multiple people but it was a blast while playing.
Overall, Cashtronauts is a great game is well worth the money if you have some cash lying around or are looking for a good game to play with your friends.
7/10
Cashtronauts is a great premise for a game, and it actually plays really well, but ultimately there isn't enough end-game content for the asking price. This plays like an amazing demo to a larger game. In fact, for that larger game I'd actually pay more, but I have to judge what is in front of me.
Essentially, this is a roguelite space shooter. You collect money, buy upgrades that allow you to collect more money, and repeat. The catch is that a lot of the upgrades have a risk/reward factor. The upgrades are wildly different and really are very cool. One may be the ability to purchase a mercenary ship that follows you and helps fight, and another upgrade may be the introduction of another type of currency.
Controller support is great, and playing local co-op split screen was a decent amount of fun. Even though I have two more upgrades to go - I see where this is going. The ceiling is near and knowing this already makes me want to stop grinding. Because, like most progressive roguelites, this is a grindfest. A fun one, nonetheless.
Pros:
+Definately a neat setting and something that hasn't exactly been done before
+Controller support is good
+Co-op split screen is a very welcome addition
+Has that addictive quality of Slither.io (not sure why, but it makes me think of that game lol)
+Upgrades are all unique and definitely change how the game is played
Cons:
-Small amount of content for the asking price, IMO
-Once you know where the ceiling is, it is hard to keep motivated to play
Yeah, it's fun, but I'd wait for a sale. The most you'll likely get out of this is a fun afternoon.
Peace,
Enjoyable space combat game if you are play in co-op. I think the content is a little light for 1 player but with more than one the game shines and is a good additional to a co-op focused collection.
Not much to the game besides try again and again only to suddenly have pirates swarming for no good reason other than a timer reached it's countdown. Not much fun
I had been waiting for this to come out on Xbox One, but I got impatient and simple bought the PC version. I can't believe I waited so long. This game is very addictive and quite fun. It has LOADS of potential.
I think there are some areas that can be expanded upon, some UI tweaks, and controller corrections, but NONE of this detracts from the game itself. It's a solid, fun, lovable game.
I cannot wait to see whatelse this developer has in store for us.
Good solid, basic entertainment.
I fear it won't last the test of time, but for a short while, I find it an excelent diversion.
The good: simple basic gameplay. Easy to figure out what is your goals are, and what you need to do to accomplish them.
And, most important, it is fun!
The bad: upgrading your ship is clunky. You can only upgrade once, and the others you should sell, but you are not told that.... opps. You can upgrade your ammo and fuel, but not the "shield" of your ship. Only way to get health back is via leveling up. Leveling up doesn't scale as you level up - so if you are getting a 200% bonus to your loot, leveling up from L1 to L3 basically is 2 seconds - which feels like a waste of those heals as they get hard to come by.
Would really recommend potion health drops, and a shield / armor mod and a more damage / shoot more bullets mod.
I expect I will get about 12-15 hours total in before I get tired of the game - but for the price I paid that is an excelent deal - and I hope the dev finds it worth wild as well.
Great game! Interesting concept too. Really fun when playing with a small group :). I look all the time for good local games where you can play with buddies, and this has made the list.
Good looking.
Nice tracks.
Controls just like a pimped out spaceship.
Yes you will be duckin them people.
If Asteroids had been bout dat life.
Would stay true $ get paid again
Fun little indie game with simple rules: you're piloting a twin-stick spaceship (playing with a controller) in which you must collect as much money as possible until you die.
They are several ways to collect cash: blowing up other spaceships (enemy and/or ally), collecting materials, destroying crates, and so on.
The most interesting feature is the risk system: you unlock "risk" while progressing in the game. Those risks give you new ways to earn more money when enable, but it also comes with a hazard (ex: raptor ships will drop priceless materials when destroyed, but they'll now have a cloaking device).
The game has a single and a multiplayer mode (local only). I’m enjoying the game so far in the single player mode, but I can tell that it has a lot of potential to be an amazing party game!
Hope it'll have a multiplayer mode via network!!
Also love the retro 8-bit soundtrack!
A compulsive twin stick asteroid-mining rogue-like set in procedurally generated space with a brilliant "risk" system where at the start of the game, you can choose to enable any or all of 10 different scenarios to make the game more difficult in return for a higher percentage of profit.
One risk makes your armour weak so only one hit can be taken. Another adds gold to some asteroids but also adds competition in the form of big mining ships.
The game eases you in gently, the 10 risks are unlocked as you play, letting you add more challenge as you get more confident.
You have a starting area which includes an ammo and fuel shop, a shop to sell minerals to, a place for upgrading your ship parts and a police station which rewards cash-monies for any teeth you bring them as proof of a baddy bashed.
From here, you go out exploring space, blowing up asteroids to find juicy minerals to sell on for profit, searching for cash crates, ship upgrades to beef up your engines and weapons and bad lads who drop teeth and cash on death.
Blasting benign civilian ships into space dust and collecting their cash and hopefully ship upgrade parts will set off a GTA style wanted state where police will chase you around the starting area until it wears off.
The game keeps you on your toes, every time I've gotten cocky or I've started to relax a bit, I've been chinned.
The starting screen shows your own personal high score and the highest score from around the world for that day which spurs you on to have "just one more shot".
This is early access but feels like a complete and polished game already. There are no reasons not to jump into this right now.
60fps, plays great with both pad and keyboard and mouse.
Highly recommended.
The music is also worth a special mention, can't stop bopping in my chair while playing this :D
Very fun and addictive little game! Graphics and Audio are really charming.
