One night, while sulking about the real world's inability to live up to her fantasies, Michiru sees a shining star falling from the sky. She tries to use it to wish for the fame and admiration she's always dreamed of, but what crashes down on her is not the glamorous life of a Top Idol, but rather a black cat from the World of Magic, Nyanmel. Nyanmel's request: "Become a Magical Girl, and save the world!" But can Michiru really handle that kind of responsibility?
This visual novel, a spinoff of the popular "Fruit of Grisaia" series, follows Michiru's adventures in an anime-like format of 13 episodes. It is split into two Parts: Part 1 contains the first 7 episodes.

"Mama, can we have Bishōjo Senshi Sailor Moon?"
"We have Bishōjo Senshi Sailor Moon at home!!"
And this, sadly, is Bishōjo Senshi Sailor Moon at home. 😑
Unfortunately whatever thoughts and opinions I have on this awful game, the worst excuse for a magical girl anime story, not only go above the character limit for reviews, but would be the length of a short book. My full thoughts can be found on the Crappy Games Wikia article of the game I made myself, archived as the wikia is no longer available. This does contain spoilers, but is a rotten, worm infested apple edible?!
If you're curious to see it, then just watch it on Youtube for free instead of blowing $14.99+ on it like I did, the fact that it's normally selling for $19.99 on something that looks like it was made for free by a bunch of immature 13 year olds learning how to use Microsoft Powerpoint and Audacity is almost criminal and literal highway robbery. Not to mention I expected something new and somewhat unique/standing out to be brought to the magical girl genre, even as a fun little parody, but it was like a bunch of otaku just flipping me off and going "HA!! Don't be butthurt, it's just a prank, bro!"
Chiru Chiru Michiru is a visual novel whose plot is your stereotypical "magical cat meets schoolgirl" anime story. Story is linear, with no choices available.
While the core of the story is rather generic, it stands out by being very funny, with the main character's naivity and lackluster powers getting her in all sorts of hilarious situations. Pity is rather short.
Good overall artwork - especially Michiru's - and great voice overs. Few CGs though, and the game would benefit from more of them.
Music is decent, good though not particularly memorable by itself, but they fit the overall game concept and plot really well. Lots of music tracks available, so definitely does not get repetitive.
Overall, enjoyable and very fun to watch, though a tad pricey for the content available.
Rating: 8/10.
There is something about the art, the sound design, and the voice acting of this game that draws me in.
The story is not god awful, but not anything above your typical magical girl plotline.
I love looking at Michiru eyes and facial expressions while playing this. Her antics were to die for
Bought this in the summer sale when it was 50% off it is a good game for the half price I paid with a nice story but it doesn't have the wow factor to pay full price for it.
Also I haven't play the other games in the series before this one and the cute art style and adorable badges really sold me on this game so this had made me go back play the other games and then plan to replay this game.
Also there is a black cat
Funny VN, on the verge of idiocy. Despite it, VN even have drama. If you were not annoyed by Michiru in the original trilogy, then I recommend reading it.
Веселое, на грани с идиотизмом произведение. Несмотря на это даже нашлось место драме. Если вас не раздражала Мичиру в оригинальной трилогии, то рекомендую прочитать.
I never though this game would be so good. I laugh more than the can count. This games is a briliand comedy. For a more easier imagination, imagine Michiru + your very shark Maid Sachi due and trow a Asako as well and never ending Kazuki enigma. This game is well worth playing (however, you need to know the characters, so I suggest at least after finishing the second main game. No issue even after the 3rd main game)
Though this is my first ever visual novel ( aside from chaos;head I played almost.. 4 years ago, but don't remember much ) I loved the VN. The voice acting was wonderful, it didn't feel flat or stale. The art is beautiful, the animation is lovely, and the characters are extremely likeable. It's a good mix between serious magical girl issues and comedy. 10/10 would recommend, getting part 2 immediately.
I bought this half off a long time ago after familiarizing myself with the Grisaia franchise. I want to finish Part 1 and get to Part 2, but this feels like a chore of a VN to sit through.
The cast of Grisaia is pretty fun, and this alternate parody of them is pretty fantastic. The dialogue is mostly funny, scenarios get a chuckle out of me, and the art is a huge compliment. You can easily imagine how the cast would be portrayed or what sort of animation would be used per scene.
This is likely a personal gripe, but I cannot stand the shenanigans for this long. Only 2.2 hours put into this and I am annoyed by Michiru to where I start skipping her dialogue because her antics become old after the first 40 or less so minutes. As cute, insane, and whacky of a character she is, there's only so much I can take before I start rapidly clicking keys to rush through and get to the next crazy gimmick of a scene she must get through. I am slowly making my way through the story, but it is a slog and I am losing interest very quickly.
This spinoff is alright. It's basically Michiru's (And Kazuki's) own spinoff VN.
Michiru is back and funnier than ever.
