Everybody says play a better puzzle game but are there really any better anime puzzle games on steam?
I mean like jigsaw puzzle game, not like puyo puyo...
Please comment with any suggestions if you have them.
If you're just trying to get achievements, by all means go ahead, but a warning to anyone who wants to buy this game: your Steam Library will start getting cluttered with this developer's other garbage puzzle games as it pops into your library one by one like a virus. Games that the only way to fully 100% it is from buying their many DLCs and playing through them. Small icons, annoying fairy that flies around (she's the only one who can give you hints so it's damaging to disable her), awful looking badge, complete cash grab of a developer.
Just get a different puzzle game.
The worst of the Pixel Puzzle franchise.
That's saying a lot.
The art is mid.
The animated background with swirling puzzle pieces floating on it and often disappearing off screen or behind the puzzle is beyond annoying.
The color change options for the puzzle tray itself are limited and usually do not help much to make trying to fit pieces together much easier, but you do have that option.
The annoying af fairy who throws pixel dust is, well... annoying af. You can remove her by hitting the [Delete] key after loading a puzzle, but without her there, you get no pixel dust to "earn" hints. And hints may be your only sanity-saving grace for some of the puzzles. So you keep her and turn the audio down to 0 so you don;t have to listen to her cringy and repetitive lines and nails-on-chalkboard voice. She will sit in place and prevent you from picking up pieces that go behind her, though- so be ready for that.
On larger puzzles (higher piece count) the pieces are so small that you can't see what's on them, as they float in the animated background- you do have a zoom feature, which helps some, and you can open up a tray to store pieces in. But most of the time, you won;t know what is actually on a piece until you place it on the puzzle tray itself and it blows up to actual size.
No image comparison during play, unless you use the Ghost hint feature, which fades out way too quickly IMHO. And it takes a bit of time to collect enough pixel dust from the annoying af fairy, it uses a good amount of dust in the tube, and IMHO, the Location hint is far more helpful and useful.
No Cloud Saves- so if you switch computers or your computer dies and you don't have the save file stored on a thumb drive to transfer to your new computer- you get to experience the joy of starting all over again, (Big Hint- make manual backups of your save file...)
All that said- I paid like 64¢ USD when I bought this back in like 2016, and I still feel like I paid too much. But at least the dev didn't start adding new puzzle packs and achievements every 2-4 weeks like with some of their other games. So you can get all achievements with only one purchase. Buy it on a deep discount if you really enjoy jigsaw puzzles *and* being miserable while doing them.
(Quick edit to add spacing between points for easier reading.)
Intense, adorable, and somewhat average art awaits you inside Pixel Puzzles 2: Anime!
There are a total of 26 puzzles to complete, with one being in the main menu. 25 are various sized anime pictures with random shapes.
While the art is good in some, some are also not good. The worst part about this game is the pixie... Yes, you can turn her off but then you don't get dust to use if you feel that's a requirement for harder (or bigger sized) puzzles.
All in all, it's a good way to waste a few hours (or 16 if you left it open overnight like me) and see some cool anime images.
Negative because the flaws are too much
Good:
-The drawings are ok...
Flaws:
-... but looks anonymous, nothing that shine.
-The pixie is the most annoying and cringest thing of this game (but can be removed with DELETE, but you also lose the tips).
-The pieces shape fits good with the theme of the drawing but is a pain to figure out how can assemble them togheter.
-Again, some pieces are plain color and some drawings have entire parts that are a single plain color.
I do not recommend this game. Not even if it would be free.
Here are some key points:
+ some of the art is oke
- animated backround
- moving puzzle pieces ( pieces swirl around in the already animated backround )
- annoying fairy that talks all the time ( luckily u can remove her )
- sound settings are not divided into 'music/sound effects'
I was looking for a puzzle game to relax and calm down, but this one has just so many annoying elements build into it, it's not enjoyable at all.
Nope, that fairy/pixie is annoying af, and without the ability to toggle the damn thing, even though I wanted to like it, I can't recommend.
A pretty nice game for jig-saw fans and another great addition to the "Pixel Puzzles" series. Has 25 different puzzles of escalating difficulty, cards and 27 achievements which are reasonably easy to get.
I also recomend all the other "Pixel Puzzles" games.
