I really enjoyed playing this game because the hacking mechanics felt simple and a little challenging. And if you're expecting this game to last you over 10 hours, you might be disappointed since it can completed in just a few hours. The story line is quiet funny in general and this game can be easily finished in a day if you enjoy the story that the game has to offer. And if you're a fan of hacking games, this one is definitely worth checking out. Just keep in mind that it might not teach you how to hack since real-world hacking has become much more complex in recent years.

even better then the first and I love the harder puzzles some of them were very tough.
Another Fantastic Hack Sim.... Very Intelligent, More Difficult Than The Original, With Plenty For You To Piece Together.
Pretty fun. It does become more and more unclear about what you need to do, but the hints system helps with some of that.
I feel like this one is better than the original Hack Run, but it still has some problems. The writing is still a weak point in my opinion, and some passwords are still crapshoots that you need to guess on, but the puzzles themselves are more well designed.

The WTF storyline is great, just like its predecessor.
Most of the puzzles aren't too crazy to figure out, I like how the hints are laid out through websites and emails. I do think with this one it is a lot easier to get lost in though, like which portals need which logins to get to which programs >.o
But I like the style overall, and appreciate the hint & answer mechanics x3
Played for the story, stayed for the gameplay.
If you've played Hack Run then this is more of the same but better. The clues are more subtle so there's a sense of achievement for working them out, the story is engaging and there's more of the same unique gameplay elements that made Hack Run a good game.
For those that haven't played Hack Run then I'll just say if you liked uplink and Hacknet then play Hack Run first and then this one, it's not essential to understanding the plot but some things may not make sense and you won't get some in jokes otherwise.

If you liked Hack Run then you'll definitely enjoy Hack Run ZERO. These guys made an effort to improve the game and took off passwords that did not make any sense, which I believe was the main turn off in the last game. You get to hack outside the work terminal, which is also a plus. If guessing passwords is your thing then this game is for you.

Since I've played Hacker Evolution from exosyphen, I'm interested in hacking games. Well, I don't play them often but when Hack RUN was announced, I was intrigued, so, I buy it. And I bought also ZERO.
I've finally decided to play it after finishing Hack RUN and I knew where I would land. Flashy green on a black screen with commands only to type and nothing else around. And like the previous game, the big negative point is the lack of music. The only sound is the sound of your keyboard (and... I'm letting you discover it).
Like for Hack RUN, you're staying in the game for 2 main reasons:
- You want to know the story
- These achievements unlocking each time you're hacking, or receiving, or... in other words, it can be a quick release of achievements.
Because, let's be honest: typing always the same thing because the piece of information you need is always in an email isn't really captivating. Well, thanks god, there is at least 5% of the game that aren't about typing m and e.
And yet, if typing the same thing is boring, trying to find passwords, or usernames, or any clue that can help you is very very enjoyable. And be aware of something: the game is more sneaky for the password, even relying on your knowledge of muscle cars, classical composers or any name that could fit a dog (still puzzled how that password can be found). But the best here is the inclusion of voicemails... if you're used to English. Else, it will be perhaps a little harder for you.

Interesting concept, but the execution falls flat. Worth $2-3 for an evening distraction if you find it on sale, but it's nothing more than that. I finished the game in about 4 hours total (left it running through the day on accident, thus the extra hours on my record).
There's nothing open ended to the game, it's all about finding the exact right string of commands to get to the next part of the story. Guessing passwords is a 50/50 split, either it's completely handed to you or you're left with almost no clue.
If you really want a fantasy hacker game, look up Uplink instead.