The only downside is the lack of respect towards continuity, and the loads of continuity errors in this spinoff.
Like how the hell is Yuuji younger than Kazuki, Michiru, Amane, and the other characters, when in the main game, he is older than them?
It's alright. Needs more Michiru and less continuity errors that would put George Lucas to shame.
I'm so sad to say that I spent a lot of money to buy this.
There's nothing bad in it. But there's also nothing really stands out in it.
I just like Michiru, that's all.
Just get it, if you want. Or if you don't, that's okay too.
So... I bought this because I thought it might be related to this Grisaia thing I had been hearing about. Then I found out it was a separate universe, so I decided to read it first. It is a kinetic novel (no choices), and while the topic should be serious (save the world stuff), it is written more as a comedy. Especially with the main character being a complete airhead...
For and example of some of the comedy... early on Michiru is hit by a shooting star. This is the statement the novella makes: "The reason her body appears unscathed, despite receiving a direct hit from that star, is because we don't want to have to mosaic out 90% of the screen. Probably."
Anyway, it is a riot... and has enough action (which I suspect based on the cliffhanger ending will ramp up in Volume 2).
The Fruit of Grisaia was my introduction into high-quality, high-production value VNs. I abso-freaking-lutely loved it. I'm still finishing a couple of the routes, but after a solid 50+ hours into that game, I can say without a doubt I recommend it.
Now, what does that have to do with this game? Essentially, Idol Magical Girl Chiru Chiru MIchiru Part 1 (from now on, IMGCCMP1) is an alternate-world, kind of spin-off story using the characters from The Fruit of Grisaia (and it's 2 sequels). This time, we focus on the bottle-blonde psuedo-tsundere Michiru and her ridiculous antics.
Minor spoilers:She dies, gets revived by a magical cat, and embarks on a mission to seal the Sevens Chaos (which are essentialy the 7 deadly sins) to grant her one wish of becoming a pop idol - and coincidentally save the world
I highly recommend at least reading through The Fruit of Grisaia so you at least know who the characters are. That's not to say you can't enjoy this VN without it, but there are lots of little inside jokes and over-the-top personality quirks that get explored in this one.
It's extremely silly, briefly heart warming, and thoroughly entertaining. I actually, legitmately LOL'd several times per episode.
The sprites are equal quality to the other Grisaia games, with animated opening and closing movies (plus a magical costume change movie). Gorgeous CGs abound, and there are galleries for those, the music, the movies, and scene replays.
As for the format, this is Part 1 only, and there is another. Part 1 consists of 7 episodes, each somewhere in the 30-45 minute range each (if you read fairly quickly). The entire Part 1 took me just over 5 hours to complete, and it was time well spent.
While $20 is a lot for 5 hours, the game is currently in a Humble Bundle, and is certainly worth grabbing on a sale. If you're a die-hard Grisaia fan (and for some reason don't already own this), I'd say pick it up at any discount.
Mmm... it's okay.
A two-part side-story where Michiru is trying to become an idol singer, but ends up getting "recruited" to be a magical girl instead. Shenanigans happens and, as usual, Michiru's goofy self creates alot of humor at her expense. Since this is only the first half of the story, I can't really say how I feel about the plot because, as yet, it is not finished. But based on what I have seen, it is your typical spin-off storyline. That is to say it is something for the fans who want to see more of the characters from Grisaia in less dark and disturbing circumstances.
Will have to see how Part 1 is to determine my overall opinion on this. So far, it's alright.
Best Girl Gets Game
Michiru is my favorite character so when i saw that she got her own spin-off i threw my money so hard at the screen
Chiru Chiru ☆ Michiru is ridiculously hilarious IMO
The story so far is pretty amazing still gotta play part 2 but i can assure you this game is worth the buy now i understand that spending 40 dollars on this game is a tad overpriced but i can assure you it is money well spent
-hilarious
-well structured
-great soundtrack
-great story
-original characters are back
-really pure story
-get to listen to Chiruchiru ☆ Michiru OP&ED alot
Id highly recommend you guys to buy this game im really enjoying it
NO H-SCENES alot of people were complaining about this and i can assure you that you dont need them in this game the game is amazing without them ( on vndb they are making a 18+ version fyi )
Overall its a good game give it a chance show Michiru-Sama some love
suggestion to buy it under 50% off rate
good game but too high price
before play this game you must play fruit of Grisaia first to khow the character.
tl;dr: 8/10 - Game is great but ridiculously overpriced (more than 2x as much as the original) and the Sekai Project translation is horrible. Don't buy it.
Full Review (Part 1 of 2 - Part 2 here):
If you couldn't tell from my previous reviews, I'm a rather avid Grisaia fan. I was pleasantly surprised when I heard about this game, and even a little hopeful when I heard it was coming to Steam. Oh, how woe is me.