Note: Since it has been featured in several bundles and sales, it's not hard to get it for less than the fullprice.

This game has some good points and some bad , for example the artwork is good but I did not like the weird puzzle piece shapes.
The unforgivable fault with it is that it breaks a cardinal rule of computer games , i.e. you cannot turn the music off.
If you hate the repetitive music as much as I do you have no choice but to turn the sound off completely.
How hard is it to make sepeate sliders for music and sound effects?
This is an above average game in the Pixel Puzzles series. The puzzles are nice to look at, the small mechanic (you can't turn off piece rotation as you can in other titles) is slightly annoying but doable. And other than dealing with the chattering little anime fairy... a fun ride. While that character is nice and all, after a time her comments can become... tedious.
Bonus is that upon purchase the puzzles from this volume are automatically unlocked in the Ultimate edition.
Fun puzzles. The pictures are cute. The game itself has no issues but YOU MUST, ABSOLUTELY MUST TURN THE SOUND OF THE GAME OFF.
I warned you. If you don't you will probably harm your computer or yourself because that stupid pixel faerie or whatever is the most hideous creation in all of the universe.
FYI this is NOT fanservice anime.
The Pixel Puzzles 2 series (Anime, Birds, Space) certainly has improvements over their first 2 tries (Japan and Zombies). 25 puzzles (26 if you count the like 20 piece minigame)
Pros:
-Good afk time killer that you don't need to pay attention to
-The pieces no longer are rotated to the correct position making this series a decent amount more difficult.
-Decent powers that aren't 100% tied to dice roll of putting down the right piece to fill a bar. Now there are 3 powers 1- Correct rotation for piece 2- Ghost image 3- Show placement on board for current piece.
-The "puzzle moat" where the pieces are is much improved in this series
-It's a puzzle game you really should know what to expect
Cons:
-Unplayable with sound. There is a "helpful" fairy that won't shut up and there is no options to disable so just turn off audio and put on whatever you like listening to since the sounds don't add much anyway.
-Each puzzle only has X number of pieces you can't play any with different piece counts, same as the first series.
IMO it's worth it on a sale. I play this afk at work so this is great as it never requires 100% of my attention.
Edit: They apperently did update where you can press "Delete" and it will remove the fairy but the game does not tell you that, had to read it on a forum.
Had ~25 hours when I finished all of the puzzles but that is time the game was open and not actual gameplay.
great game for those loving jigsaw puzzles . Also easy enough the get all achievements and make your perfect game rate higher on your profile LOL
As the game title say, this one is a puzzle game where the theme is Anime. The max number of pieces is 350 and the min is 60. So if you love puzzle and anime, this is a perfect game for you.
Pros:
- Nice picture of anime
- Beautiful steam cards
- Easy to play
Cons: the Pixie is very annoying
Pixel Puzzles 2: Anime belongs to a series of games focusing on jigsaw mechanics on a thematic. The previous ones are about Zombies, Japan or Birds. Here, you'll get images in an anime style - remember, anime is the term often used to describe cartoons from Japan.
The goal is the same: unlock more complicated puzzles (more numbers, more shapes, etc..) and rebuild the picture. You can use bonus if you collected enough fairy dusts, like the right place of the piece, or the complete image shown for a few seconds. While the pieces are floating in a sort of water, they're not necessarily already in the right direction. I mean by that that you'll need to rotate them to find the exact fitting.
I enjoyed the art as it was well drawn, like I've enjoyed the soundtrack. However, while I understand the pseudo-need of putting a fairy in the game, she was speaking too much with her screams or her reflexions. After a while, you just want to make her shut up because her voice is really really striking your nerves.
True, it's a classic jigsaw game but every game in the series is bringing something different: Japan is probably the basic game, UndeadZ added more actions and Birds got a new menu and a new way to bring bonus. Anime is adding rotation and a character to guide you and to help you. However, I can understand those that can be bored by it, as it's a question also of patience. Some puzzles requires really time to be finished and once it's done, the satisfaction is great.
Yeah, I recommend this one. I suppose that the fairy will annoy many of the players but don't let the game being reduced to that. It's still a good moment to pass.
Anime and puzzles! Sure <3
The pieces move around too much (although you can place them on the table that pops up but that will sometimes get a little more scrambled if you just toss them on there) and also tend to get lost behind the helper.
