MYTH is an ambitious doujin title that has garnered acclaim from Japanese VN enthusiasts, featuring a narrative that requires profound thought in order to fully understand its complex and multi-layered scenario structure.
The story begins in the distant future. The protagonist Meito Tanabe lives in the "world of light" - a world where no shadows exist. Yet, the "world of shadows" reaches out to him through Shimon, a girl possessing a shadow, who brings him into the world in which she lives.
Players will soon find there's more than meets the eye in MYTH, which features multiple interlocking story arcs that borrow heavily from Norse mythology. Included in the game is a note system and a highly-detailed character relationship chart for players to reference as they get absorbed into the universe.
MYTH also has a stellar soundtrack, featuring Kino Nei, Luck Ganriki, and Katakiri Rekka, all of whom worked on music for 07th Expansion in various capacities. Fans of horror or doujin games, like the Higurashi series, won't want to miss this title!

Hidden gem that more people should play. It's a tough one to shill since I wouldn't want to give anything away. Beautiful story that goes places I never expected. I really wish there was more buzz about MYTH. Despite being a doujin title from a circle with a relatively small catalog it left an impact on me on par with the heavy hitters in the VN medium. Took me about 27 hours to read, highly recommend anyone to take a chance on it.
MYTH feels like a teenager read Tsui no Sora (which already wasn't good) and/or Cross†CHANNEL, then tried to make their own denpa visual novel. While the nonsensical and disturbing plot is great, MYTH's approach to philosophy is one of the most pretentious things I've seen in the medium. In the first five minutes, the protagonist is calling his repetitive life pointless and goes on about Nietzsche. This said everything I needed to know for the few more hours I'd stand. The philosophy doesn't interlink with the story in an emotional and engaging way akin to visual novels like Subarashiki Hibi and the previously mentioned Cross Channel. This issue unfortunately overshadows the nonsensical horror that MYTH is strong at and results in an unsatisfying read.