To clear up any immediate misunderstandings, I was in fact very happy with the game itself. Idol Magical Girl Chiruchiru ☆ Michiru was everything I'd expected and more. If it wasn't obvious enough, the game is a spinoff, so if you were hoping for a continuation of the mainline Grisaia series, you've come to the wrong place. That being said, the game delivers everything you could hope for from a spinoff.
It parodies the Grisaia cast in an amusing light, yet manages to remain more or less true to the originals. Since the game is a spinoff with a rather fantastical setting, it obviously doesn't deliver the same kind of hard-hitting, serious drama that you've seen in the original. Although Chiruchiru is primarily a comedy, it has a surprisingly intricate story of its own, despite the witty antics. The genres are too different to reasonably compare this game to The Fruit of Grisaia, but Chiruchiru definitely gets my quality seal of approval. Die-hard Grisaia fans will also enjoy the inclusion of characters that don't get too much attention until the later games, like Asako and Robbie, as well as the sneaky references to the main games, such as Yuuji's water bread and 9029.
The production quality was also spot on, as I've come to expect from Frontwing. The graphics and menus were as crisp and polished as they were in The Fruit of Grisaia, and the first half of the game alone contaned a good 20 or so unique CGs and about 30 different soundtracks. Through reading, I noticed myriad sprites and backgrounds, almost as if they were trying to show off the fact that no corners were cut. It really was a great reading experience, and anything that spells "Grisaia" has its own place in my books.
Now, despite all this, I really recommend that you do not buy this game.
At least, not from Sekai Project. I don't want to point fingers at the entire company for the poor quality of a single no-name translator's work, but from my past experience with other Sekai Project translations (World End Economica, Clannad), they really aren't helping their case with this release.
The "translation" of Chiruchiru, if you can even call it that, often lies on the boundary between "a stretch" and "blatantly incorrect", sometimes even tipping in favour of the latter. No effort was made to localize the language at all, though after seeing the Dangopedia, maybe I was a fool to expect otherwise.
(Arguable spoiler)
Take a look at this screenshot, for example. This is the line that comes directly after. It says 望み (nozomi) - wish, desire. This happens to be the name of Michiru's friend, as well. Now, the dialogue makes sense in Japanese, but if you can't read Japanese and don't know how to look up kanji, how are you supposed to understand this? The line isn't voiced, so you're not even able to hear it. At the very least, if they weren't going to translate it, romanji would have at least been readable for most, but this is just nonsense.
I will admit that I have played Idol Girl Michiru before Fruit of Grisaia, and many people are upset because of the AU (alternate universe) setting that this title has. My review is not about the correlation of the leading character, but this spin-off, in which she becomes a magical girl who must save the world in the first set of episodes in the series.
The artwork is very charming and is the quality expected for the price. For a lover of visual novels, this was really spot on for me as well as the JPN vocal work. It moves very kinetic and is engaging. It is not like watching or a movie, and does involve reading or simply listening and following along and the humor is very worth it. There are some tropes and light fan-service but it is never condescending towards its audience. I am looking forward to playing the second part. Bonus points for not taking itself too seriously.
Nice spin off that parodies magicl girl anime perfectly. Unfortunatly the VN itself is pretty short. If you love Grisaia already then pick it up or wait till the price drops a bit. For the $40 on both parts you might as well just pick up the main series Grisaia VN and/or wait for the other two to come on steam.
Played some off of Steam so hours aren't reflected correctly
Magical girl anime/manga/VN's aren't normally my thing, but I'm giving this a try due to it being a spinoff from Grisaia No Kajitsu which is one of my favorite VNs. The comedy is amazing and everything is lighthearted, if you're looking for something serious just go with the original or wait for the canon sequel.
As a side note: When I saw the configuration menu, I was completely baffled. This game has more graphical configuration settings than any other game I've ever seen, especially compared to anything AAA in the past few years.
Idol Mahou Shoujo Chiruchiru ☆ Michiru, a spinoff of "Fruit of Grisaia" series, follows Michiru's adventures in an anime-like format of 13 episodes where as soon as a player finishes a episode they are met with a credit sequence.
There are 13 episodes in total with part one containing 7 episodes and part 2 containing 6 developed by Front Wing.
The game stars 14 year old middle schooler Matsushima Michiru as she strives to be a famous idol. One night she spots a shooting star and wishes to become a idol, but instead she is met with a Nyanmel a magical talking cat that came hurdling down from the sky. There Nyammel ask Michiru to become a mahou shoujo (magical girl) in order to save the world.
A majority of the Grisaia character make a appearance in this spin-off title including main protagonist Kazami Yuuji as a small child in the hospital.
The audio and visual elements were great and It gives a charming sense of playfulness resulting in an enjoyable read from start to finish. It’s very much a parody of popular magical girl and idol genres.
To sum up i would recommend to get this if you love Fruit of Grisaia visual novel as it will shine a "new light" on the characters giving them a whole new look.