At least when you come back to the game it saves where you left off on your puzzle.
Make sure you use the skills as well!
If only the helper was able to be disabled...
7.5/10
It is was you expect it to be, puzzles of anime. I suggest playing this while listening to music, or watching a movie, or chatting to a buddy. Not the the faint of hearts tho. So be prepared to spend an hour on the small puzzles, and 6 hours on the biggest one :D

eNjoy ^-^
My first Pixel Puzzles game was Pixel Puzzles: Japan which I really played the heck out of. Perfect for someone who likes jigsaws but doesn't want half finished puzzles lying around the house. But Pixel Puzzles 2: Anime....ugh! I really regret buying this game.
Firstly, unless I'm missing something, they have still not installed a save function. So unless you are certain you have enough time to finish a puzzle of several hundred pieces, don't start. Mostly though, I haven't met a "helper" I've hated more since the Microsoft Office paperclip. With constant jibberish like "I know where that piece goes but I'm not gonna tell ya!" the only answer is to turn all the sound off since there is no option to get rid of her or turn her annoying voice off. Not that losing the sound really matters as the soundtrack seems to want to turn doing a jigsaw into some sort of aciton platformer with it's stress inducing rushed melody.
Anyhow, if you want a jigsaw puzzle game, for for the very zen Pixel Puzzles: Japan. Much MUCH less stressful. Because hey, if I wanted a game to stress me out, I'd play Dota2!
I was tempted to not recommend this based on the very irritating fairy swimming around your puzzle and interjecting obnoxious comments every thirty seconds or so. Then I discovered that the fairy can be removed with the delete key and life was suddenly much better. This does, unfortunately, also disable her hint functions, but since I personally wasn't interested in using hints (what's the point in that, it's a puzzle!), getting rid of the fairy was well worth the lack of hints.
The game itself is a straightforward jigsaw puzzle set, with various piece counts and pictures. The pieces do require rotation which adds some challenge that was absent from previous games in this series (I enjoy the other installments but they went much faster).
So in the end, since I was able to disable the fairy from hell, I will recommend this for anyone who likes a good jigsaw. However, if you do want to use the hint function attached to the fairy, bear in mind that you'll either have to listen to her prattle or you'll have to shut off the sound for the whole game (as there is no separate volume control for voice vs music/sound effects).
Ok once again a jigsaw puzzle game from the Decaying Logic team.
Positive changes from the others
No stupid erase your progress Koi!
You are not being seiged by zombies.
Game now SAVES your progress. You place a piece right, it's there waiting in place the next time you play that puzzle.
Negative changes
You can't kill/punch/mute that stupid fairy!
Yes that's correct each version of this series has an anoying factor. This time it's a constantly chattering floating scientist fairy that micro fairy dusts you in small slow slow increments power ups. Hate her so much.
Cool changes
Now you're going to have to rotate pieces. Adds wonderful chalenge to each puzzle.
Basically though there's a new game anoyance factor to go with the puzzle theme change. But at least now you don't have to restart a puzzle from the begining. It'll save your spot. BIG plus!
Worth buying if you enjoy a good jigsaw puzzle.
if you like jigsaw puzzles you will love this game for sure.
i enjoyed all 4 Pixel Puzzles games that they released so far, this one has the rotation feature same as the one in Pixel Puzzle Birds ( you have to rotate the piece to figure how and where it should be placed) which made the game harder than the first 2 and it will take more time to solve the puzzles, i really recommend them all to any jigsaw puzzles fan.
i would suggest Putting your own music while playing.
Okay, I'll say this once: I like the Pixel Puzzles series and thoroughly enjoyed the Japan and Undeadz flavours. The Anime installment brings piece rotation to the gameplay and a very vocal helper fairy. While the gameplay is fun yon 'helper' is almost as annoying as Navi from the Zelda series, constantly urging you to use the dust-powered powerups (iow cheats) or lavishly congratulating you for placing a single piece correctly.
Honestly, a nice gimmick, but poorly executed. I would urge anyone to take this into consideration before buying this game. Hopefully a future update will allow you to turn her off or at least mellow the constant barrage of remarks flung your way. Beyond that, the puzzle images are kind of nice, including a few very cute ones.
