Never do I so honestly admit my boundless stupidity and irredeemable lack of intelligence, unless its Zachtronics-designed games, and this one is no exception.
Top Global Players' Solution: Do A then B then Voila!
My Solutions: ha ha funny pointers go brrr
very good game for brains! :3
Harder than you think (as a developer used to high level languages),
AND more satisfying than you think (once you realise how much you can do with how little).
writing assembly in parallel computers. fun simple coding challenges: but complexity evolves in their solution.
Fighting the painful limitations of the architecture, banging your head against a wall failure after failure, and then finally watching your mangled child pass the tests just perfectly tickles programmer brain. The histogram will humble you.
I bought this game even though I'm too dumb for Zachtronics games.
I'm still too dumb for Zachtronics games, but now I know the very very basics of assembly
I can feel my brain swelling
"fun"
It's not exactly assembly programming and you won't exactly learn to program better. But it's a great puzzle game with programming and if you want to improve your logic skills, it's and amazing game.
this game helped me get HOT SINGLE WOMEN in my area and instantly increased my IQ by 400 points!!! Thanks TS-100!
As a Software Engineer myself, I think I'm qualified to say this:
This game is essentially a programming language / architecture in and of its own. The challenges are great and give it a game element. While programming experience isn't required to pick the game up and complete the challenges, it will definitely minimize the learning curve.
Where the game really shines is the metrics for cycles, instructions, and node counts. This leaves room for the best logical minds to shine and gives a challenge to engineers like myself to try to score the highest in all categories for any puzzle (which i don't think is possible for a lot of, if not most of, the puzzles).
If you're someone who finds this game enjoyable, and you're getting through it with no software engineering / programming experience, id say that's a good sign to look into software engineering. Its likely a field you'd enjoy as this game stimulates the same rewards / feelings you'll get as a Software Engineer.
Highly recommend for all.
A must play for any software engineers, it will essentially feel like a game version of work.
Fun game if you like writing assembly and parallel algorithms.
Excellent brain stimuli.
This scratches a very specific part of my brain that I didn't know existed, but I'm very glad it does.
If you're into esoteric puzzle games or want to learn pseudo-assembly language, this is the game for you. Very highly recommended.
I dont know whats wrong with me but this is fun
Brain Forkery
I like the climate and that you can print the architecture white paper and follow it as you play.
Highly recommended. Very fun puzzle game.
This is both a very fun game and a torturous affair 10/10
MY BRAIN HURTS
Only for real males™.
it's very good but unfortunately i am stupid
One of my favorite games I'd bring to uninhabited island.
Pain is <3
play just a lil bit
its alright i guess
this is a joke i love this game and have discovered multiple records (about 67 as of right now)
so ya very enjoyable and so much fun to optimize even now after so much time
Code optimisation in puzzle form!
Played for 12 hours straight, solved 15 of the puzzles and my solutions were so bad I went insane.
10/10
Superb.
If you enjoy solving programming puzzles with a very limited set of tools.
Not for everyone, that is.
x86 Assembly, the game =D! Great if you know assembly OR want to learn it
Определённо интересная идея, игруха крайне занимательная!
The game has a very unique computer architecture and limited instruction set that makes you really have to work hard to solve some of the programming problems. The graphs at the end showing how terrible your solutions were compared to the world and especially your friends really get the competitive juices flowing. Overall, a fun if sometimes frustrating programming challenge.
"I'm something of a programmer myself"
-me after making the most spaghetti ass incomprehensibly slow program known to mankind
I get paid money by writing performant high level code for real-world hardware. Now I can pay someone else money to write barely funtional assembly for made up hardware. 10/10
(Okay for real, if you're the kind of person who disappears into YouTube rabbit holes of retro game code, this game is literally made for you)
I enjoy smashing my head against my desk.
It's a transputer simulator.
each processor has one register and 4 bidirectional I/O ports, and can be programmed with a primitive assembly language featuring no subroutines or higher level abstractions. The machine has no OS.
The player is to solve problems using the transputer by transforming an input to produce a correct output.
This is a very fun programming puzzle game, highly recommended!
I recommend this game. Why? Par excellence, I would say, if I spoke French. But since I don't and would just embarass myself trying to pronounce that, you'll have to take my word on this game being pretty neat.
worst uni assignment ever
Fun but not nearly as accessible as Opus Magnum
Great for playing with low level parallel programming
Increase the number of clock cycles in your brain to
Reduce the number of clock cycles on the TIS-100

A fun little game. It's probably easier with some assembly experience, but it would also act as a good introduction to lower-level programming for those without. Theres only a couple registers, basic conditional jumps, etc., but the puzzles get quite tricky. I imagine you could take the knowledge acquired from playing this game and apply it to a more complex instruction set; at the very least, it may develop some of the thinking required. I bought the game elsewhere a few years back, but I was happy to purchase it again here on Steam. Definitely worth it for those who like puzzles without hand holding.
Pretty cool if your into programming.
Nice game. Interesting "tesselated" structure to the programs.
Very nice
I'm not autistic I'm normal.
I haven't felt this alive since my at first job learning GPIB/SCPI over one weekend after I told my boss I already knew it.
yes
Very elegant coding game in a pseudo-assembly language. Some real brain-busters in here, as well as a sandbox to play around with the mechanics, and a bit of a hidden narrative to explore. Zachtronics is known for programming puzzle games and this early title has all the magic in text-only form,
